Mia’s POV
Adrian’s car drove off without me. I wondered whom he was in a hurry to see. Probably Lorelei.
It was the staffs at the auction house who carried me inside, offered me some hot beverages and sent me home eventually.
“Luna Mia, are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?” the staff asked me in the car, worried.
“…No, thank you. I am fine.” I replied weakly in a low voice.
Even a complete stranger cared about my wellbeing. Yet my husband didn’t give a damn.
The car arrived at the entrance of Andrian’s mansion, which was sitting on the top of a hill, looking over the entire city. The security wouldn’t let the car through the iron gate. So I was forced to get off the car and climbed the hill by myself.
The snow continued to fall, developing into a blizzard.
I felt so cold. Yet on the contrary, my body was burning.
Before I passed out on the path, I finally made it to the mansion’s doorstep.
With my last bit of strength, I entered the code to the combination lock.
[WRONG COMBINATION]
I frowned.
With a trembling hand, I entered the code again.
[WRONG COMBINATION]
The speaker turned on automatically. I heard a familiar voice through the speaker, “…Luna Mia?”
It was our housemaid, Mrs. Jones.
“Mrs. Jones! It’s me!” I cried against the raging wind. “Open the door please! This damn lock won’t let me in—”
“…Alpha Adrian asked me change the combination. He said that you are no longer allowed into this house…”
I stood by the entrance, frozen.
“B—But my staff…My clothes!” I said, breathing heavily. “He said I can stay till tomorrow morning. At least let me in for now so that I can pack up…”
“You can find all your belongings to your right.”
I looked around and found a couple of boxes sitting to my left, some clothes and shoes scattered on the ground.
…Adrian asked the servants to throw out all my stuffs.
He couldn’t wait to get rid of me.
I pressed my forehead against the door, my whole body shaking. Tears poured out of my ears and froze on my eyelashes.
“Please…Just let me in for now…” I begged in a broken voice. “It’s so cold outside…Please…”
“I am so sorry, Luna Mia. But it’s the Alpha’s order.”
She hung up.
I slid down against the door and collapsed onto the ground. The fever had messed up my mind. I couldn’t think straight.
The sensible thing to do right now was to walk down the hill again and get a cab going to a hotel or hospital.
Yet I couldn’t pull myself up anymore. The hunger, the thirst, low blood sugar, the fever…I was on the verge of passing out.
I lied down on the top of the stairs, resting on a layer of snow. My eyelids grew heavier and heavier. Eventually I gave in and shut my eyes.
If I died here today, Adrian would be finally be free from his mate bond and he could get back with Lorelei.
As he wished.

I didn’t know how long I slept.
After what felt like an eternity, I heard some noise in the near distance.
A furious voice was snarling, “…She is freezing! Where the fuck is Adrian Sinclair?!”
“Alpha Adrian isn’t here…And you are not authorized to be here! SIR!”
“Get the fuck out of my face! I am taking her away!”
A pair of strong arms picked me up. A warm coat was wrapped around my shoulders.
I finally felt a sense of security. Letting out a small groan, I let myself drifted into the darkness again.
It was a long and dreamless sleep. When I finally opened my eyes again, I found myself lying on a king-sized bed, covered in thick covers.
“Mia! You are awake!” somebody gasped.
I looked to the source of that voice and found a young man by my bedside.
He was a tall, lean man with a gorgeous face and tousled hair. Eyes the color of molten steel, drawing others in with their magnetic intensity.
It was snowing outside yet he still wore a t-shirt, which showed off his muscles. Tattoos peeked from his sleeves.
I thought I was still in my dreams.
“…Jace?” I murmured.
“Yeah,” he held my hands. “How are you feeling?”
“I…I don’t get it…Why are you here?”
Jace was my childhood playmate. He lived next door to me in a scratchy neighborhood.
I always thought that his family was poor as mine. Until one day, he moved away out of the blue and that was when I leant that he was High Gale Pack’s Alpha’s bastard son.
We were kept apart for a long time till a decade later when we met again at a party. By that time, I had already become Adrian’s assistant, and he was a world famous racer, worth more than billions of dollars.
We reconnected and stayed in touch. In fact, Adrian was supposed to take me to a business convention in High Gale Pack next week. And I thought Jace and I could take this chance to catch up.
Never had I expected that Adrian would divorce me before we went on this convention.
I also didn’t expect to see Jace here in Night Howl Pack.
Jace gritted, his eyes full of anger, “I couldn’t wait till next week to see you. So I came to you instead. But do you know what I have found?! Everyone was talking about your divorce! You were lying on Alpha Adrian’s doorstep, almost froze to death!”
I shook my head with tears welling up in my eyes, “Don’t…”
I didn’t want him to remind me of what happened!
Yet Jace wouldn’t give me a chance to ran away from it.
He grabbed my shoulder forcing me to look at him and said in a urgent voice, “You should have left that heartless jerk a long time ago. And don’t worry. I have punished those servants who dared to lock you outside!”
“Jace, they were simply doing their job…And don’t offend Adrian for me. It’s not worth it.”
He snorted, “You think that I am afraid of him? Next time I see him, I will give him a piece of my mind.”
His face became more intent as he continued, “Come to High Gale Pack with me! I won’t allow anyone to treat you like this!”
I took in a shaky breathe and felt a splitting headache.
I really appreciated the things that Jace would do to me…But Night Howl Pack was my home.
“Thank you…But no.” I said in a low voice.
“Mia—”
“At least give me sometime to think about it. OK?” I begged.
Jace seemed frustrated.
After a long pause, he let out a sigh, “…Fine. You are at an apartment that I bought a couple years back. It’s yours now. I got some work to do at the moment. Let’s talk later.”
My heart swelled. I really couldn’t thank him enough, “Jace, I don’t know what to say…”
He grinned, “Don’t say anything. Mia, you don’t know how happy I was when I heard that you finally left that scumbag. I am truly happy for you.”
He rubbed my hair gently and left the room, shutting the bedroom door for me.
I was still exhausted.
But I couldn’t make myself to go to sleep again. After lying on the bed absentminded for 15 minutes, I got off the bed and walked to the living room.
The light automatically switched on as I entered the space.
The living room was sleek and modern, adorned with plush furnishings. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline at night, creating an ambiance of sophistication and urban luxury.
…This apartment was worth of hundreds of millions dollars.
It’s such a luxurious gift. Yet Jace just tossed me the key like he was giving me a tea bag.
He must be insane.
I got myself together and walked into the kitchen, looking for something to eat.
Just then, I heard a thunderous roar of rock music piercing through the walls!
What the hell?
It was almost midnight!
The noise made my headache even worse. Infuriated, I stormed out and rushed down the hall way.
My target was clear. Because there were only two apartments located on this floor.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
I rapped sharply on the door.
A long while later, the door creaked open, revealing a disheveled young man swaying on his feet, his eyes bloodshot.
“Hello?” I gritted, “Do you have any idea how loud you were—”
The young man winded his eyes abruptly, his gaze struggling to focus on my face.
“Fuck…Mia Rivers?”
I held my breathe in panic, “No…wrong person.”
I turned around abruptly. But he grabbed my elbow and dragged me into the apartment by force. I was immediately surrounded by the choking smell of weed and stretch of alcohol.
“LET GO!” I cried.
“Hey guys!” the young man yelled despite my struggles, crying to the crowd of party people. “Look who it is—Our discarded Luna, Mia Rivers!”
Mia’s POVMy mind went blank for a second. When I realized what he was asking of me, I wanted to grab my fork and stab it at his cocky face.“Are you kidding me right now?!” my voice shook violently. “If you think I’ll let you mess with my career like this—”“Lorelei is a well-known model. You should be glad that she is interested in your film. Having her as your female lead will give you huge exposure,” Adrian sneered coldly. “You are a businesswoman. Surely you can think this through.”“Bullshit!” I snapped furiously. “This is you manipulating my life! You are punishing me for quitting my job. You are such an arrogant asshole who can’t stand me making it on my own after our divorce!”“Making it on your own?” he narrowed his eyes dangerously. “Don’t be ridiculous. You don’t even have enough money to get your project up and running. How did you find the nerve to bark at your moneybag?”“There are tons of other investors waiting in line to invest in me! I will not have you and your dea
Mia’s POVFor a quick second I felt like a snooping big sister who read her little brother’s diary and got caught. But then I calmed myself down and asked in a light tone, “I saw your paintings inside. Who is this girl?”He blushed suspiciously and avoided my gaze, “…nobody.”“Come on,” I forced a laugh, “Introduce this special someone to me.”He stood there stiffly for a few seconds before letting out a long sigh, “Fine. But promise me not to freak out if I show you…”He led me into the exhibition room and turned on the light.I took in a sharp inhale the next second. Those portraits, some were unfinished sketches, and some were oil paintings…But they were all…ME.My jaw dropped and I couldn’t even get a word out of my mouth. After an eternity long of silence, I finally turned to Liam rigidly.“What the…Why…” I stuttered. Couldn’t get my minds together. There was an even deeper shade of red on his face. He covered his eyes in embarrassment and groaned, “God I feel like such a big pe
Mia’s POV“What did you just say?” I gasped, “Lorelei’s child may not be Adrian’s?”Liam gave me a casual shrug, “I don’t know if she has a child or not. I’m just saying, if she does, we won’t know who the father is.”“But does Adrian know about this?” I asked urgently.Liam paused. He slightly narrowed his eyes at me and studied my reaction closely, “Why do you care about it so much?”“I…I’m just—curious,” I stammered. His jaw tensed. Then he suddenly moved closer to me and held my shoulders forcing me to look straight into his eyes, “Then stop worrying about him and Lorelei. Adrian chose to be with that woman. Who cares if the child is his or not?”After a long eye connection, I finally caved into his intimidating gaze and sighed, “…Fine.”Liam was right.Adrian seemed happy with Lorelei now.No matter how sad I was about this, I should move on and let him bear with his own choice.I spent the rest of that evening filling out the contract and faxed it to Clayton the next morning.A
Mia’s POVI didn’t remember how I walked out of the lady’s room and came back to the lounge. All I was thinking was one thing:…Adrian and Lorelei had a child?!But I never heard Adrian talking about it ever! And if they had a child, why did Lorelei leave him? And why was she coming back to him now?A million questions whizzed across my mind as I dragged my steps going into the lounge. And then I see them sitting in the booth.Lorelei rested her head on Adrian’s shoulders while holding his hand. They looked so intimate and in love.Lorelei was right about one thing.I could never win this battle against her.Pushing down bitterness at heart, I walked over to them and said, “I’d better head home. Thank you for today…Alpha Adrian.”His eyes slightly darkened hearing that I used his title instead of first name.“I will give you a ride home,” his tone was determined.“No, it’s fine!” I didn’t want Lorelei to think that I was still fighting over him.Yet to my surprise, Lorelei stood up wi
It was a little tradition of us to have a drink after a successful business meeting. I couldn’t remember how many times we clung our glasses together in late nights.“Sure!” I answered without hesitation. We took the elevator to the top floor and grabbed a booth in the lounge. Soothing music was playing in the background, and he was sipping his scotch besides me.Everything was like the old time.Except it wasn’t.Maybe it was because of the wine, or because of my sudden nostalgic feeling, I suddenly blurt out:“You knew that Lorelei set me up, right?”His hand froze in midair. Then he looked over to me, his face unreadable.“What are you talking about?” he asked coldly. He was not happy.I shouldn’t sabotage this precious moment by asking things about Lorelei. But I had started already. There was no way of taking it back. And I deserved an answer.“You said you checked the surveillance footage. You knew that I wasn’t a thief! Lorelei hid all my stuffs on purpose trying to get me into
Mia’s POV“Mia!” Clayton snapped when I pushed open the door, “What took you so—”Words froze on his lips as soon as he saw Adrian behind me.“A—Alpha Adrian!” he jumped out of his seat, a panic look on his face, “Wh—What are you doing here?”Adrian walked directly over and sat down across the table, “This club is my property. What? Am I not welcomed?”“O—Of course no…it is my deepest honor…” Clayton stuttered, wiping sweats on his forehead.“Sit,” Adrian nodded drily at him. Clayton carefully took his seat, half of his butt hanging by the chair. He was like a teenager in the schoolmaster’s office. But I got it why he was so afraid. Adrian was not only the Alpha, but also business tycoon. Guys like Clayton might have a chance to meet him in their entire life.Adrian tapped his index finger on the table. A few waiters came in to collect all the glasses and empty bottles away and cleared the table for us.“Your name?”“…Gill Clayton, Alpha.”“Mr. Clayton,” Adrian’s voice was cold, “I do
