Kyan's POV:

As I let go of her hand, I felt myself panic the moment she turned away and walked back into her town. We all waited, not a word muttered as we watched everyone trying to clean away their world that had just been destroyed. We could already hear the faint cries from some of her people while others tried to take care of them. I could smell the blood being washed away and with every step she took, my heart thumped, preparing myself to dash in and grab her in an instant if there was still danger lurking in their midst.

I saw her approach a broad, rotund man. They spoke only for a brief moment when he was suddenly taking her away. I felt myself breathing heavily, hoping he was taking her to her parents where they were safe and she’d be able to hold them after all this time she'd spent away from them.
