[Adrain's POV]

It was late at night, and I was driving back to the mansion through the half-lit streets. I must admit I was quite surprised when Elena showed up. Things had gotten good, and somehow, I had found a way to let things slide with what she had done last time, and she also confessed to being on good terms with my relationship to her as friends.

Now she was here in Las Vegas. I could remember she claimed to have gotten a job, something that made me happy; at least she had moved on and hoped for happiness.

A smile found its way to my lips as I drove on. I pressed onto my brake not long after in a haste when I noticed someone. I could swear it was Elena's father. There was no way I could misplace him. "What is he doing here?" I questioned in my thoughts. "Did he possibly come here after learning Elena was here?"

I hoped that wasn't true. Even so, I cared not much about that at the moment since I knew he wouldn't dare to even meet with her in the first place. He owed me his life

"How I wish I could stay back and watch you beg for your life, but I have no time for that. I must make sure to deliver the boss his packages," the stranger said, forcing Elena as he led her away from my sight."I can't let him go..." I thought. I had to put a stop to this, but how could I when I was still unable to get myself out of these men's paths? The men's eyes locked onto mine as they remained in their standing positions, as if they were waiting for me to make the first attack. My hand slyly went for my gun, but still, no acts from the men. If this was just a habit of theirs, then I must correct them that it was wrong.Underestimating me should never have been an option for them.I pulled out my gun, sliding as I bent my head over. The men with pistols drew theirs out, and those with daggers drew theirs. But in a blink, without wasting any further time, I took the trigger, aiming at the men. Pulling the trigger as the men fell to their grave immediately, the bullets pierced thr

I felt a sudden rupture. My whole veins felt like they were going to explode at this moment as I woke up, finding myself tied to a chair. Two men were standing next to me, holding some naked wire as they chuckled."Why so soon? We wanted to enjoy this little moment so much," one of them said."Leave, that's enough," a voice came, silencing the two men's chuckles as they dropped the wire and left the room. I witnessed Elena walking in after, with her father by her side."You?" I spat. "I have been waiting for this day when I get to meet you again. This time, I will make sure I end your story. There won't be an escape for you."Even with my threat, just like before, that old man chuckled slightly as he approached my side and, before I knew it, slammed his fist on my face. "It seems you just don't learn not to boast when you are not in the right position to do so. We have met twice now, but see where you always stand."But that was only because he had always played his tricks, even now,

I crawled to a bush I found nearby, laying there as my vision blacked out.I woke up finding myself in a hospital with an IV connected to my hand."How did I end up here?" I could only wonder. As I caught sight of a man discussing with the doctor, "I found him laying in the bushes nearby, unconscious with multiple injuries," the man explained. But what was he doing here? He shouldn't have brought me here. I tried standing up, removing the IV connected to my hand. "Argh," I groaned."Wait, what are you doing?" I heard the doctor say as she rushed to me, trying to force me to lay back down on the bed. "You are not yet recovered, and we can't let you leave also without a police report on this," he said, but are they planning to deny not knowing who I was?"The police are not needed. I can take care of myself," I stated. But still, the doctor was persistent in me laying back down, claiming I had to recover fully first."Do you wish for your death, doctor?" were the only words that escaped

I sat back down, removing one of the dead men's phones as I dialed up one of my men's numbers, hoping to tell him to come pick me up."Boss, where have you been, boss? I've been trying to reach you since..." he said."Come to The Golden Lounge club, come pick me up," I said to him."Alright, boss. But boss, did you contact Anthony to find someone for you?" I heard the man say, as I wondered how he knew I had contacted Anthony."Who told you that?" I questioned."Anthony called me up, boss, saying he couldn't reach your line. He mentioned already finding the place the girl was buried at. It's here in Las Vegas, at the Eternal Gardens Cemetery," I heard my men say."So her body was here in Las Vegas," I thought."Stop by at Boulder Bridge when coming and bring another new line," I said, hanging up the call.I stood up, smashing the man's phone against the wall as I made my way outside the club. A loud thunder echoed as it rained, with the water splashing on me. Yet I made my way to the

[Sierra's POV] I made my way outside the company, entering the car's back seat in a hurry. To think it would rain heavily today."Let's go," I said as the driver drove off, maintaining a slow speed because of the rain's intensity on the car's front window.Colt was in the other car, trailing me as usual. I brought out my phone, hoping to buy some time by scrolling through some stuff, when I found myself recalling this morning's incident with me receiving a call in the office. It was from the same agency, the one I found Elena working for. They had sent an apology letter, resigning from the work. While I was still thinking about whether to give them a chance in the first place, yet I could only wonder what suddenly brought the change. But I was sure it couldn't be anyone else other than her. Possibly she changed her mind, I guess it was better this way. I doubt I would have been able to handle her sight, even though I aimed for revenge on her."We are already here, mam," the driver sa

[Adrian's POV]I woke up feeling a slight headache as last night's incident came back to me, knowing I had even murdered those men at the club.I tried standing up from the bed as I caught sight of Sierra sleeping next to my side.I had recalled her and me in the room last night but found it hard to remember what had happened after that. I made my way to the bathroom after, washing up and brushing my teeth. I had some important work to attend to today.Stepping out of the bathroom, I found Sierra already awake. "How are you feeling, Adrian?" she asked, making me wonder why she was asking me that.Could it be that I maybe said something last night? But damn, why can't I just remember?I left no reply to her as I grabbed my clothing, dressing up. I left the room after taking the stairs down. I made my way outside the mansion, entering my car, heaving a sigh. I started the car engine as I drove off, leaving the mansion.Arriving at my company, I made my way inside, greeted by my employe

"Is this the place?" I asked my man, and he replied with a nod. "Yes, boss.""Let's go in then," I said, only to feel a grasp on my hand. "I don't think that's a good idea, boss. You might wanna come to check it out tomorrow. From what I could tell, this building seems old and could possibly collapse anytime," my man said, but of all the times to check the place, this was the right time for me. I had to find out today what my dad's former business partner saw in this place for him to have approached his own dead former business partner's son."Since I am already here, there is no going back. I will go in to see what lies inside that building," I said, making my way in with the rest of the men that followed me to the place."Four of you should follow me, while the rest should search the other places," I said to them all, and they gave a nod, splitting up into groups. The four men I had ordered to follow me did as said as we made our way up one of the stairs, making sure I checked each

"What's going on here? Who was that man, and why did they kill this one?" the other men questioned, muttering, but I also had little idea of what was going on. "Take care of this body; we have to leave here now," I said to the men as they left a silent atmosphere before eventually replying, "Alright." I shouldn't even be hearing any complaints from their side since I was paying them enough money for all this. The only truth that they had to deny was that they were all wimps pretending to be strong enough and worthy of their title. I searched through the place for my man that I had sent to spy, the same one that had called me. Now I could surely tell this was meant to be a setup for me, one that they planned to use and ambush me from a side. I eventually found him trying to make a run for it. I aimed my pistol up. "Move an inch and meet your death," I threatened as his steps came to a sudden pause immediately, his gaze turning back to meet mine. "Boss, I'm sorry, boss. I had

[Sierra's POV]After some days staying in the hospital, I was discharged. I made my way out of the hospital supported by some men hired for my security, as I entered the back seat of the car with the driver starting the car engine. My gaze glanced through the dark street; it was late at night. It felt as though everything was complete—Uncle was in jail, and Nate was dead. Yet, why did I feel like I had nothing else to look up to?The people I most cherished were gone. The only one I saw next to me was Aunt Malisa. "I have to keep going for her sake..." I thought. The driver arrived at the mansion, and I stepped out, managing some footings. I made my way into the mansion but paused, noting the dark presence the mansion left."What happened to the lights..." I wondered. I wasn't able to tell anything—my heart raced as I took little steps. Was I maybe wrong to think everything was over?In a blink, the light came, causing me to shut my eyes suddenly from the reaction. "Welcome back, mam.

[Adrian's POV]"Uncle Gavin! I did it, Uncle Gavin!" Why was I seeing this memory now? I guess it's because of what occurred so far. The same man I saw as a father figure, the one I trusted so much, turned out to be the enemy. He trained me to be who I am today, but in the end... "Why, Uncle Gavin? Just why did you have to be the enemy?"I woke up, feeling the intense pain in my head. I tried sitting up, only to find Dominic sitting next to my side."You're awake, Adrian..." he said. Yet, I found only my gaze downcast."What happened? So it's over..." I questioned as Dominic replied, "Yes.""He died?" Should I be happy, knowing he was gone, or sad? A side of me claimed this was a victory, knowing all he had done, the fact that he was behind Mom's death from the very start. But why does my heart say something different? Those little tears that never ceased from falling down splattered on my hand."I know this is all hard to take in, Adrian. I also can't seem to understand everything th

All this while, I had thought it was Dominic. I wanted to make him pay so much, but, in the end, I teamed up with my mother's true murderer."Okay, that's enough now, Nate. Let her take it all in slowly. What more of a death would be greater than having them regret the whole life they have lived?" Damien said."Mom... I'm sorry, mom..." I whispered, those tears not ceasing. I felt something on my head. It was Nate aiming a pistol at my head. "Now, why don't I do you a favor and take you to that old hag?" he said, and my eyes shut in those moments as I heard a loud gunshot, causing my eyes to open back up."Do you think you can take down the De Santos that easily?" I heard Dominic, with a smirk playing on his lips. "I knew you would make a move, so I had a tracker inserted in my skin, and now you took the bait, dear Uncle Gavin," he said as more guns echoed through the area. They were coming from outside the room."We have to kill them fast, Father. We need to leave now," Damien said.

[Sierra's POV]"Sierra, wake up, Sierra!" I heard a voice as my eyes sprung open. I found myself tied to a chair, as Adrian and Dominic were also tied to chairs beside me."What are you doing here, Sierra?" Adrian asked, but shouldn't I be asking the same question? I had heard that he and Dominic went to attend the burial of one of the De Santos, but now I found the two of them here."That bastard; he must have spiked the wine," Dominic's voice cut in. He was also awake. But wait, does this mean they were both kidnapped and brought here from the burial? Who honestly was this enemy?I noticed another man tied to a chair, but his face was blindfolded with a sack mask, so I wasn't able to tell who he was.Just as I hoped to let a word out to Adrian, the door creaked, and I watched some men make their way inside."Who the hell do you think you all are to have Adrian De Santos here?" Adrian questioned, but was he expecting his name to help out here? I mean, these were people who had been h

[Adrian's POV]It had already been four months, and yet I found myself still unable to figure out who this enemy was. My mind still echoed the words I heard from Raglan after I paid him a visit. He mentioned that there was a third man; he was the one who seemed like the boss. But none of them had ever seen his face anywhere. After hearing that, I tried looking for any information, something that could tell me more about this third man, even visiting the experiment building again, yet I found nothing. The only thought I found myself guessing was that this third man was possibly the enemy, or he was working with the enemy, and the experiment seemed to be carried on.I had hired more men to help me figure out and fix this puzzle, conducting research and gathering information they could find."We have to go now, Adrian..." I made my way to the bathroom and washed up.It had been four months already, and the bloodshed never seemed to have ceased. Many of the De Santos members were already gone, each dying in a cruel way.I wore my cloth, intending to step outside my room, only to find Aunt Marisa waiting."You should rest; you're not yet feeling well, Sierra." she said.I had a high fever last night, so it was expected of her to be this worried. After we met back at the party, I allowed her to live with us in the mansion."I have some things to attend to, Aunt Marisa. I will rest once I am back..." I heard Colt's voice, followed by a knock on the door. "Come in," I replied. Colt made an entry as he approached my side."Mam, I don't think it's safe for you to step out again. I'm sure you saw what had happened and how you were almost killed that day..." Colt said, but I understood he was making sure I was safe at all costs, but hiding, I doubt, would be of any good."I can't stay in hiding, Colt. That's what this enemy would want..." I explained."But Mam..." he wanted to say."I have a plan, Colt. I want to learn how to protect myself better..." I cut in, standing up from the bed. I sat down in my office, checking my phone as I read what was portrayed by the news regarding Laxton's death, and it seemed like another twisted story turned to see us as the main issue at hand."I must say, nice game, whoever you are..." I said, taking a glass of wine as I heaved a sigh.I received a call from one of the men I had hired to investigate this case regarding the experiment. It took a lot, deciding to hire one, knowing I couldn't trust any of them, but instead, I only requested him to obtain some information regarding the experiment. Could there have been a successful experiment that brought the outcome father wanted so much?I picked up the call, placing it against my ear."Speak," I said."Boss, I have just finished doing my research on all that you told me about..." he started."So, what's the update?""Among the prisoners, there seemed to be one man; he was the only one I could tell who managed to flee from the building.
