★ELAINE'S POV★
Hot tears rolled in rivulets down my cheeks. I couldn't ignore the gut-wrenching feeling that clouded my stomach as I pondered his words in my head over and over again;“You are not my type. Haven't you heard what people say about you? You are cursed and you carry the birthmark, predicted to bring doom and an impending plague to werewolf kind. Do you want me to stick with that? I, Nathaniel Perkins, son of the Alpha from blue moon pack hereby reject you, Elaine Mc cray as my mate!”More tears cascaded down my cheeks. All my life, I have lurked beneath the shadows. I blamed myself every day for being the cause of my mother's death — She died after birthing me. Because of that, my father, the Alpha of the blood moon pack, treated me with disdain. He abhorred the fact that I took away the love of his life and his partner. However, his hatred for me doesn't end there. In addition, he despise me for not being a male. And lastly, because of the birthmark at the base of my neck.As the daughter of an Alpha, my life has been nothing but a shit hole, people in the pack cast scornful glares at me whenever I walked past. I have endured several years of humiliation and being ostracized. But deep down, I wanted to be loved. I craved to be desired and adored. Prompting why, I waited to complete eighteen today, just so I could meet my mate and depart far away from this pack.Nevertheless, my mate also treated me the same way people have been with me. With scorn. He rejected me in front of all the other young werewolves gathered around the multipurpose hall to bond with their mates.Alas, the only person that stuck with me through thick and thin is my maid, Tania. She had been like a sister to me, cared for me, and also extended an olive branch of friendship. We have been together for so long that I no longer considered her my servant. Rather, as my sister.Tania kept on rubbing a small of my back, hoping to pacify me. “You are going to be okay, Elaine. Take this as one of those phases filled with despair. Soon, it will pass away.” She cooed.“But when?” I asked, sniffling back sobs. “When will I finally be accepted? Why did I come into this cruel world if no one is willing to acknowledge me?” My heart clenched in a fistful of anguish, ricocheted with dismal as I speak.“I guess I am no one then,” Tania stated in a displeased tone.“No no no no, I did not mean that, Tania.” I took her hand in mine and she cast me a weary stare. “I know you accept me and I really appreciate that. But you have to understand from my perspective. Will I remain an outcast forever? Will remain the same weak, unmated, and cursed she-wolf until I die?”Just as Tania was about to utter something else, the door to my room flung open and my father stormed in. “Pack your things immediately, Elaine!”Rising to my feet, my brows contorted in confusion. “But why, father?”“You are going to be Alpha Damon's Luna.” He breathed, picking up a few of my things from the floor. And then, he handed them over to Tania, whose face revealed just how stunned she was also with the sudden declaration. My breath hitched.“What?” I huffed in disbelief. “The same vile and ruthless Alpha Damon from the Lycanfrost pack?” My pupils dilated in shock and I still couldn't believe my ears.My father shrugged. “Of course, who else?”“How can you barge into my room and then blurt out something this distasteful?” I spat.He pointed a finger at my face and seethed with a demeaning tone. “You can't go against my word, Elaine. After all, your mate rejected you. And he lost his Luna to the cold hands of death a month ago. It's a win-win situation.”“Are you even listening to yourself?” I fired back angrily. “How can you ask me to be with a man that's not my mate and that's not from my pack?”“Because this is the only way to cover up this humiliation. To retain my self-esteem as an Alpha.” He retorted sharply.Almost at once, I burst into a series of raucous laughter. But deep down, I was hurting. I have been used to masking my anguish with a smiling face and most people never notice. Except, Tania of course. When my laughter died down, the amusement in my face vanished into thin air, only to be soon replaced with a scowl. “So this is just about your self-esteem? Is that all that matters to you? Am I not your daughter? Ever since I was born, you have done nothing but cast me out like a plague!" My voice cracked. Fresh tears were filling my eyes.“Don't you dare speak to me like that! I am the Alpha of this pack!” my father roared. With tears blurring my vision, I looked around and let out a sad chortle. Then, back to him. “Who cares if you are the Alpha of this pack?” And with a scoff, I added. “After all that's all you have been but nothing significant in my life!”My father violently stomped his right foot on the floor. “And you have been a burden to me all along!” His vile words ricocheted into my heart and shattered it into fragments. What? I scoffed in disbelief.“You came into this world and took away the most precious person in my life! And you couldn't even comfort me by being a male, instead, you emerged a weak female who can't even succeed on my throne. You have a birthmark that carries plague and misfortune. And now, the only person I hoped could restore my faith in you, publicly rejected you today. So I'd advise you to leave without objecting because you have no option!”“You are the most selfish, cruel, and demeaning being I have ever met!” I seethed between gritted teeth, prompting him to slap me hard against my right cheek. My head turned sideways. When I brought my head back to him, I cast a glare at him. To be honest, I have never dared to confront my father in this manner. Ever since I became aware of my plights, I listened when he speaks and never retorts. Rather, I'd just simply obey and adhere to his rules, as though it doesn't affect me. But it did.Perhaps, this rage emanated from the pain I felt after being rejected. Or maybe, I have tried so hard to conceal this part of me until now. Either way, I was glad to hurl these words at my father's face. After the age of five, I grew up to realize then that the Luna with him, wasn't my mom. Because she maltreated me even while she was pregnant with a pup. Now she has two kids; a male, who is going to succeed my father's throne, and a female, who hates my guts so much.“You slapped me?” I questioned as my voice shook with tears.“And I will do it all over again. You, ungrateful, pathetic little bitch!” He bellowed. Thus, that was the height of it. I couldn't take this maltreatment anymore because I have had enough. With my stomach dipping in agony, I declared — “Fine, I will leave. But don't you ever dare to look for me because I won't be coming back! Even when I die, don't seek my corpse.”“Like I give a damn!” He tossed his hand in the air dismissively before walking out of my room. And I slipped to the floor, wailing profusely.★Throughout the journey to the Lycanfrost pack, tears didn't cease pouring down my cheeks. The despair coursing through my veins knew no limit. I wished I had never been born into this cruel world, rather than facing miseries upon miseries, every given day. My mind was clouded with agony, and my head– with emptiness. I felt so shattered, so broken and abandoned. I felt like a pile of trash tossed into a junkyard.“Everything is going to be fine, Elaine.” Tania held my hand in hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze. But I couldn't even feign a smile. My face felt frozen from sadness and my lips pressed together into a grim line. So instead of uttering a word, I rested my head on her shoulder, crying until I drifted asleep.“We have arrived at the Lycanfrost pack!”That baritone voice jolted me awake as our carriage pulled to a halt. My vision blurred, my eyes stung a lot from crying too much and my head was heavy. Suddenly recollecting everything that has happened so far, fresh tears welled up in my eyes. The realization that I was going to be living a new life as someone's Luna finally dawned on me, and ripped me, inside out.“Brace yourself, my lady.” Tania wiped the tears from my swollen face as she smoothened it with the back of her hand. “You can do this. Let's learn to rely on each other from now, okay?”Issuing her a reluctant nod, my eyes averted to the carriage door as it creaked open. Omega Gil from my pack stretched out his hand forward. “Let me help you, my lady.” but I brushed him off, and hauled myself down.Tania followed right behind me.“I will depart soon after your luggage has been offloaded,” Gil informed me then he began to bring down my things from the back of the carriage. When he was done, he clasped his hands together and bade me farewell before returning to our pack in the carriage.Alas, I stood at the entrance of the gargantuan-sized house with Tania beside me. In the short span of ten seconds, three omegas darted out and bowed in deference to me.“Greetings, Luna.” A blond young male omega stated. “We have been instructed to usher you in. So while Greg and Steve take your things to your room. I will escort you to the throne room to meet Alpha Damon.”At the mention of his name, a cold sensation sprang up from the sole of my feet, coursing through my entire body. Without a word, I followed behind him while Tania left with the omegas, handling my luggage.Upon the entrance, it was welcoming and large. I trudged through the hallway, scrutinizing the whole edifice. The walls were highly crafted with bricks and fine materials, and portraits of Alpha Damon led right from the hallway, to the throne room. Where my betrothed sat, waiting for me.His eyes feasted upon mine, piercing into the depth of my soul. Inside, I was shaken to bits, but I tried to maintain my poise. There was no hint of amusement in his eyes and I could tell that he was observing me. But something didn't sit right.Coming here, I expected Alpha Damon to be ugly and appalling at sight. But alas, he turned out to be quite appealing. His light-toned face was arched with a sharp jawline. His captivating blue orb eyes gleam in the dark, accentuated with a Grecian nose and thin lips. However, his expression remained blank.“So you are Elaine.” His words didn't sound like a question or like a statement. “I got your father's letter. My omega will escort you to your room. Get some rest.” His resilient baritone was definite.Lightning flashed across the freezing sky, illuminating the hallway out of its darkness until we got to my room. The omega opened the door and gestured that I preceded him.My eyes surveyed the room. It was dimly- lit, with a vintage bedside lamp that seemed to be almost out of power. Painted in a shadowy and sumptuous royal blue with some touch of beige. There was a large wardrobe at the rear corner of the room, tightly close with its content unrevealed. The polished magnanimous bed furniture is situated at the center of the room, with the sheets perfectly arranged.“I will leave you to it, my lady.” The omega closed the door shut, leaving me to my tumultuous nerves.Once more, I looked around, wondering where Tania was at the moment. Although the house seemed elusively big, I decided to search for Tania. Perhaps, we could get to understand the layout together. Then, we'd escape and become rogues. So, I sauntered out, wandering through the hallway, oblivious to the path it led. Tracing my steps, I listened attentively for any preceding footsteps. But my ears grasped a loud noise rather. It seemed like a muffled yell for help. Somehow, it managed to resonate through the hallway, so I moved in that direction until I got to a black door. Could it be Tania? I thought to myself. With my heart in my hands, I pressed down on the knob and the door creaked open. But the moment my eyes landed on what was inside the room, my heart sank, my knees wobbled and my head became numb. I simply froze. Instead of running away, I yelled at the top of my lungs.★ELAINE★I gawked in terror at the bloodied and battered male wolf, down to the club in Alpha Damon's hand that he had been using to bash his victim's head, then the bloodstains all over his white cloak to the other male figure, who stood solemnly beside him. Trepidation. Panic. Distress. Void and a gut-wrenching feeling coursed through my veins, making me feel nauseous. “ No no no” I shook my head in disbelief, horrified at the terrible sight. Covering my mouth to drape my screams, I gathered myself and then began to step backward. But it was too late. Their head snapped in my direction and Alpha Damon's face contorted with a scowl. Instantly, I knew he was furious that I invaded his privacy and caught him in the middle of a mess. Damn! He is going to kill me as he did with that poor male wolf. With my chest heaving in fear, I tried to breathe. However, it seemed like all the air had evaporated from my lungs.“Take her back to her room, Adrian.” Alpha Damon commanded the other ma
★ELAINE'S POV★“No, Tania. It is not possible for us to escape now. I thought of it, but we don't know the layout of the house pretty much. Also, we don't know how the pack works yet. However, I will try to attend the ceremony, and pretend as if everything is fine while we plot together. Until then, we have only each other.” I enunciated to Tania and she nodded her head in understanding. “Oh, my lady!” breathed Tania as she pulled me into a brief hug. Afterward, she helped me up so we could start preparing for the ceremony. In a short span of twenty minutes, I was done taking a shower, so I plopped in front of the dressing mirror with a towel draped around my bosom. Observing my reflection, I stared at the dark circles under my eyes, then at the bruises around the base of my neck. Fresh tears welled up in my eyes as they lingered on the pink abrasions inflicted by Alpha Damon, my soon-to-be partner. But I didn't cry. When I looked up, I saw Tania observing me with her brows creased
★ELAINE'S POV★I was yelling, but my voice was muffled by the large masculine hands enclosed in my mouth. “Shhh....it's me, it's me.” my assailant cooed, but I couldn't identify who the voice actually belong to. So I kept on trying to wriggle free. With a swift maneuver, he whisk me around to face him, one of his hands pressed against the small of my back, and the other cupped my chin. Making my chest press against his hard rocked ones, yet, I could barely see his face. Fear replaced the rage I felt moments ago. “I have been waiting for you, I thought you wouldn't be able to make it, tonight.” He blurts, and I could feel him leaning toward my face because his breath fanned against mine. In truth, I was more disconcerted, pretty much, that I forgot my plight for a second, and I was trying to pinpoint what the hell was going on. I didn't even realize that I had stopped crying until now. But the moment his lips grazed mine, I gathered up my strength and pushed him away from me. My
★ELAINE'S POV★Bile was starting to rise in my throat. I swallowed hard, not knowing how to divulge to them that– my wolf hasn't emerged, yet. Lowering my gaze to my sweaty hands underneath the table, I thought of articulating a lie. But what if the elders ask me to show them? Alas, that would be more humiliating and precarious. So I shoved the thought away from the forefront of my brain, and then I decided to embrace the truth. Okay, here goes nothing. Just as I was about to open my mouth to speak, one of the elders chimed. “Zeta Harold, that question isn't necessary. Even if she has a wolf, it should be the last thing on our mind, because we need a Luna that is willing and accommodating enough to wipe away Alpha Damon's sorrow. We need someone that would bear his pups and make our pack lively. It seems Lady Elaine can do it, so why don't we cut to the chase?” I heaved a sigh of relief, feeling glad that I didn't have to answer that tough question. The moment they realize I'm wolf
★ELAINE'S POV★ “Rise and shine!” My eyes flung open and I stretched out my hands while letting out a yawn. Today is my coronation, but I didn't know how to feel about it. A wave of mixed feelings swept through me. Anxiety, panic, and mostly uncertainty overwhelmed my guts. “Rise and shine!” Tania reiterated, pulling the curtains to my room apart, so a ray of sunlight could illuminate the entire room. “It is time to oppress your oppressors!” What? I let out a brief chortle. “What does that even mean, Tania?” With a charming smile plastered across her beautiful face, she plopped on the mattress beside me. “Last night, when you attended the inaugural ceremony with the Elders and the Alpha, I thought of something.” “Oh really?” I readjusted myself to a sitting position with curiosity piquing my interest. “And what is that?” Tania's neon blue eyes held mine. “It's about our escape plan, my lady. I feel we shouldn't escape for now, because if we do, we will still end up being
★ALPHA DAMON★ The she-wolf's unexpected proclamation made me clench my fist around the arm of the chair I was seated on. What? Cynthia? How? When? Why? Without thinking twice, I jolted to my feet, my pulse quickening. Why does this have to happen today? When will I finally have that peace of mind I yearn for so much? That tranquility! “Guards! Seize Donovan and bring him along with me!” I commanded out of fury, then I urged the she-wolf to lead the way, as I stormed out of the hall, that had already been thrown in an uproar. People were whispering, wondering, and perhaps, confused just like I am. On my way to the Brescia's apartment, I was really hoping Cynthia could still be alive. Plus, I am furious that this occurred today just when I wanted to get the coronation done, so I could get away from all of the ruckus, but it seems, I can't. Who was I kidding? Have I ever had a moment of peace and happiness since I became an Alpha? It has been seven years! Seven freaking years o
★ELAINE'S POV★I rushed between Alpha Damon and Ashley, and his sharp claws scratched my upper arm skin in the process. A loud agonizing cry escaped my lips as I lost my balance and fell to the ground.Everyone in the room gasped in terror. My arm was now scarred, bleeding profusely as blood trickled down to the floor. I was in pain. But I didn't care. Instead, I picked myself up to face Alpha Damon with tears forming a pool in my eyes because of the burning pain. Although I don't have any connection with Ashley, I likened her to my maid, Tania. Because if Tania was in this situation at the moment, I would fight until my last breath to make sure the hair on her head isn't hurt. What happened wasn't Ashley's fault. Delta Donovan was the one looking for her, and if Ashley hasn't gotten a mate just like Tania, does that mean she should be killed because she finally found someone who loves her? Does that mean she should be punished even if the person isn't her mate?As for me, I feel As
★BETA ADRIAN'S POV★“The Alpha is waiting for you inside, Beta." the omega bowed in deference as he step aside for me to enter the tavern. Once inside, there was no sight of people except Alpha Damon and the bartender. The whole atmosphere reeked of alcohol, the stench of vomit, and pungent body odors. Thank goodness, he chased everyone out because I don't think I could have been able to withstand their disgusting sights and foul smell. Alpha Damon sat at the counter, gulping down a large quantity of beer from his special goblet. Heaving a deep sigh, I strolled across the room and pulled out a wooden stool beside him, then I plopped on it. “What is my punishment?" Was the first question that came out of my mouth to him. Since we weren't on good terms at the moment, I felt we might as well skip pleasantries and get down to business. He took another gulp from his goblet, before casting a sideways glance. “What punishment?” “For disrespecting you," I replied shortly. “Because I know
★ALPHA DAMON'S POV★Inhaling deeply, I took a step forward to face Donovan. Fine, I believed he has every reason to be angry with me. Just because he found love with my maid, I humiliated him in front of the pack and almost ended his life. Not only that, I ripped him off the Delta title and banished him from my pack. So yes, he had every right to stay mad at me. “Donovan..." I started. “I didn't mean to come into your house unannounced. And I must add that what you guys have here is beautiful.” “Thank you for making us realize that we are worth so much more." He sneered back. I slowly nod, feeling quite guilty for making hasty decisions without giving it a second thought. But it has already happened. The past can't be changed, yet I could make amends. Taking in another breath, I looked squarely at Donovan before speaking again: “The Delta position has been vacant for so long. What do you say about taking over again? I think it really suits you better.”A faint smile became visibl
★ELAINE'S POV★†Five Months Later†“Touch your mouth." I requested with a smile as I addressed Ashley's one-year-old daughter, Marianne. Alas, she brought her tiny fingers to her lips. “Very good." I commended. “Now, show me your nose." “My nuhsee." She cooed before touching her well-defined small nose. I smiled again in delight. “That's my girl.” Ashley and her husband, Donovan went to the farm, leaving Marianne in my care seeing as I couldn't do any arduous tasks in my state. In truth, they've been supportive and accommodating since the moment I arrived. Ashley was very excited when she found out I was pregnant with a pup, and without judgment, she continuously lectured me about the journey of motherhood. Also, she helped me forget my plight with the Lycanfrost pack in a hurry. Days turned into months, and I found myself getting over the miseries. I was able to wield the courage to acknowledge that my pup doesn't have a father. So I'd have to be his father and mother, train h
★ELAINE★“Why don't you let me go with you, my Lady?" Amy queried apprehensively. I shook my head in refusal for the umpteenth time. “Thank you for helping me pack my luggage, but I'll be fine on my own. I can't subject you to living the kind of life I choose to live.” Having said that, I assisted myself onto the horse's back and grasped its rein tightly between my fist. “This is goodbye, Amy,” I said to her trying not to sound heartbroken. “Thank you for everything you have done for me. Thank you for looking after me up until this moment. You can have your life back now.” “But I have never—” Not letting her complete her statement, I kicked the horse, spurring it to start moving and it instantly started galloping before increasing its pace. Although, riding horses wasn't good for my pregnant state. I had no other choice. I knew I had to be stronger now, not just for myself alone. My unborn pup is inclusive.Once, I turned my head to look at the Lycanfrost pack as I drew further
★ELAINE★“Ow!” My eyelids flutter open with an inaudible groan. It felt like my whole body was rammed against the wall and my head ached so badly. At first, my vision was blurry but little by little, I was starting to adjust to my surroundings, acknowledging that I was now in my chamber. Pulling myself to a sitting position, I saw Gina seated at the foot of the bed, breastfeeding her baby. “Hey, Gina,” I called softly but she didn't respond. “Gina,” I called again, thinking she didn't hear me the first time. Yet, she didn't respond. Making my voice a little louder, I called for the third time. “Gina!" “What?" She yelled back at me and my mouth dropped open in shock. “Why are you disturbing me, Elaine? Of course, I heard you the first, second, and third time. I am not DEAF!” She stressed out the word for me and I couldn't believe my ears. Gina has never reacted in such a manner towards me before. What could be the.....It was then memories of everything that happened before
★ALPHA DAMON★“I- I d-on't understand.” Elaine stuttered, taking two steps back, away from me. The fit of rage burning through my veins was indescribable. I felt like snagging her neck like a twig for doing something this ludicrous to me. My Beta and my Luna? For fuck sake, I have never felt so disrespected until I discovered this has been going on right under my nose for quite a while. “How long have you been sleeping with Adrian?!” I bellowed angrily, making her flinch on her spot. Yet I didn't feel any remorseful about it. “I-it's not what you think, Alph—”“—Then tell me what I'm supposed to think!” I fired back. Not letting her finish her statement. Damn! The angst of being betrayed by the people you once cherished was quite overwhelming. My eyes wandered to Adrian, whose head hung low and hasn't said a word since. Then I returned my glare to Elaine. “You better start talking!” Just then she broke down in tears and went to her knees immediately. “It's not what you think,
★ELAINE★“You are an animal! A fucking psychopath!” I cussed angrily at him. “What did I do, Elai—” Beta Adrian tried to touch me, but I yanked my arm out of his reach. “Don't fucking touch me with those filthy, bloody hands!” I shrieked. “You can't just keep cussing me out, Elaine. If there is something I did wrong, tell me. I won't hesitate to apologize to you, you know that right?" His voice sounded apologetic and warm. If I wasn't aware of his heinous past, I would have thought he was the same saint I fell in love with. The Beta that swept me right off my feet from the very moment I came to this pack. The kindhearted, warm, and loving Beta Adrian. But he isn't anymore. He is nothing but a psychotic asshole! Staring at him blankly for a couple of seconds, I was still trying to wrap my head around how gruesome he could be. Such malicious acts on poor innocent children could never justify his quest for bloodthirsty revenge. The sound of their wails as the blade sliced throug
★ELAINE★I remained in my spot with tears pouring down my cheeks. All these while, I have been living a lie with Beta Adrian. He made me fall in love with him. He made me find solace in him. He made me wish I was never with Alpha Damon in the first place. Yet, he was this cruel? Although Alpha Damon had his dark past, he wasn't as grievous as Beta Adrian. My head was spinning out of its axis and I was struggling to breathe. “What is going on here?" Lady Gina walked into the room, looking from me to Tara and then back to me. Not wanting to say anything, I wiped the tears away from the corner of my eyes. “It is nothing. Tara and I were just going down memory lane. We were reflecting on our past and how far we've come." "Oh!" Lady Gina flashed a bright grin at us. “Everyone has a story. Tara, would you like to hear mine after the party?" Tara shakily responded with a nod. “Yes, I will." “Okay, good...but first, we have to prepare the celebrant for the party.” She whisked me back
★ELAINE★A wave of shock swept through my entire body. Feeling the colors drain from my cheeks, I readjusted myself on the chair and asked; “What do you mean?" Tara took my hand in hers, then pulled me towards the bed and I went, unresisting. My heart was thumping rapidly against my chest. At this rate, it might as well jump right out. Was this the secret Tania mentioned to me that night? I thought to myself and as much as I hoped whatever Tara was going to say would not hurt me. My gut feeling told me it would. “I don't get it, please explain.” “Do you remember when I thanked you for rescuing me, I made a statement that if I had returned to the pack, they would kill me without a second thought because I don't belong there." Nodding my head hastily, I urged her to continue. “Good. I am originally from the silver moon pack." My mind began to race faster than usual. I was struggling to couple up my scattered thoughts together. If I could remember, Beta Adrian had once told me t
★ELAINE★★FOURS DAYS LATER★Seconds rolled into minutes. Minutes into an hour, and hour into days. Soon four days had passed by in a jiffy. I lay fully awake on the bed, but my eyes remained closed. I could not believe that I was finally turning nineteen today. Indeed, that soothsayer was right. A lot has happened since we last spoke and everything she predicted, unfolded right after the other. Today is the day I promised Gina to disclose the news about my pregnancy to Alpha Damon. Yet, I didn't know if I was ready. Would I ever be? I asked myself. Gina hummed softly, whilst folding some of her baby's laundry. Very soon, my baby bump would become visible and there would be no hiding it from the rest of the world. A part of me felt I ought to be grateful that Alpha Damon happened to be the father of my unborn baby. If he wasn't, I didn't want to imagine the catastrophe that would unfold later on. Something soft touched down on my forehead, his scent filling my nostrils at once.
