My men came surrounding the whole area, their guns pointed and aimed at each of the men.

The same man that had threatened to kill me was lying on the ground, trembling.

"Wh-who are you guys?" he stammered, as he stood up, immediately turning and running, but in that moment, another loud sound took over, and the man dropped dead, covered in his own blood.

I turned to watch one of my men who pulled the trigger. "I didn't give an order to kill..." I said to him.

"I'm sorry, mam. It's just how dare him lay his hand on you mam...." he was saying.

"It's fine..." I cut in.

But yet, seeing the man lying there dead, I felt he deserved it. Knowing he had just harmed this innocent little girl, he had to pay, even though death might have been too severe for such a crime.

The cops arrived at the scene, not long after. Just as expected.

"It's her... she shot him! Please stop her. She tried to kill us all, her and those men..." the men, the same ones who were just engaging in their brutal actions, f

[Dominic's POV]Arriving back at the mansion, I stepped out of the car, making my way into the building.Entering, my glance scanned the area, looking for Adrain."Adrain!" I yelled out his name, taking the stairs up, and then I caught sight of him approaching my side."And what is the issue this time around, dear brother?" he uttered, pretending as if he knew nothing. This act of his only brought more rage."Tell me it's a lie. Tell me all that the man had said was a lie..." I questioned, but instead, he chuckled slightly."Which is? I care less about what you are on about. Unlike you, I have some business to attend to now, dear brother. Please leave my path..." he dismissed. His actions and words brought more assurance to what the man had said. I'm sure he must be acting out of pretense. He doesn't know I had figured it out and already had the man he hired pay by killing him."I have taken care of the man you sent, but this I can't take anymore. How many days have I tried covering u

"What's going on, Dominic? Who are they?" Uncle Marc questioned.Nate had already arrived with Angelica and the kids."She is under some attacks, Uncle Marc. And I decided to bring her here for her protection, and I also wanted to ensure these kids' safety..." I explained, hoping Uncle Marc would buy my words.Adrain and Uncle Gavin were also present as my gaze went glarng at Adrain, trying to check his expression and Angelica's as well. But it was all too normal. "Or could it be that she didn't see the face of the person who had hired her? Maybe an anonymous boss..." I wondered, trying to put things together."Even so, she is a stranger, Dominic. You know how many enemies we have out there. What assures you that she is not one of them?" Uncle Marc questioned.I was sure he would want a good reason behind my actions. He cared less about any sort of protection, but one thing I knew he hated was the maltreatment of women. That was my ticket to having this done the way I wanted."I have

  • The Crimson Trail of Death   The Return of Adrain

[Sierra's POV](SEVEN MONTHS LATER)I could hardly feel my hips as I made my way into the mansion. Thinking of how things had gone in these past months, I had seen through the fulfillment of all the missions assigned to me by that old man. And today, I had taken ownership of the last company on the list Marc had given me. During the mission, I had paid most of my attention to my dad's company, and now it had risen to some great heights. Seeing that, I was happy, but still, I shouldn't forget that this was only the beginning, and my aim was to ensure it reaches even greater heights."Mam... you are back..." one of the maids said, approaching my side."Yeah. Have dinner prepared." I said. I was pretty much starving at that moment, but I watched the maid's presence still fixed in the same spot for a few seconds before she replied, "Alright, mam." leaving my side. "What happened to her..." I wondered but was too stressed to even bother asking.I took the stairs up, walking through the ha

I sat down on the dining chair as the food was being served. I watched Adrain dig in, eating without wasting any time.Seemed he was surely starving, as he had mentioned.I wanted to ask him, maybe to look for a way to confirm my doubts if he was thinking of maybe facing Marc. The two weren't in a good relationship from the start, but I couldn't just bring out the words directly, hoping for a response."And what is in your mind now, dear wife?" Adrain questioned, snapping me from my thoughts, as I watched those forced smiles play on his lips. He seemed to be quite good at acting out this fake caring husband thing that I had expected."Nothing..." I replied simply, having a bite of the food placed in front of me. The taste was quite delightful, as usual.I dug in for more, and once done eating, I drank some water as I stood up from the dining chair, deciding to make my way back into my room. Even if I had doubts about Adrain's presence, I couldn't deny the fact that I had some work to

"Who is that, mam?" Colt questioned, his gaze fixed on Adrain, who was seated on the dining chair. I had never informed him of the fact that I had a husband, even though it's temporary. But since he never asked, I saw no need in mentioning it. I never expected Adrain would come in the first place.Adrain stood up from the chair as he approached my side."You must be Colt, am I right? The same ex-mercenary I've heard about?" Adrain inquired, making me wonder how he knew about Colt."Yes." Colt replied simply, his gaze returning to me. I could tell he was waiting for a sign. Being the head of my security and witnessing the various attacks I had gone through, he was someone who stayed vigilant, so seeing Adrain, someone he had never met with me before, brought out his instincts. He thought I was in some kind of danger that I couldn't tell him about."He's my husband, Colt. Adrain De Santos..." I said, as Colt exclaimed softly. I could tell he never expected my response."It's really nice

Colt called up my attention. I knew he must be curious about my actions and why I distanced myself before I received the call, but I didn't want any ears overhearing my words."Let's go now, Colt. Seems the other men won't be coming anytime soon..." I said, as he left a nod. I made my way outside the cafe, entering my car's back seat. This time, Colt decided to sit in the same car with me, but he sat at the front seat. The driver started the engine, and throughout the drive, Colt was on the walkie-talkie, giving orders to the other men guarding me as we drove further. The car leading the way came to a sudden pause."What happened? Why are we stopping?" Colt questioned, asking the front car driver through the walkie-talkie."There is a truck blocking the road. It seems it's under maintenance..." the driver replied.

"Chirp chirp." I heard a sound that caused my eyes to spring open.I noticed some birds standing beside me chirping, but they flew away the instant I tried to stand up."Where am I?" I wondered, trying to recall what had happened last. My last memory was when the dagger sunk deep into my stomach. But wait, does this mean I was alive?I checked around the room, and judging from the interior, I could only guess it was a hut.I tried standing up from the mat I found myself lying on, trying not to apply too much pressure since I could tell the wound wasn't fully healed. Finally standing up, I made my way outside the hut only to find myself surrounded by tall trees with birds flying around the area, chirping. I could also hear the sound of a flowing river and some antelopes running around."Wait, don't tell me..." I muttered. It couldn't be right? How did I end up in the forest?"Finally, you decide to wake up from your slumber." A voice drew my attention as I caught sight of Adrain, with

[Sierra's POV]After some days staying in the hospital, I was discharged. I made my way out of the hospital supported by some men hired for my security, as I entered the back seat of the car with the driver starting the car engine. My gaze glanced through the dark street; it was late at night. It felt as though everything was complete—Uncle was in jail, and Nate was dead. Yet, why did I feel like I had nothing else to look up to?The people I most cherished were gone. The only one I saw next to me was Aunt Malisa. "I have to keep going for her sake..." I thought. The driver arrived at the mansion, and I stepped out, managing some footings. I made my way into the mansion but paused, noting the dark presence the mansion left."What happened to the lights..." I wondered. I wasn't able to tell anything—my heart raced as I took little steps. Was I maybe wrong to think everything was over?In a blink, the light came, causing me to shut my eyes suddenly from the reaction. "Welcome back, mam.

[Adrian's POV]"Uncle Gavin! I did it, Uncle Gavin!" Why was I seeing this memory now? I guess it's because of what occurred so far. The same man I saw as a father figure, the one I trusted so much, turned out to be the enemy. He trained me to be who I am today, but in the end... "Why, Uncle Gavin? Just why did you have to be the enemy?"I woke up, feeling the intense pain in my head. I tried sitting up, only to find Dominic sitting next to my side."You're awake, Adrian..." he said. Yet, I found only my gaze downcast."What happened? So it's over..." I questioned as Dominic replied, "Yes.""He died?" Should I be happy, knowing he was gone, or sad? A side of me claimed this was a victory, knowing all he had done, the fact that he was behind Mom's death from the very start. But why does my heart say something different? Those little tears that never ceased from falling down splattered on my hand."I know this is all hard to take in, Adrian. I also can't seem to understand everything th

All this while, I had thought it was Dominic. I wanted to make him pay so much, but, in the end, I teamed up with my mother's true murderer."Okay, that's enough now, Nate. Let her take it all in slowly. What more of a death would be greater than having them regret the whole life they have lived?" Damien said."Mom... I'm sorry, mom..." I whispered, those tears not ceasing. I felt something on my head. It was Nate aiming a pistol at my head. "Now, why don't I do you a favor and take you to that old hag?" he said, and my eyes shut in those moments as I heard a loud gunshot, causing my eyes to open back up."Do you think you can take down the De Santos that easily?" I heard Dominic, with a smirk playing on his lips. "I knew you would make a move, so I had a tracker inserted in my skin, and now you took the bait, dear Uncle Gavin," he said as more guns echoed through the area. They were coming from outside the room."We have to kill them fast, Father. We need to leave now," Damien said.

I found myself tied to a chair, as Adrian and Dominic were also tied to chairs beside me."What are you doing here, Sierra?" Adrian asked, but shouldn't I be asking the same question? I had heard that he and Dominic went to attend the burial of one of the De Santos, but now I found the two of them here."That bastard; he must have spiked the wine," Dominic's voice cut in. He was also awake. But wait, does this mean they were both kidnapped and brought here from the burial? Who honestly was this enemy?I noticed another man tied to a chair, but his face was blindfolded with a sack mask, so I wasn't able to tell who he was.Just as I hoped to let a word out to Adrian, the door creaked, and I watched some men make their way inside."Who the hell do you think you all are to have Adrian De Santos here?" [Adrian's POV]It had already been four months, and yet I found myself still unable to figure out who this enemy was. My mind still echoed the words I heard from Raglan after I paid him a visit. He mentioned that there was a third man; he was the one who seemed like the boss. But none of them had ever seen his face anywhere. After hearing that, I tried looking for any information, something that could tell me more about this third man, even visiting the experiment building again, yet I found nothing. The only thought I found myself guessing was that this third man was possibly the enemy, or he was working with the enemy, and the experiment seemed to be carried on.I had hired more men to help me figure out and fix this puzzle, conducting research and gathering information they could find."We have to go now, Adrian..." Many of the De Santos members were already gone, each dying in a cruel way.I wore my cloth, intending to step outside my room, only to find Aunt Marisa waiting."You should rest; you're not yet feeling well, Sierra." she said.I had a high fever last night, so it was expected of her to be this worried. After we met back at the party, I allowed her to live with us in the mansion."I have some things to attend to, Aunt Marisa. I will rest once I am back..."
