Chapter Thirty-Three - Vengence
Balors' POV
Imelda and I rushed into my place, and I didn't waste any time. I headed right for my room and into my closet. I walked right to the back of the closet.
I slipped my hand behind the back shelf, running my fingers along the edge until I felt the thin wooden box. I pulled it out and opened it, grabbing the red leather handle of the silver knife I forged when I was sixteen.
It was one of the first things Keith ever had me make. The knife as a whole was small. The blade was a little wonky, and the tip ended in a small point. But it was something I made and was proud of it. I was an expert by the time I was eighteen and one of Keith's best apprentices. But this knife held great significance to me.
I stormed out of the room, heading into the kitchen and placing it down on the marble count
Chapter Thirty-Four - VenomReyna's POVI was dragged out of the arena, not given a chance to understand what I had honestly just encountered. Not inky did I kill two boys, but they were also wolves.Werewolves are real. I knew that now. But for some reason, I wasn't scared by that newfound realization. Instead, I was afraid for the others he might have had captured and locked away here.He made them out to be vicious monsters, but those two boys were anything but evil. Instead, they were two scared children forced to fight for their lives.Maybe luck did exist, and I was gifted two werewolves who still had some good left in their hearts.
Chapter Thirty-Five - VictoriousBalor's POV"I have scouts heading in each direction of the city. If there is a camp around there, we will find it." Lincoln assured me.I sat at my desk, tapping my foot anxiously, trying to find a way to make things move faster."What has Aunt Cass said about all of this?""She's furious about how everything has been handled. Mom doesn't like being kept in the dark, and after yesterday's new report, she's a little more than anxious about getting everything resolved. So she has helped set up the scouts. Making sure only the best of the best get sent out. Even Dad went out with the group to give a hand." I nodded."We will find her and bring her ho
Chapter Thirty - Six - FateReyna's POVI felt like I had an out-of-body experience before reality crashed back into me. This wasn't a dream; I had been captured and tortured. I had faced a werewolf head-on and knew they weren't what they were made out to be. My mind was spinning. On top of that, the weird tingling sensation I felt when I first woke up seemed only to exist when I touched Balor. My brain was still in a fog; I remembered Ivan stabbing my leg. But now the pain was gone, and only dried blood seemed to remain. Adding only more questions to my ever-growing list of what the fuck is happening.I had seemed to reenter my body before exiting the cavern that the devil himself carved out for me. But now, I was staring straight into the eyes of a werewolf—one who had just been a mere human seco
Chapter Thirty - Seven - CrossroadsBaker's POVI didn't get any sleep last night. I kept reliving our conversation over and over in my head. The way her face paled as she took in what I had said. Reyna didn't even give me a chance to explain anything else. She excused herself from the office, and I was too much of a coward or too bullheaded to follow her.Maybe even both.I knew she was safe on pack territory, and even Flint agreed that we should give her some space. But I didn't expect it to bother me so damn much.So now I'm sitting at the island in the packhouse, nursing a cup of coffee silently beside Lincoln."Think this is the longest you've gone without speaking. It's a new world
Chapter Thirty-Eight - HesitationReyna's POVI woke to the smell of bacon in the air. My stomach growled, demanding that it be fed. For a moment, everything felt completely normal until I opened my eyes and was greeted by the unfamiliar room once again. This time it looked different as the sun peaked through the window. It's warmth kissing the ebony wood floors. The walls were almost black in colour, matching the curtains. The desk was covered in books and paperwork. And when I looked at the bookshelf, I could see the titles of the books that were both old and new, a couple I had never seen before. Most were books about cities and different countries. But there were a few novels thrown in there too.My stomach sent out another reminder of the food that wa
Chapter Thirty-Nine - Second - ThoughtsBalor's POV"You're an idiot, dude," Lincoln muttered as he threw his keys on the counter. His pissed-off aura mixed with my own irritation.I wasn't in the mood to deal with stupidity. And walking in and saying dumb shit like that was the definition of stupid."Why does it matter to you what I do?" I snapped"Why? You can't be that stupid, can you? It matters because not only are we family, but you're also my best fucking friend, Balor. Your head is so far up your own ass you don't see how wrong you really are.""Wrong about what, Link?" He shook his head, trying to leave before it escalated, but I was looking for a fight, and Lincoln just happened to walk in at the wrong ti
Chapter Forty- LostReyna's POVLost is the only word that can describe how I feel these last few days. The world had its secrets, and now I was another person who had sworn to keep them.I knew why I had done it, not because the world would think I was insane, but because deep down, I knew it was something that needed to be protected.I had learned so much in such a short amount of time; it took days for it to really sink in. But, what really sent me over the edge was when I returned to work, and no one batted an eye at my sudden appearance.Lincoln told me they had everything covered, and I didn't have to worry. But, I was too consumed with my thoughts to really think too hard about it at the time. But when Sullivan ran up to me and s
Chapter Forty-One - RegretBalor's POVReyna nodded before following me out of the noisy club and into the VIP lounge. I had the guards empty this half so we could talk. She looked around the room before shifting her focus on me. The leather top and skirt she was wearing hugged her figure perfectly. My dick twitched as I looked her up and down. The thought of her wearing this to attract another guy made Flint highly territorial.I forced my eyes to return to hers. Her hazel green eyes narrowed as she looked at me. She was the first to break the silence."Not to go all Be
Bonus chapter - A MessageBalor's POV So many voices whispered in the darkness—the haze too thick to tell whether this was a dream or a vision. I felt trapped. My body felt like it was weighed down but also nonexistent."She's coming."A voice whispered through all the noise"One shall fall. The other shall rise. In a fight of fire and ice, a Phoenix will be reborn."Another whispered a little louder. "Bound by life, only death can break the curse." A voice said from farther away."You must hurry if you wish to win. Accept the fate, and the end will come." They all seemed to hiss in unison.I tried to speak, but my mouth was sealed shut, my lips gone. Panic started to rise in me as I tried to fight the darkness. It was pulling me under faster and faster, hands and shadows swirling around me, grabbing and scratching at my skin and pulling at my arms and legs. Flashes of death crossed my mind. A woman, cloaked in shadows, sitting on the throne. Chaos throughout all realms spilling out i
EpilogueReyna's POVI let out a deep breath. The air here was so different. Fresher, purer than what I was used to. Even after six months in Vancouver, it took me by surprise."Now," Piper whispered into her earpiece. In one swift move, I jumped from my hiding place. My stomach flipped as I jumped from the ten-foot drop, landing right onto a brown wolf.I stabbed my needle of wolfsbane into his neck. He tried to buck me off, letting out a vicious snarl, but I held on tightly. The wolf flipped onto its back, slamming me into the forest floor. I let out a gasp, my lungs struggling to expand from having the wind knocked out of me.The wolf rolled off of me, preparing to lunge at me. But a blur of silver ju
Chapter Forty- Eight - New BeginningsReyna's POVIt was hard to believe it had already been two weeks since Ivan was captured. The media went into a frenzy about it. Especially when Ivan begged them to believe he wasn't who he was said to be. The cherry on top was the statement he released when he pled not guilty to the charges. Claiming a wolf and his psychotic daughter framed him, I had a great laugh at the officers as they tried to take me in to prove his claims true or false.I even had a few reporters and news stations request an interview with me about it all. Most wanted to know how I felt about it all, especially how I felt about it being solved after I handed it over to a new detective. It even added another reason to the ever-growing list that captain dipshit was building against me to get me
Chapter Forty-Seven - DesolationReyna's POVIvan's head snapped up at the sound of my voice. His eyes were nowhollow and sunken in. His beard was a dishevelled mess, his hair in need of a good wash. I might have pitied the man before me if I was a better person.I may have even felt an ounce of shame for what I was about to put him through. Maybe I might have even tried to understand what had happened to him to turn him into such a monster, tried to understand how he became so heartless and cold. But I was a long ways away from the girl I once was. She was lost the day she received the news of her sister's death. When she was told how her sister had been brutally raped before she was murdered, her body ripped to shreds. She could no longer be saved once the man who was supposed to help us. Support us. Lo
Chapter Forty-Six - MatesReyna's POV"Are you sure you want to do this?" Balor asked. I stared out the window of his blacked-out range rover. Watching the trees pass us by as we moved down the backroads. We had decided that it was better to head right out after breakfast and set out to destroy the man who tried to kill Balor's family and me.I turned to him, giving him a nod. Most people would consider me to be just as psychotic as my father for doing this.Hell, most people would have had me committed as soon as I mentioned mythical beings being real. But this wasn't a delusion, and the fucker had it coming. He would pay for not only taking Vicky away from me but f
Chapter Forty-Five - OblivionBalor's POVI looked up at Reyna. She seemed extremely calm after the blow-up she just had. Maybe it was all the stress or the fact that it was all still so fresh that she didn't fully comprehend what I told her, what I had just admitted to her.But as I looked closely, I noticed she had a glint in her eye that seemed oddly familiar. It reminded me of all the times whenImelda and Nesrin would scheme about ways they were going to get me back for the pranks I had pulled on them."What do you mean?" I asked, not wanting her to change her mind."You say Ivan is still alive." I nodded.
Chapter Forty-Four - HuntedReyna's POVI swallowed hard, slowly turning towards the creature that was now behind me.Every fibre in my body told me to run in the opposite direction as I faced her."Are you a friend of Balor's?" She hummed at my question, the hairs on my arms standing up instantly at the dark sound of her voice."More like forced allies.""What is your name?" I asked, and she hissed at me before turning to look towards the end of the hall. I wanted to scream at the terrifying woman, but I forced myself to stay quiet. Two men ran around the corner, and before they could even register what
Chapter Forty-Three - The ReaperReyna's POVSlowly I came to. My head was heavy and throbbing. I could still feel the spot where the needle had been jammed into my neck. I looked up, seeing double of a man in a god-awful green suit. The creepy vibes clicked into place as I recognized Leon standing in front of me."Not you again," I groaned. I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to focus. My head was pounding from whatever drug they gave me to knock me out. I was now stuck seeing double of the world's ugliest gnome. And no one deserves to be cursed with such atrocities."Don't you have anything better to do than try and bait a lone wolf with anger issues?" I mused in a bored tone.
Chapter Forty-Two - DealsBalor's POVI stood in front of my kitchen sink, blade in hand. I knew I had to do this because I could only track their headquarters down using his help.I'd seen this happening in the rush of visions I had after making a deal with Imelda. But I didn't think it would actually happen. Some visions were so prominent, while others were almost transparent. Which meant the likely hood of them coming true was slim. That seemed to be the way things were happening lately. The most unlikely roots in the future were swirling to life before my very eyes."I never in a million years would have thought our lives would have become this," I muttered.
