CHAPTER 4
Myra awakens, on to find herself immersed in blood. Her bed was completely soaked, and her child was nowhere to be found. She was back in the delivery room, and she could smell the presence of the Alpha King. There was a huge hold on the stone wall, and the wind was pouring in ice flakes vigorously. Her mind began to race as she yelled for her daughter."Alistair!" She cried, leaping for the door and banging on it with all her strength. She kept banging till her hands reddened, her skin battered and ready to bleed. Just then, she heard a loud cackle, and the scent of a different blood wafted past her nose. The Alpha King slowly emerges from a dark corner of the room, his mouth obviously moving like he was chewing down on something. His jaws were blood-stained, and his hands held what seemed to be like the remnants of a baby. Her baby."I asked for a son," was all he could day as he turned around and bit on what was left of the child. Myra morphs into her wolf form, anger boiling within. She leaps towards the Alpha King, ready to take him down with all she's got left."Myra," a calm voice jolts her up, and she realized she had been dreaming. It was the same dream she's been having for weeks since she had escaped her clan. She got up from the bed and rushed to the cradle where she had slept off watching her child days prior. She was sleeping so peacefully, a huge smile on her face. Like an antidote, her fear vanished instantly, taking in the beauty of her child. His child."Are you okay, Myra?" the voice asks, and she turns to him, nodding in response.Myra managed to travel a few miles away from her clan. She was surprised to not have encountered any rogue wolf along the way, as they would be more than happy to eliminate the heir of the very Alpha who banished them all.Or most of them.Just when the pains became unbearable, and when she bled more, Myra collapsed on the ice floor. And that was how Augustine Powell had found her. Naked. Bleeding. Pale. And with a child. He was on an exploration to discover the so-called microorganisms the US government were brewing in the Antarctic region, to see if he could engineer explosives that would bring an end to them all before they even thought about bringing them to other parts of the world."I should get your breakfast; it's getting cold." he added before exiting the room.Myra stared at the room just like she did when Augustine had brought her into the house for the first time. She was relieved at how awestruck she was. It was quite different from what they had back at her clan. It wasn't superior, but the fact that it was clearly varying made her wonder what more was different about the humans. She had always believed the reason why her wolf kind lived in Antarctica and kept little to no relations with humans was due to rumors of how dangerous, cunning and self-centered they could get, as they could to any lengths to satisfy their interests. Augustine has changed this perspective of hers, and she was grateful she met someone like him.She walks up to the window, taking a look at her sleeping baby before immersing herself in the beautiful morning view of Kentucky. The landscape her clan was embedded in did little to no aid in letting them have a good view of the rising sun. Asides from the roads lined with cobblestone and the palace grounds, Myra count recall where else in her clan she had spotted dry Earth. Her eyes shifted from the glowing orange orb to the neighboring houses, each standing as tall as Augustine's, and some, even higher. And for the first time in what felt like eternity, Myra felt peace. She closed her eyes, taking in the fresh scent of the morning air which wasn't as cold and torturing, imagining what the rest of her life in the human world will be like.* * *Oswald takes a deep breath before proceeding to the King's chambers. Greetings came from guards, servants and handmaidens, and Oswald, as always, took his time to respond politely. He noticed some guards giving an extra smile, and some royals being more courteous."They prefer you to the Alpha King," a younger Baron always pointed out."That's a lie. They are just being nice to me." a younger him would retort. There was no longer a need for denial. Only he didn't have to come out clean with his intentions. Not yet. But the Alpha King has to know the truth still.Oswald noticed there were lesser guards around the King's chamber, and he could make out the voices of him grunting. The door swings open, and there he was, making out with a handmaiden. Or a prostitute, Oswald couldn't tell. They seemed to be lost in whatever they were doing that they didn't recognize Oswald's presence. That explains the absence of guards.Oswald clears his throat, announcing his presence. The Alpha King opened his eyes, disappointed to see Oswald. He grabs the maiden and throws her across the room, clearly dissatisfied."Your life hangs on the balance after what you did with that useless girl, and you dare to barge into my chambers now?"Oswald remained quiet. Patient. He took a glance at the maiden who could care less she was flung across the room just moments ago. She grabbed her silk dressing and scurried out of the room. Oswald picked up a scent of fresh blood. They came from the lady's back. The claws of the Alpha King.Oswald closed the door after the maiden and gestured to the King. "Please, sit.""If this isn't worth my time, you are —""Aeron," Oswald said with pleading eyes, "please."Aeron settles down, his stare less intense."Many months ago, I made findings about something, and … it led back to you. To our father."The Alpha King propped himself on the bed, grabbing a robe to cover up. He could tell this was going to be a serious discussion."What about him?" He purred.Oswald sighs, "You are cursed, Aeron. And it's because of our father's mistakes."Aeron stares at Oswald, disbelief clouding his mind."Cursed?"•CHAPTER 5Aeron and Oswald stared at each for what felt like eternity, one trying to read the other's next move. Disbelief was a new emotion the Alpha King processed; one which he couldn't remember when he had felt something similar."Who told you this?" Aeron asks."The Pack’s wizard." Oswald blurted.Aeron almost burst into laughter. "That imbecile?! How many times have I told you not to trust his —""Many years ago, our father had affiliations with a widow," Oswald interjected, "and he banished her to keep his secret safe with him. She has placed a curse on our father." He turned to Aeron. "She placed a curse on you too.""What was her curse?""She cursed you to know and decide nothing other than evil. I guess that explains your … powers." Oswald said, unsure of how to proceed.Aeron could tell he was holding back. "Go on," he purred, surprised by his impatience."She … cursed you to be evil and to be known for nothing other than evil. She had mentioned that if you don't sacrifice
Chapter 6– Outside Of The PackThe rogues smiled as they noticed the man behind their miseries was alone. Aeron had left the pack with no guards. He wanted to approach Myra by himself, if really what Oswald had revealed to him then he needed to placid Myra in order to get the daughter he rejected.Aeron’s ears perked and his feet tapped the floor impatiently as he waited for the rogues to attack. “Not so mighty now, are you?” The rogue teased, his canines barred in an attempt to scare the Alpha King.Aeron turned to him, a mischievous smile on his face as he strolled lazily away from the rogues. He didn’t get to ten steps before one of the rogues jumped at him, almost catching him off guard but Aeron was prepared for it. His claws dashed out in attack, clawing the chest of the rogue that had attacked while he jumped out of the way evading the rogue's touch. When other rogues saw what had happened, they all jumped towards him at once. With fury and determination in his eyes, Aeron beg
Chapter 7The King EnterpriseWith a deep breath Myra sighed as she took her steps into the gigantic building which still somehow didn’t cease to amaze her. Her senses was alight, all thanks to her being a werewolf. “Hi, I have an…”“Room 56, the office by the left,” the receptionist cut her shot as she chew her gum.Myra smiled gratefully at the receptionist and made her way towards Room 56. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, a mix of nervousness and excitement. This job meant everything to her. It was her chance to prove herself capable of taking care of not just herself, but also her baby.Pushing open the door, she found herself face-to-face with a middle-aged man, his eyes glued to his laptop screen. His disheveled hair and worn-out suit hinted at the long hours he must have put into his work. Myra cleared her throat to get his attention, not wishing to interrupt, but unable to suppress her nerves any longer.Startled, the manager looked up, and the moment their eye
Chapter 8Myra stood in front of her closet, carefully selecting her outfit for her first day as a secretary. She wanted to look professional yet stylish, confident yet approachable. After much consideration, she decided on a chic black pencil skirt that hugged her curves and a vibrant coral-colored blouse that highlighted her warm complexion. Completing the ensemble were her favorite nude heels, a silver bracelet, and delicate pearl earrings. As she stepped into the living room, ready for her big day, Augustine's eyes widened in appreciation. His gaze lingered on her, taking in her beautiful appearance. In that moment, he couldn't help but admire her grace and attractiveness."Myra, you look absolutely stunning," Augustine said, breaking his silence. His voice was filled with admiration and warmth.A blush colored Myra's cheeks as she smiled and replied, "Thank you, Augustine. Your kind words mean a lot to me."Noticing the hint of nervousness in her eyes, Augustine walked over and g
Chapter 9Alpha Aeron stepped into the human world for the first time, his eyes wide with astonishment. Unlike the ice and snow of his Arctic kingdom, he found himself surrounded by towering buildings, bustling streets, and a cacophony of unfamiliar sounds. It was a stark contrast to everything he had known. His gaze shifted to the humans around him, their clothing and hairstyles strikingly different from his own. Aeron's long dreadlocks, which had been a symbol of power and majesty in his kingdom, seemed out of place amidst their neatly styled hair. But what surprised him the most was their reaction to his presence. As he walked through the crowd, he noticed that instead of showing fear or reverence, they looked at him with mockery, disgust, or amusement. Their laughter echoed in his ears, piercing his pride and igniting a fire within him.Just then, a man approached him, the smirk on his face evident. "Lost your way from the studio, buddy?" he jeered, his tone dripping with condesce
Chapter 10Myra stepped out of her sleek, black sedan, a reflection of her hard-earned success - a shiny Mercedes-Benz E-Class. She had worked tirelessly alongside Augustine for nearly four months, and her dedication had paid off. The hefty paycheck she received allowed her to indulge in luxuries she had once only dreamt of, including this impressive car.As she entered the daycare, the sound of children's laughter filled her ears, bringing a smile to her face. Allistar, her adorable five-month-old daughter, was surely among them. Myra's heart fluttered with anticipation as she made her way towards the room where Allistar spent her day.Opening the door, Myra was greeted by a chorus of joyful giggles. Her eyes quickly found her little bundle of joy, her daughter Allistar, sitting in a circle with the other children. Their eyes met, and Allistar's face lit up with delight. She stretched her tiny arms towards her mother, her laughter contagious."Hey, my sweet angel!" Myra cooed, swoopi
Chapter 11Augustine's eyes widened in disbelief as he listened to Myra's astonishing revelation. He shook his head vigorously, trying to collect his thoughts and make sense of the unbelievable situation unfolding before him. Finally, he found his voice and stammered, "Wait! So you're saying there is a monster out there looking for you?"Myra, her expression pained, quickly interjected, "No, Augustine, he's not a monster. He's... complicated."Augustine cut her off, a mix of confusion and frustration in his voice. "Complicated? From everything you've told me about how this alpha Aeron behaves, the only word that fits is 'monster'! Please, Myra, don't defend him. You described his actions as monstrous."Myra sighed, understanding Augustine's perspective but feeling conflicted. She stared at him earnestly. "Augustine, you don't understand. Aeron is my... fated mate."Augustine's eyes widened in shock once again. He struggled to find the right words, his voice trembling. "Your fated mate
Chapter 12Alpha Aeron sat at a table in the bustling restaurant, about to dig into his meal when suddenly, a familiar and alluring scent wafted through the air. His nostrils twitched as he recognized it instantly as his Luna's, Myra."Ahh, Myra's scent," he muttered, his stomach growling in response. "She must have been here before me."With his hunger momentarily forgotten, Aeron made up his mind to go in search of his beloved Luna. He hurriedly scooped up a spoonful of food, practically inhaling it, before pushing his plate away."I need to find her," he declared, determination filling his voice. "No time to waste."Aeron dashed out of the restaurant, his powerful strides carrying him through the streets as he followed Myra's elusive scent. But with each step, frustration began to creep into his words."She's so close, yet the scent keeps fading," he grumbled, cursing his luck. "Where could she be?"As the sun began to dip below the horizon, Aeron's exhaustion weighed heavy on him.
EpilogueAeron laughed heartily as he tossed a colorful ball back and forth with Allistar in the living room, their playful banter filling the air with joy and warmth. Despite his initial hesitance, Aeron had eventually relented, allowing Myra to go to the grocery store while he stayed back to spend quality time with Allistar. Little did he know that an unexpected turn of events was about to unfold. As they played, Aeron got a mindlink from Myra, her urgent thoughts flooding his mind. "Aeron, the baby is coming. I'm in labor. Please come to the grocery store right away."The realization sank in, and a sense of urgency washed over Aeron. Without a moment's hesitation, he gathered the groceries they had bought and swiftly lifted Allistar into his arms, explaining the situation in a hurry."Come on, peaches, we have to go to the grocery store. It's time to meet your little brother," Aeron said with a mix of excitement and reassurance, his tone conveying the sense of anticipation that fil
Chapter 110The soft glow of evening cast a warm ambience in Aeron and Myra's cozy living room, the gentle flicker of candlelight dancing across the walls. Myra, her baby bump clearly visible now, sat on the couch, a look of frustration etched on her features. Aeron, sitting opposite her in an armchair, gazed at her with a mix of amusement and concern.Myra's mood had been unpredictable lately, a common symptom of her advancing pregnancy, and today was no exception. She fidgeted with the remote control, her brows furrowed as she struggled to find the perfect movie to watch, her emotions teetering on the edge."Aeron, I just can't find anything that feels right!" Myra exclaimed, her frustration palpable. Aeron tilted his head, suppressing a smile as he tried to hide his amusement, knowing well that pregnancy tantrums were a part of the journey ahead."I could help you look for something. What are you in the mood for?" Aeron offered, his voice calm and soothing.Myra sighed, her gaze fl
Chapter 109Myra and Aeron were in the midst of preparing breakfast when the joyous sound of little feet echoed in the kitchen. Allistar, their bright-eyed and adventurous four-year-old daughter, burst into the room, clutching a colorful painting in her tiny hands. Aeron's eyes lit up as he saw her approach, a warm smile embracing his features. "Daddy, look what I made!" Allistar exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement.Myra shook her head with a tender smile, a gentle reproach in her voice. "Allistar, how many times will I tell you not to run in the house?" Allistar's eyes widened in innocence as she looked up at her mother. "But Daddy says I can run when I become a big girl. I just turned four, so I'm a big girl now," she protested with all the conviction of a child.Aeron scooped her up into his arms and twirled her around, his laughter filling the air. "Of course, you're a big girl, Allistar, and big girls also obey their mothers," he reminded her gently before setting her
Chapter 108As the golden sunlight bathed the palace garden in a warm glow, Aeron labored diligently, stirring pots and arranging fragrant bouquets under the vibrant canopy of blossoming trees. Soft laughter escaped his lips as he meticulously set the table with ornate silverware, fairy lights twinkling like stars above. The tantalizing aroma of exotic spices and delicacies intermingled with the invigorating scent of dewy petals, infusing the air with a sense of enchantment.Aeron checked that everything was in place, a pleased smile gracing his features. He tiptoed back into the palace to retrieve Myra, his heart aflutter with anticipation. Upon returning to her side, he gently bound a silken blindfold over her eyes, his touch feather-light and tender. With the utmost care, he guided her through the labyrinthine corridors, her trust unwavering despite her curiosity. As they drew closer to the garden, Aeron's footsteps quickened, brimming with eagerness, until they finally came to a h
Chapter 107The dense forest loomed around Aeron like a living labyrinth, each tree a sentinel guarding its secrets. His voice echoed through the stillness, a desperate call searching for any sign of life. "Is anyone there?" he shouted, but the only response was the rustle of leaves in the wind.Undeterred, Aeron began to walk, the towering trees closing in around him, casting shadows that danced in the dappled moonlight. His footsteps seemed to be swallowed by the silent expanse, and a sinking feeling settled in his chest as the forest embraced him in its enigmatic grasp. As he wandered deeper, Aeron's sense of direction faltered, and the forest became an endless maze. Panic clawed at the edges of his mind, urging him to escape the suffocating greenery. In the distance, a cave yawned open like a dark maw, a potential escape from the wilderness that threatened to swallow him whole.Aeron cautiously entered the cave, the shadows within conspiring to distort his perception. The cavern s
Chapter 106As Aeron sprinted through the moonlit night, his keen senses heightened by desperation, he tried to catch Oswald's scent in the air. Frowning, he realized that Oswald had masked his presence, making tracking nearly impossible.Aeron chuckled grimly, muttering to himself, "Buffoon." Undeterred, he dropped to his knees, placing a hand on the ground. Silent incantations escaped his lips, and soon, glowing footsteps appeared on the path ahead. Aeron grinned, his determination unwavering as he followed the ethereal trail. The luminous footprints guided him to a secluded cabin. Aeron cautiously pushed open the creaking door and stepped inside. There, on a wooden bed, lay Allistar. Relief and urgency surged through him, but before he could reach for her, Oswald leaped from his hiding spot, launching at Aeron with deadly intent.Reacting swiftly, Aeron dodged the assault, and the two engaged in a fierce battle once more. Aeron's skill with the sword proved superior, but in a cunni
Chapter 105Panic and fear were etched into every line of Aeron's face as he frantically darted through the sprawling corridors of the palace, his breath coming in ragged gasps. His eyes were wild with desperation as he searched, each passing second seeping away with a sense of impending dread. Shadows clung to the walls, and the oppressive weight of the air seemed to press down on him, suffocating him as he raced against the insidious tide of time.It was in this frenzied state that Aeron collided with Pelenore, his father, and the impact sent them both stumbling, only to regain their footing with a sense of urgency. Pelenore regarded his son with a mixture of concern and confusion, his brow furrowed as he asked, "Aeron, what's wrong? Why are you so frantic?"Aeron's voice trembled with raw emotion as he blurted out, "It's Myra. She's in trouble. I heard her call out to me, and I can't find her anywhere. She's somewhere in this palace, and I can't bear the thought of her suffering."
Chapter 104In the aftermath of the great battle that had just taken place, the once serene and picturesque landscape was now a chaotic scene of destruction. The once lush green fields were now scorched and smoking, the trees reduced to charred stumps. The acrid smell of burnt wood and gunpowder lingered heavily in the air, mingled with the metallic stench of blood.Amidst the chaos, Pelenore stood a short distance away, his body trembling with grief. In his arms, he cradled his beloved son, Baron, the light of his life. The young man's face was now pale, marked by deep wounds. Pelenore's tears streamed down his weathered face, his cries of despair mingling with the chaotic sounds of the aftermath. He held his dying son tenderly, whispering comforting words through his anguished sobs, hoping against hope that he could bring some relief to his child."I'm sorry, father," Baron finally croaked, his voice barely a whisper amidst the havoc. The words were a plea for forgiveness, a burde
Chapter 103The night was dark, with only a pale sliver of moon hanging in the sky. Aeron and Pelenore sat side by side on a wooden bench, their bodies tense and their eyes fixed on the field before them. The soldiers had set up their tents and retired for the night, leaving the deserted field covered in the scattered remnants of their tests. The atmosphere was heavy with silence, broken only by the distant chirping of crickets and the occasional rustle of leaves.Neither Aeron nor Pelenore said a word, but the tension between them spoke volumes. Certainly by the morning they would go into battle and although they had prepared, they still felt tensed. Suddenly, the stillness was shattered by the sound of hooves pounding across the field. A horse burst through the darkness, its body shimmering as if born from smoke. A soldier clad in armor dismounted and bowed in obeisance before Aeron and Pelenore. "Your highness! Great wizard!" Aeron looked at the soldier with an intensity that ma
