Chapter Seventy

Anita pov

Darius chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “Alright, fair enough,” he said, leaning against the counter. “But if you change your mind, just let me know.”

I nodded, turning back to my task, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of his gaze on me, the warmth of his presence filling the room. It was comforting, in a way, but also unsettling. I wasn’t used to this kind of attention, wasn’t sure how to handle it.

As I finished chopping the vegetables, Darius reached out, gently brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. “You’re doing great, Anita,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m proud of you.”

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt my cheeks flush with heat. I opened my mouth to say something, but before I could, the kitchen door slammed open, and Alpha Orion stormed in, his expression thunderous.

“What the hell is going on in here?” he demanded, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at Darius.
