Wordlessly they threw back the shots as soon as the bartender set it down and Sierra turned to face him.

“Hi…” She breathed out.

HARSH REALIZATIONAlexa looked stunning in her A-line silk dress, the dress was simply beautiful with a belt of dark blue crystals wrapped around her waist which matched the beads on her veil. The smile on her face was one that could only be associated with pure happiness and seeing the tears in Jefferson’s eyes, she had no doubt he was just as elated. He was undoubtedly marrying the love of his life. The traditional song of ‘Here comes the bride’ was playing through the speakers set up in the garden. It was the perfect day for a fall wedding, early September meant the heat of summer had simmered down and the leaves were starting to turn a warm shade of orange, making for the perfect background before they fell.

CLOSURE“What if I want you to stop me?” She spun around after a moment of contemplation.“I’d never do that to you.” He was trying to be noble, she scoffed.“Roman, I don’t know what you’ve been through, I don’t know what you’re running from and I certainly don’t know what it is your mother is trying to protect you from, but what I do know is that the day you stop running away from things in a bid to protect it, you’ll realize that those are the thighs should have been running towards, because it’s actually worth protecting.” Her parting words felt a weight off her shoulders, she said her bit, now the ball was in his court.

FAMILYThe elevator opened two floors below Sierra’s for a man to enter and the moment his eyes landed on Sierra recognition sparked.“You’re the woman who so boldly kissed my son on stage.” He stated, causing heat to rise on Sierra’s cheeks.“When you put it like that, it sounds a lot worse than intended. My name is Sierra Brightly, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Leek.” He accepted the handshake with narrowed eyes.“Correct me if I am wrong, but you’re the head scientist who created the cure for Diabetes, are you not?” Sierra chuckled lowly and nodded.

She didn’t expect that the tour would be as fulfilling as she found it to be, there was something about visiting old age homes and seeing the hope in people’s faces when they saw the drug.“As we know, Diabetes is amongst the world's worst degenerative diseases because of the large number of the population that it affects and while over the years we have seen a great improvement in treatment which may aid in reducing the long-term effects of the disease, I would like to point out that Anti-Glycosa drug is not a ‘heal all’ it cannot reverse the degeneration alrea

EPILOGUE Sierra closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of the wind in her hair while her sun hat both protected her from the colossal heat of the Californian sun and threatened to fly off. Roman and Sierra were enjoying the view of the coast as they drove along the shoreline on their way to his family’s beach house in Malibu. Elijah’s convertible proved to be the best choice of vehicle for the summertime weather, with the music blasting through the speakers and Sierra and Roman singing along at the top of their voices. “Ahh… This is the life.” Roman sighed when the song trickled to an end. “I think we could use one of these.” She ran her hand over the dashboard lovingly, “But like a Bentley convertible.” Roman eyed her with amus

THE TRUTH A soft thud woke Sierra up from her sleep, she felt a lot stronger than earlier so she decided to check if Roman was okay, pushing open her door, she stopped short when she saw his muscled back facing the door from his position at the window, he had his phone against his ear and a hand in his hair, she wondered if it was a work emergency since he seemed frustrated, but before she could take another step, his harsh voice stopped her. “No. Stop this shit, I’m warning you, Caralynn, if you ever call me again I will make sure you live to regret it. I made myself clear last night, I love Sierra and you have made things difficult enough for me, I won’t tolerate anymore. I’m not the same naive person I used to be. Let’s just say I didn’t handle the situation well.” He cringed at his own words and his mother sighed. “I knew that girl was bad news the day I met her,” Karisa grumbled. “Mom!” Roman groaned.

She didn’t bother peeling her eyes open when she answered the call. “Hello?” She grumbled, suddenly feeling bile rise in her throat. “Sierra, are you okay?” Roman’s concerned voice was clear through the phone, but before she could answer or cut the call, her mouth felt wet. Abandoning the call, she raced to the guest bathroom and threw herself in front of the toilet before the contents of her stomach spewed back out. She felt her head pound and her stomach burned
