1 million dollars?!

Everyone turned to the person who made such a ridiculous bid. Of course, it was none other than Darius Reid!

Darius took another sip of the wine from the glass cup in his hand, but his gaze was fixed on the wine on display, ignoring the stares he got from other people.

However unlike the first time when he bid $100,000 for the painting the others didn’t back down this time. This time around the bigshots were involved in the bidding war.

“$1.1 million!” Someone shouted a few seconds after Darius raised the bid.

“$1.15 million!” Another person counter bid.

“$1.2 million!”

“$1.3 million!”

“$1.5 million!”

There was a brief pause immediately they heard the bid. 1.5 million dollars? Wasn’t that a bit too much?

Everyone turned to face the person who made the bid. This time around it was David Lesley who placed such a high bid.

David felt proud when he saw many people looking at him. $1.5 million dollars wasn’t a little sum, but he could afford to spend that muc

Darius woke up later than usual the next day. It was expected as the charity gala had ended later than he expected. However Darius wasn’t bothered. He was the person who donated the most at the charity gala as he spent a whooping sum of $4.1 million; therefore he was granted a one week leave by the University. Darius decided to visit some of the companies listed under the Reid Consortium after much delay. He spent the days before the charity gala reading through the documents his grandfather sent him regarding the Reid consortium. He hadn’t gone because he had to take care of pressing needs and didn’t have enough time, but now that he was given a week off by the university, he finally had enough time for himself. Darius had a quick shower and an exquisite breakfast. Since he was going to visit a company today he decided to dress officially. He wore a suit pants and shirt with equally high quality leather shoes before making his way to his private elevator. When he got to his garage

The male ceased his actions and turned to face the intruder who interrupted him with a frown on his face. “What are you doing right now? Don’t you have work to do? Or are you tired of working here?” The man asked the intruder angrily. Darius, the intruder scowled when he heard the man’s question. The man had mistaken him for a worker here and was using his authority to chase him away. It meant that the man was up to no good. Darius ignored the man’s questions and walked towards the lady in question. The lady had a look of relief on her face when someone appeared in the secluded area. “Hello. What is the problem?” Darius asked the lady in a gentle voice. The lady moved farther away from the man and moved closer to Darius subconsciously. Darius was as charming as ever, with his voice very soothing. His masculine features provided the lady with a sense of security hence the reason why she moved closer to Darius. “This man is the problem!” The lady answered, pointing her fingers at

Darius spent the whole day visiting various companies listed under the Reid consortium, from various top companies to various luxury hotels and resorts, including restaurants. By the time the day was over, Darius was very exhausted. He checked the lists of companies he had visited and nearly collapsed from shock. He hadn’t even visited 10% of the total companies he was supposed to visit. At this rate he would die from fatigue before he even finished visiting the companies. Perhaps this was the reason his grandfather was always on his tail and reminding him to get a personal assistant. He certainly could not do this on his own. Darius got home exhausted and stumbled into his bathroom. After taking a long shower and having his dinner, he plopped onto his bed and fell asleep. The next morning Darius woke up refreshed and energetic. He took his phone from the bedside table and checked his schedule. He only had one place to visit today before he worked on the weekly report of the compan

When Alice saw the owner of the car, she was momentarily stunned. Darius however paid her no heed and continued driving. Alice couldn’t believe her eyes. Even though he had changed his hairstyle and appearance and looked completely different from before, she could never forget him. Mr.ordinary10, the person who spent 5 million dollars to gift her and owned such an expensive car was none other than Darius Reid, the ex-boyfriend of her close friend Sarah Ginn! “Judging from the way you are gaping at me it seems that you remember me.” Darius said, not taking his eyes off the road as he spoke. “Of course I do! How could I forget you?!” Alice exclaimed. Alice remembered vividly how Darius had chased Sarah with all of his strength. It was his relentless efforts that struck a deep impression on her. She knew that Darius loved Sarah with all his heart during that period, which was why she was very shocked that Sarah would leave Darius for David. Whenever she looked at Darius when he was c

Both Alice and Darius looked up at the person who walked up to their table. Darius had a calm expression when he saw the person, but the same couldn’t be said for Alice. Her eyes were as wide as saucers. The person who walked up to their table was Michael Finn, the sole heir of the Finn conglomerate! Michael Finn was Alice’s classmate in high school two years ago. Back in their high school, Michael Finn was a very popular figure. He always had tons of people looking up to him and following him about. He was handsome, intelligent and rich, so it was no wonder that many people wanted to be his friend. Alice on the other hand was not so rich. She never even believed herself to be in his level so she didn’t pay attention to him. However, rumors started flying that Michael was interested in Alice. Alice thought it to be a lie as she didn’t have anything to offer him, but when she heard that he rejected the advances of several of her schoolmates, she started having wild thoughts. Few w

Alice flinched when she heard Darius’ question. She turned back slowly while holding her breath. Darius sat still on his chair still maintaining his calm expression. However his demeanor was completely different from before. It was as if he changed from a friendly dog to a Lion as he calmly sat on his chair watching her. Alice gulped slowly before speaking up. “Don’t worry Darius. I know Michael. We are just going to have a talk and catch up with the past. You don’t need to bother about it.” Alice explained. “You still haven’t answered my question Alice.” Darius replied calmly. Alice sighed. She knew that Darius wasn’t the person he was anymore, as he was incredibly wealthy, but they were dealing with Michael Finn here, the sole heir of the Finn conglomerate! When she was in a relationship with Michael back in high school, no one had agreed to help her when she mentioned the situation she was in to them. That only showed her how powerful the Finn conglomerate was. Although Dariu

The next few days were incredibly tough for Darius as there were only two days before the one week leave granted to him ran out. He had spent the majority of his time in the study room going over several documents regarding the Reid consortium. However despite his efforts, he had yet to even finish 10% of the work he was supposed to do regarding the Reid consortium. After signing one more document, he leaned back into his chair and sighed. There were still several documents arranged neatly on the table waiting for him to go through them. He finally understood what his grandfather meant. There was no way he could handle this work alone. He had fully focused on working during the past few days, yet he had covered so little. He dared not imagine what the case would be when he resumed school. At this rate he would not even be able to get 1% of the work done. Darius sighed once more. He looked at the antique clock in his study room and saw that it was already time for lunch. He had work

They all stood up and bowed lightly as Darius walked in. It showed that they were not ignorant about the powerful background Darius had.Only when Darius had sat down at the head of the conference table did the other people in the room sit.The senior secretary to one of the upper echelon's higher-ranking members passed several documents to Darius before passing them around to the others present. When everyone had received the documents, the secretary stood beside her superior. It was time for the meeting. The meeting commenced with the unveiling of the new products invented by the various researchers in the Innovative research department. Darius maintained a stoic face as he scanned the documents given to him, but he was shocked at what he saw. The Nix Inc. really proved why they were worthy of being the number 1 tech company in the country. The documents contained the list of the products and the details about them, along with starting price for their launch. The upper echelons sta

"If you hadn't picked on me, I wouldn't have ended up like this. No matter how wealthy I've become, I'll never be able to take these black robes off!" The mysterious man's voice was shaky. He was extremely agitated.James frowned at that. He said curiously, "You keep saying I've done you wrong, but everything I did to you was what you did to others. I only gave you a taste of your own medicine."The mysterious man's breathing sped up when he heard that. He barked out a laugh and sneered, "I'll be honest with you. I never thought I'd have the chance to meet someone as dumb as you again."He shook his head. "I find it hard to imagine what your grandson will do when he sees you like this." As soon as the words were out of his mouth, the door was kicked open with a loud bang. The man was caught off guard. He looked at Darius as his body trembled violently.Darius frowned when he saw this. It was completely different from what he'd imagined. He narrowed his eyes at the mysterious man, his

Gabriel smiled and nodded. "Alright, then. I'll return to my workstation and prepare a proposal on what to do with Noah."Darius nodded and smiled. "Good. That's all I ever wanted." He turned to leave. "You need to get to work, and I need to return to my hotel to get some rest."Gabriel stopped. Darius' words made him hesitate. "I'm sorry to be asking this because I don't think it's my place, but it's probably better for me to ask anyway. I don't remember there being any hotels nearby."You should head home if you wanna get some rest. I don't understand why you're heading to a hotel to rest."Darius raised an eyebrow, looking surprised. He turned with his hands behind his back to look at Gabriel helplessly. "I don't know how to feel about what you've just said. You're making me think you're a little silly. Wouldn't I know how to search for a hotel?"It won't take you long to prepare a proposal, but it'll take me ages to get home from here." Darius turned and left.Gabriel's lips twitc

"Because you realized the risk was far greater than what you were comfortable with," Darius said calmly. But Noah started trembling. He looked at Darius in terror. He didn't expect Darius to see right through him after some simple back-and-forth. His eyes widened in fear.Everything that was happening now made him feel like he was dreaming. Noah had only been a step away from success, yet Darius had ruined everything.Tears filled his eyes as he gazed at Darius. "I've said everything there is to say. I'm the lowest rung on this ladder, and I only have one purpose for being here. It's to make you come under the authorities' control. Once you're here, my mission's accomplished."Someone else from the authorities will be here to deal with you, but that has nothing to do with me. They wouldn't have told me about it, anyway."Darius put his hands behind his back without saying anything. He turned to leave. Noah's eyes widened as he stared in fear at Darius' back.Darius didn't see this, bu

When Darius straightened up, his face became devoid of emotion. He said calmly, "I've wasted too much time on you. Now, I only want frank answers. Otherwise, I'll punish you for every lie that you tell me. I don't see any hope in your eyes, but let's see whether you prove me wrong."Darius paused, then continued, "I've already said something similar once. That was a chance I gave you. From this moment onward, I want you to know that I won't repeat myself because I believe you've had enough time to prepare yourself."Gabriel stood beside him and put his hands behind his back as his lips twitched. He'd thought about the various reasons for Darius repeating himself. But the one thing that hadn't occurred to him was that Darius had done it to give Noah time to prepare.Gabriel felt like applauding Darius, but the rational side of him stopped him from doing so. His rationality told him he'd be in for trouble if he were to do that, so he only looked at Darius with a smile.Darius sensed Ga

Darius raised an eyebrow and smiled. Then, he said, "You're too nervous, Gabriel. It makes it seem like you don't trust me. In truth, there's nothing for you to worry about."He stretched his neck and continued, "I know very well how bad the consequences of destroying this building will be. Aside from those silly regulations, I'll also need to pay for it. I might be wealthy, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy forking out a huge sum of money as compensation."Darius spread his hands and shrugged. At the same time, he pointed at the window and turned to look at Gabriel. Then, he said, "Look. The windows are perfectly fine. They're not even scratched. That shows my life force is non-destructive."That's why you have nothing to worry about. You can put your heart back into your chest."Gabriel straightened up and sighed in relief. Then, he gave Darius an embarrassed smile.Darius grinned but didn't say anything in response. He put his hands behind his back and turned to look at Noah. He sai

"We're classmates from the same major, too! We were interns at Dream Investment Group, remember? And we got kicked out on our first day. You broke my legs because of a tiny argument we had outside the building! The surveillance cameras captured all of this!" Noah cried.Darius tucked his hands into his pockets and rolled his eyes. Then, he said mockingly, "You're the biggest fool I've ever met. Do you think you're the only one who can tamper with the surveillance footage? Any footage that can be tampered with can also be restored."Noah's eyes widened in shock. He gulped and tried to think of a way to explain away the injuries Darius had inflicted on him. Still, he couldn't think of anything. Before he had the chance to think any further, Darius spoke. He said, "There's one thing you got right, though. Gabriel is on my side, so he'll stand up for me no matter what you say."Gabriel's lips twitched at that. He subconsciously opened his mouth to say something in return, but Darius bea

"And I don't think it's my job to make you see sense," Gabriel continued. He put his hands behind his back. He gave Noah a look that was an odd mixture of gentle iciness. "I've given you more than enough time and chances."Gabriel sighed. "It's obvious that you don't care for that, though. And so I think it's time for me to treat you as an officer should." He sat down on the other side of the desk again.Noah's face was white with fear. Gabriel acted like he didn't see this, though. He smiled. "As I mentioned, I gave you plenty of time and chances, but you didn't appreciate them."His gaze turned frosty. "If that's the case, I'm sure you won't object to me doing this per our guidelines."Noah cried, "No, wait! I don't know what Darius has promised you to make you side with him unconditionally, but there's no way I'll let you two get away with this. You have to make sure you do everything by the book. It's a reasonable request, and you have no right to turn me down!"He trembled viole

Gabriel put his hands behind his back as he looked at Noah with a smile. "Now, you've piqued my interest."Noah looked up at Gabriel. His voice was deep and hoarse as he said, "If you help me, I'll give you half of the Reid Consortium's assets once I get my hands on them. You should know that without me, there's no way you'll get a dime from the Reid Consortium."Gabriel snorted with laughter when he heard that. He straightened up and slowly circled Noah. He sounded mocking as he said, "You've lost me there. I tried to puzzle it out, but it doesn't make sense at all."Why would I want to get my hands on the Reid Consortium's fortune? Even without it, I'm perfectly independent. I don't need it to survive."Gabriel crossed his arms and looked at Noah mockingly. "Or maybe you're different from the rest of us. Maybe you'll die without the Reid Consortium's wealth." He smirked and gave Noah a sharp gaze.Noah raised an eyebrow and smirked. "You're the one making me laugh now. I don't know

Gabriel sounded gentle, but everyone knew that was far from the truth. This was especially true for Noah, who sat across from him. He felt incredibly nervous. He shut his eyes and breathed rapidly.Noah never would've expected to still be in danger after being taken in by the authorities. He frowned and looked up at Gabriel. "So, are you determined to help Darius now?" His voice was shaky, and his eyes were wide because of his nerves. His emotions were clear as he looked at Gabriel. Gabriel bit his lip, feeling like he was about to laugh. To stop Noah from noticing, he quickly exhaled and sat down with one leg over the other. At the same time, he leaned forward to place his hands on the desk.He tapped his fingers on the desk quickly but rhythmically. Gabriel's eyes were devoid of emotion as he looked at Noah. "Tell me, Noah. What happened between you and Darius? Earlier, you said he was the one who injured you. Do you have any proof?"Because we checked the surveillance footage, a
