Erwin forced a smile. “I can understand. He saved you, and I’m thankful too. He’s pretty badly injured, and he’s in the ward right next to yours. I can bring you over to visit him.”

He paused for a moment. Then, as if he summoned his courage, he looked at me and said, “Once you’ve visited him, will you still come back?”

I found his expression funny. He looked anxious. It was as if he was worried that I would go back to Ron. But at the same time, I pitied him for having no sense of security with me.

I hugged him tightly.

“Have more confidence in yourself, silly.

“I love you.”

Ron was indeed hurt badly.

He had multiple parts of his body wrapped up in casts.

When I saw him looking like this, I did not know what to say.

Once he saw me, he gave me an easy smile. “Hey. Come, sit.”

I sat down, just as he asked. “Thanks.”
