Her Savior

Samuel’s question dragged Aunt Mary down ugly memory lane.

She had been in her cell when a younger girl had been shoved into the cell of the two most dangerous female prison bullies as their cellmate. Aunt Mary had been devastated as well as upset. Barely days ago, a girl just as young had also been put in their cell as their cellmate, and when they had begun bullying her, Aunt Mary had turned a blind eye.

She had been feeling really sick, and as a result, her doctor had warned her to stay away from anything that would trigger her illness, and so that was what Aunt Mary had been focused on, but she had seen firsthand how they had bullied the young girl whose name Aunt Mary never knew.

At night, the girl would cry and cry, and Aunt Mary would try to block out her cry of anguish and pain, but no one came to her rescue. The other inmates simply minded their business or concerned themselves with something else, and the correctional officers were unaware of this because they had warned her
