Vivian's POVThe day of my discharge finally came and I didn't know how to feel about it. I was finally going to be able to leave Kismet and go to Tondc to start my life afresh. I wondered if everytime it happened if I would always feel this nervous and scared. I mean, it wasn't the first time I was starting my life over.Janice had come in the previous day and helped me pack my belongings for the journey. I got lost in thought again as I looked around, trying to convince myself that I would be fine but how will I know that when I was not alone anymore. I have the twins to think about now too. We hailed down a taxi and entered it to the train station. I almost hid my head in shame as I watched Janice pay for everything. How was she so kind? I wasn't used to people being so kind and caring for me and I just wanted to repay her back for everything but I didn't have to means too. Yet.We got into the train and settled in for the journey because it promised to be a very long journey. Ton
Vivian's POVThe next day, Sarah and I went to the bakery to see her friend. On the way, I couldn't stop admiring the city. It was bustling and busy but still somehow managed to look appealing. Immediately we stepped onto the street of the bakery, the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries travelled through the air and into my nostrils, making me hungry even though I had just eaten before stepping out of the house. I said a silent prayer to the goddess just before we stepped inside. I needed this job.Inside, the bakery was even better than outside as expected, it has a very beautiful feel to it and I just stood and took it all in. I could already imagine myself working here, surrounded by the delicious treats and smells."It's beautiful right?" Sarah smiled "Emily has done well with this space. Come on let's go find her" she said and I followed her as she headed to the back of the bakery, where a woman with an apron covered with flour greeted them. "Look who's making more treats
Vivian."Get lost!" The car driver yelled as I ran in front of him, rushing to meet my colleagues. Why? Cause I was stuck in my hell loop for hours, watching every man reject me over and over again. As I entered the bus, my supervisor immediately lashed out at me, "Where have you been? Why on earth are you late?""I'm so sorry," I gasped, trying to catch my breath. "I overslept.""Overslept, huh?" She scoffed. "You better get in and start preparing to work double time," she said with disgust written all over.Feeling embarrassed and flustered, I rushed to my seat at the end of the bus with my head low and a racing heart from all the running. We arrived at the venue shortly after and all the ushers dressed in red shirts and black pants filed in a straight horizontal line awaiting the orders of the supervisor."Vivian, you are in charge of drinks distribution and coordination. Under you are Cole, Meena, Jackson, and your other teammates." My supervisor announced."Drinks?" I mumbled to
"What?!'' I half yelled.I took a deep breath, trying to think of a solution. "Listen to me, Eunice. I'll find a way to get the key back. I am coming back right now.''My cries intensified as I hung up, not knowing what I would do because now that I was terminated from work, my salary also went down the drain with it.How would I raise enough money to get them to let us back into the house in less than twenty-four hours?I tried to think of a solution but nothing came to mind. I had no boyfriend or friends to beg for help. No savings or salary to fall back to either.Just as I was lost in tears and thoughts, the door opened, and my heartless supervisor walked in, "There you are. The CEO of the company we are ushering for wants to see you. Seems like he wants to punish you himself for almost poisoning him," she snickered, disgust laced in her voice. With a hiss, she strolled out, and I sat there with a shocked face. Poisoning him? First, they claimed I made the lady take a drink she w
I followed the address and when I arrived, i was directed to where I'd meet the CEO. "Shit!” I cursed as I recognized him as the man I bumped into back in the event hall. "He was nice back then. Does that mean he'lol be nice to me now?" I asked myself to calm my nerves as I walked towards him, but that wasn't the only thing. I felt drawn to him for some unknown reason."Mr. Brown," I began, my voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions inside me. He couldn't be my mate, could he?"Take her away!" He ordered, not sparing me a glance. I ran to him, dodging the hefty men approaching. I bowed and held his feet, tears streaming down my face."Please, Mr. Brown, I beg of you. Pardon me. I didn't mean for my team to serve the drink. It was a mistake. Please forgive me," I begged. His loud voice rang in the room, thundering in my ears, "Vivian or whatever it is you're called! Tell me, why should I not kill you? You poisoned my woman!” He roared and stood up, towering over me like a sky
My head was aching terribly as I tried to open my eyes. Where was I?When my eyes finally opened properly, I looked around and saw that I was no longer in the ugly room, but in was befitting for royalty. The bed was soft and everything looked like it fell from heaven, but what was I doing here. I turned my head to the other side of the room and let out a small gasp when I saw the CEO sitting on a chair with his eyes closed. Was he sleeping? Or was he unconscious? I had no idea what must have happened the night before.I quietly uncovered myself with the blanket that was covering me and I picked my almost tattered shoe from the floor and started tiptoeing as quietly as I could. I was making some progress but immediately I picked up the pace, even though it was as quiet as I could, I didn't go as far as reaching the door when his eyes immediately shot open and he looked at me."Where do you think you're going to?" His voice was cold, and I immediately froze on the spot.“No where, I jus
Vivian.Immediately, he left, and the realization hit me hard in the face. Unlike every other situation that I've found myself in, there was no way out of this one. I was stuck there with Axel for as long as he wanted me to be. I used my hand to locate the bed and I fell on it helplessly. I was alone in this. Totally alone. After getting myself together for a little while, I finally opened the document and I started from the beginning to read the document one after the other and line by line. Each line got worse from the last one, and I couldn't believe that this was going to be my life. One of the rules termed me as his temporary wife or rather his temporary baby-making machine because that was only what he wanted me for. To give him babies. I was looking for anywhere there was a loophole in the contract but with my chances of escape already slim to none, whoever wrote the contract paid attention to details closely.I was to always stay indoors and never leave the house, no matter w
Vivian.Life at the mansion continued to be boring, and I was slowly losing my mind. I would always be indoors, and sometimes I would hear Axel's voice coming from somewhere within the house, but I never for once saw him in my room. He just acted like I didn't exist. One afternoon, one of the maids brought my food to me, and out of curiosity, I asked her about Axel because I had not heard his voice in the house for two days now,"Do you know when Axel is going to come to the house again?" She paused midway as she was pouring out some fresh juice for me, as if I had asked her a forbidden question or said something that was bad,"I'm sorry, did I say anything that was bad? I didn't mean it like that, I just wanted to know about Axel's whereabouts, but it's okay if you don't know about it." I apologized and she shook her head."No. You didn't say anything terrible, Miss. It's just that I'm not used to hearing anybody other than Miss Elizabeth, call the Alpha-to-be by his real name", sh

Vivian’s POVA few days after the birth of the kids, life felt great, with Janice taking care of me and always bringing me food. She had explained to me how she had found me. Apparently, the group of women I had seen pointing at me while I walked home that afternoon, had seen a poster that Janice had made when she realized that I had gone missing and they informed her right away. She had already gotten news from someone else that had seen me on the streets so she was already in town when the women informed her and she came rushing. I wondered what would have happened if she had not come to look for me that night.I was so grateful but deep down I knew that I had to start thinking of a way I was going to handle my situation because things were not going to be like this forever. One afternoon, just as I had finished feeding the kids and putting them to sleep, the door opened and in came Janice,“Hey there my love” she greeted, setting the black bag she was carrying on a table “How are
Vivian's POVThe contractions were not as bad as I expected and that was because it was only the beginning of my labor and in a normal circumstance, it would have been the perfect time for me to have started my journey to a hospital but that was not even a possibility because I had no money for a hospital. I looked around me, it was dark already so I just had to bear the contraction pain till dawn and maybe get a passerby to help me deliver the babies.I felt the tears well up in my eyes but closed it and tried to get some sleep. I would need the energy when it was time to push the kids out but it didn't take more than a few minutes before I felt a very sharp pain. This was not merely a contraction but a warning. I had tried to ignore the previous ones, hoping they would stop until dawn but now, I knew I couldn't deny it any longer. I was in full time labor.I felt my chest contract with panic as I looked around, it was dark and I was alone, there was no how I was going to find anyone
Elizabeth's POVI blinked once to clear my eyes, opened them and then blinked again but the image before me remained and did not change. One minute I was paying for my groceries at the store's counter and the next minute, Vivian was standing right in front of me just very further away. Was I hallucinating? Cause I had taken a lot of alcohol before stepping out but a third blink of my eye revealed that I was not and she was indeed standing before me.The moment froze while our eyes met and the anger in me at her, for everything she had done before her disappearance and after especially Axel's behavior towards me, all came rushing to the surface and what more the fact that she was pregnant? I thought the news was that she lost the baby? But that was a lie obviously. I was going to kill her. I had to. I quickly signalled to my bodyguards and pointed to her "Get her" I commanded and I watched as she turned swiftly on her feet and dashed off. She was too fast considering that size of her s
Vivian's POVGoing from my new house to the hospital was not much of a hassle because there was a bus stop right in front and the fare was not a lot at all. I was happy with my life. I was glowing, my stomach was growing. Everything was just perfect and I was reveling in it until one evening.I had just finished my shift and was heading back home. My plan had been to take the bus but since I hadn't properly exercised in a few days, I made a last minute decision to walk home. On my way, I stopped by at a small store to buy some fruits and just as I was making a turn towards the counter, I stopped dead in my tracks and held back a gasp because standing right there at the counter was someone I had not expected to ever see in my life ever again. Elizabeth. What was she doing here? Inside the store? In town and even in the country? Had she come to find me so she could finish me off herself since Axel failed in doing that by himself? The only thing my brain was screaming to me was to run b
18Vivian's POVThe doctor was very patient with me until I finished crying and immediately I started to feel embarrassed,"I'm so sorry for going off like that" I apologized and she shook her head at me"Oh you don't need to apologize, it was necessary that you let all that feeling out" she smiled kindly and I gave her an awkward nod if my head. I took the time of the silence that followed to look around the room. It was a small space really and everything was well arranged except for the few specks of dust I noticed on the curtains and the little table at the far right corner of the room. Immediately a thought occurred to me. I could totally help them wash the curtains and clean up the tables as a cleaner or something and in exchange, they give me some money so I can cater for myself and my children when they were born."Doctor?" I looked at her and she smiled at me. I liked her already, she had this warm persona to her and it made me feel like I could ask for anything and not be sc

She said and I nodded"The other side of Kismet is very good in respect to jobs and livelihood but it is also very dangerous. So you should always keep your eyes open and be alert" she told me and I nodded again. Before she said that, I had already figured out that this part of town was for the locals and the other part was the more developed part of the country but as nothing was moving for me here, I had to go and see what the other part held for me."I will. Thank you so much. I would never forget your help" I said to her before picking up the small bundle of clothes she had been so generous to give to me and starting on my way.
