AVA'S POV.

I sat on the couch, my fingers nervously tracing the rim of my teacup. Across from me, my mother sat in an armchair, the steam from her tea curling into the air.

Her sharp eyes, usually filled with locks on me as she studied me. Goodness knows what is going on inside her head.

“So do you want to talk about last night," I said, breaking the awkward silence darting my eyes from Anna and my mother.

“I must say, I am shocked,” she said at last, her voice tinged with pride. “You have finally gotten your lost wish, you shifted, Ava. After all these years… you have become a wolf.”

I gave her a small, shy smile. “I did.”

For a moment, she said nothing more, her expression unreadable. Then, leaning forward slightly, she asked.

“People said it was abnormal for an impure wolf to shift…” I paused, turning to her, and locking eyes with her. "It seems that your restless teachings paid off.”

“Okay,” she blurted out waving her hand before dropping the teacup on the table, she turned to

Arthur’s POVThe warm glow of the desk lamp spilled across the dark surface of my desk, lighting up the mess of papers, maps, and notes on the table. I glanced at Charles who stood near the tall window, staring out at the moonlit courtyard with his hands behind his back, a small smile playing on his lips. “Everything is almost back to normal,” he muttered, inhaling deeply. Before I could respond, the door creaked open and Aaron, my Gamma walked in. “My Lord,” he bowed as soon as he got to the table. “My apologies, I got the message late.”I exhaled deeply, nodding my head as I leaned back on the chair. “Ava is safe now, so that's what matters at the end.”He adjusted his sleeves, looking uneasy.“Give me the report,” I commanded, locking eyes with him. “There is a report right?” I frowned. Aaron stepped forward, his tone grim. “Well, my men and I have been secretly combing the town and the palace. We have checked all the elders' and servants' houses as requested but nothing has l

AVA'S POV. I watched Lady Eleanor step out of the palace, the maids walking behind her, rolling out her bags. She barks orders at them to hurry up while she walks slowly like a snail. I am just glad her episodes are over. I took in deep breaths, forcing the biggest smile I could offer, before walking up to her. “Lady Eleanor,” I called gently, waiting for her to respond but she didn't.She paused, turning her head slightly but not fully facing me. I stepped closer until I could see her expression, she was filled with rage. I swallowed hard, flickering my eyes away. Hope I wasn't the one who got her angry. I certainly wish I wasn't the one that got her all worked up. “I wanted to say…” I hesitated, clasping my hands nervously. “I hope you can forgive me. And I hope you find peace and happiness in the new mansion Arthur arranged for you.”Her lips curled into a faint, turning to me. “Peace, you say? You’re too kind, Ava.”“It’s not kindness,” I said softly, meeting her gaze. “It’s

AVA'S POVThe morning light slipped into the room, soft and golden. Arthur’s arm rested over me, warm but a bit heavy, his breathing steady. I lay still for a moment, staring at the ceiling, trying to calm the storm inside me but the morning sickness only added to it. I knew what I had to do. But Arthur could not know. If he found out, he would stop me…maybe even lock me in the palace if he thought it was for my safety.Carefully, I moved his arm and slid out of bed. He opened his eyes for a brief second, his brows furrowed in curiosity. “Where are you going?” He demanded staring at me. “Well, I have to meet my mother this morning, she is in her room,” I stuttered avoiding his gaze.He stared at me for a while, studying my expression while I prayed silently for him to let me go without having to answer his questions. He nodded turning to the other side, I quickly walked to the bathroom and took my bath.I moved to the wardrobe and chose a plain, dark dress and a simple cloak. Arthur’s POVThe drive back to the palace was almost difficult. My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly as I bit my lips. My mind was clouded with different thoughts, and my heart going through different emotions all at once. I felt guilty, sad, confused, heartbroken. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Lady Eleanor’s face. She had been everything to me, she was there for me when I lost my parents, and she was also there for my mother when my mother was alive. “Fuck,” I cussed, slamming my fists on the steering wheel, my breath heavy.By the time I reached the palace gates, the sentinels rushed to me informing me of the urgent meeting. Inside, the elders were waiting, seated in the council chamber like judges ready to pass sentence. Their stern faces were etched with disappointment and disapproval. “Arthur,” an elder began, his voice filled with venom. “This tragedy cannot be ignored. Lady Eleanor’s death is a direct failure of your leadership.”“I am fully aware of the g

Arthur's POVI stood outside Luna’s house as the early morning air brushed against my skin. I took in deep breaths walking in. Today was the day of the punishment, I didn't know how long I would be out, I needed to make sure Ava was okay before I left. I had asked Amelia to help Ava move to Luna's house and place her under twenty-four security. I walked to her room calmly when I finally got to her room, I froze midway unsure whether to knock, suddenly the door creaked. Ava froze, staring at like she had seen a ghost. “Ava,” I said softly as I stepped inside. “How are you feeling?”She shrugged, brushing her hair away from her face, forcing a smile but not big enough to cover the anxiety in her. “I’m okay, Arthur. Just… tired. I need some rest.”I nodded. “Can I come in?” I asked. She nodded, moving aside. As soon as I got inside I turned to her, pulling her into a hug. “I'm sorry for shouting at you yesterday.”She chuckled. “That's alright, I shouldn't have gone there.”“I will

Arthur’s POVWe all sat in the war room, with a few head sentinels, everyone looked tense, some looked afraid, who wouldn't be? This was supposed to be the biggest war of the centuries, one that would decide our fate. Dorian moved to the shelf picking out some maps and threw them on the table. “This is the complete map of my palace.”Charles stepped forward, spreading the maps. “Don't you think it's a stupid move for Jennifer to attack a palace she knows nothing about? She has no idea the layout structure—” Dorian cuts him off.“Are you seriously suggesting there is a mole in my palace?” He frowned. “Yes, I do think there might be a mole in this palace, but it's not your fault, most of our people turned on us.”I nodded, my fingers tracing the structure of the palace on the map. “There are a lot of hiding places that we can use to ambush them, what's this place?” I asked, pointing at a location on the map. “It's an escape route,” he replied, looking at me. “But only I have the key.

This was the house she used to live with her family before Arthur killed her parents. She had decided to come here one last time and see her sister, the only family she had left, Elizabet. Elizabeth was standing right in front of her, Amelia didn’t know what to say or how to feel, she just stared at her. Elizabeth looked the same and different at the same time. Her dark hair was longer and her eyes looked more cold. She wore a black cloak that covered every part of her body, the only thing that wasn't covered was her head and that was because her cloud was down. “Amelia,” Elizabeth said. Amelia swallowed hard, taking a small step forward. “Elizabeth,” she muttered, almost to herself. For a long moment, none of them spoke, They just stared at each other. “You look well,” Elizabeth finally said, her

How am I supposed to control something I don’t understand?”“Then you need to understand what is inside you,” he said firmly. I rolled my eyes. “What is inside me then?” I shrugged. He hummed, nodding his head in agreement. “Then let's start with that, because there is no way you can control something you don't know.”“Seriously,” I groaned. More lessons again. “Can't we just cut some slack? I'm seriously tired, I need rest.”“Rest?” He scoffed. “You can only get rest if you are ready to wake up in a dungeon full of rouges.”My lips curled into a smirk. “I

We sat quietly glancing glances at each other as the black witch continued with her work. Amelia moved to her, whispering something to her, the witch turned to her with a cold glare. “What do you know about black magic?” She questioned her, her expressions flickered to disdain. “What the hell do you think you can do to help me?”Amelia frowned, stepping back. “I just wanted to help, you don't have to be harsh with your words.”I winced as I clutched my wounded arm. The pain was almost unbearable, I can't believe this was what my victims had to pass through before they died. Amelia walked to me. “Who does she think she is?” She eyed. “I am almost the best witch in our time, just because I don't practice black magic doesn't mean my powers aren't as powerful as it.”I smiled, despite the pain. “It's okay, Amelia, just let her go to work.”Amelia rolled her eyes as the bla
