As I walked out of the room, a frown creased my brow. Alexis’s behavior had struck me as peculiar, but try as I might, I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it meant.

Thoughts swirled in my mind, attempting to decipher the enigma that she presented, but they remained elusive, slipping through my grasp like sand.

I replayed the scene in my head, searching for clues, for any hint of what was going on behind Alexis’s guarded expression.

Was there something she was hiding? Had I missed a subtle change in her demeanor? My mind tirelessly sifted through memories, desperately trying to make sense of it all.

But no matter how hard I thought, nothing substantial emerged. It was as if I was grasping at shadows, chasing after phantoms that vanished as soon as they materialized.

Alexis’s behavior simply defied explanation, leaving me feeling perplexed and somewhat uneasy.
