Chapter Sixty-Eight

The night air was overwhelming with tension as Marcus, Clara, and Ethan stood at the edge of the forest, gazing into the expanding abyss where their last fight awaited. The shadows turned and writhed underneath, a living, breathing entity that debilitated to devour everything in its way. But they knew they had no choice, they had to plummet into the profundity and protect Mariam and the others caught inside.

Ethan, still exhausted from his fight against the heart of the chasm, fixed his hold on Clara's hand. “Are you certain about this?” he inquired, his voice raspy but determined.

Clara nodded, her eyes filled with resolve. “We can’t leave them down there, Ethan. They’re counting on us.”

Marcus stepped forward, his eyes scanning the darkness below. “We’ll make it through,” he said, his tone firm. “We’ve come a long way not to succeed.”
