Kyan's POV:

For two days she hasn’t left her bed, she’s barely eaten and she’s practically inconsolable. We’ve barely left her alone, trying to encourage her to eat something or talk. I’ve tried to sit with her in between duties and when I’ve not been around, father and Kiko have looked in on her, even Faye and Melanie have tried to comfort her.

On top of that, we are all even more on edge now. We knew it would take a lot for father to convince the mayor the attack was nothing to do with us and then, somehow, even if he believed father, the town would have to believe it too. It was only a matter of time until the hunters closed in on us and the rogue vampires wiped out the rest of the town. It felt as though all of a sudden our entire island was being targeted even though we had lived in peace for years. To say my father was stressed in an understatement, he was now checking every window, every entrance into the castle and had been participating in duties himself.
