Anita Baker, a 24-year-old lady, just graduated from university. She's the first daughter of her parents and has five younger sisters. Her father is a banker, while her mother is a trader.
Anita has a fair complexion and is beautifully shaped, with sexy curvy hips, standing at 6 feet tall. Among all her sisters, she is the only one with a white complexion; the rest have darker skin tones, with some having a fair brown complexion.
Anita resembles her mother, though she is considered more beautiful. Occasionally, her father accuses her mother of cheating on him and doubts that he is truly her father, simply because she is so fair-skinned. However, her mother has always kept quiet about it and reassures Anita that she is really his child.
Her father has even threatened to run a paternity DNA test on her, unable to understand why she looks so different from her sisters.
Anita's immediately younger sister, Flora, a 22-year-old dark-skinned beauty, also dislikes her, even though Anita is two years older. About four of her sisters hate her, except for her youngest sister, Glory, who genuinely loves her.
They say blood is thicker than water, but in Anita's case, it seems water is thicker than blood.
Her father, Mr. Joshua Baker, doesn’t stop sending her to school. Instead, he continually accuses his wife of cheating and producing another man's child, yet he still supports Anita's education in business administration at university.
Anita is overjoyed as she takes her final exams, and when the results come out, she receives them with flying colors.
Due to her father's constant accusations toward her calm mother, Mrs. Tonia Baker, Anita has refused all romantic relationships with the boys who ask her out. Instead, she only goes out on dates with them and ultimately rejects their love proposals.
Anita's best friend at university, Temisa Patrick, has advised her to give love a chance, but Anita refuses. "My father constantly accuses my mother of cheating on him, and yet he still goes back to her, getting her pregnant to have the six of us. Mother says he loves her, but his daily insults don’t demonstrate that love," she said, shaking her head as she spoke to Temisa during their second year at university.
Many handsome and successful guys are interested in Anita, but she feels they only want to use her. She worries that once they take her virginity, they will dump her or accuse her of cheating, just as her father does to her mother, threatening to send them both into depression.
Anita sits in a private room with Temisa, preparing for their final convocation.
"Anita, I'm so happy! Finally, we will be parting from this school. I can't explain how much I've missed home!" Temisa exclaims.
"Me too," Anita replies faintly, knowing this isn’t entirely true, as she dreads returning home and facing her father’s constant insults toward her mother. Her three younger sisters, Flora, Esther, and Favour, will likely torment her, calling her an outcast due to their jealousy of her looks—something that feels entirely unfair to her.
Anita shakes her head in sadness, and Temisa notices. "What is it, girlfriend? You don’t seem happy, especially since you’re graduating as one of the best students in our university!" Temisa asks as she rises from her seat, gazing into the mirror, before approaching Anita on the couch.
Anita shakes her head and looks away from Temisa without responding.
"What’s the problem, dear?" Temisa asks again as she crouches in front of her. Deep down, she knows the reason for Anita’s unhappiness, as Anita has shared her feelings about men with her before.
"Don’t worry! When I get home, I can talk to my mother and let you come live with us, even if it’s just for your internship, until you find a better job to support yourself."
"Thank you," Anita smiles faintly, and Temisa replies, "You’re welcome! You know you’re like a sister to me, so you don’t have to worry or cry. Graduating with a first class is no small feat, and you should be happy! Today is your special day. Come sit here, and let me apply some makeup on your face."
Temisa pulls Anita to her feet, and Anita smiles faintly as she walks over to sit in front of the mirror.
"You know I don’t like makeup," Anita protests as she watches Temisa open one of her makeup kits and begin preparing her brushes.
"I know, but today is your lucky day! You should look fabulous while collecting your awards as the best graduating student, so no excuses. Just do this for me, okay? It’ll surely lift your spirits."
"Okay," Anita replies, staring at her reflection in the mirror while Temisa begins applying brown powder to her face.
Temisa starts with Anita's eyelashes, then switches to her cheeks and nose, applying the beautiful makeup. When she finishes, Anita is stunned by her reflection in the mirror.
Anita has never worn makeup before, and now staring at her new look, she becomes speechless, finally understanding why Temisa has so many admirers.
Temisa is a billionaire’s daughter because her father works for the Benson Group of Companies, one of the wealthiest families in their country.
Anita has read about the Benson family and wishes to work for them. That’s one reason she studied hard and read day and night to graduate as one of the best students at her university.
Anita has considered asking Temisa if she could speak to her father about applying for a position within the Benson Group. However, she fears it might seem like she is trying to gain an unfair advantage or that others might perceive her as a gold digger, hoping to use her body to gain favors. Therefore, she decides not to ask Temisa for help again.
"All done now. Don’t you see how gorgeous you look in the mirror? Oh my God! I’m the best makeup artist on campus!" Temisa fans herself, while Anita smiles.
"Don’t over-hype yourself because of me. Sure, you did well, but I still don’t like makeup," Anita admits.
"Tar! Shut up! I’m hoping a handsome guy will notice you today and ask you out," Temisa giggles. Guys seem to be all that Temisa cares about; she switches boyfriends as frequently as one might change clothes.
Temisa can be quite ruthless regarding relationships and doesn’t care what other women think.
While she claims to be a virgin, it’s hard to believe, given how often she’s seen with different guys at the beach, restaurants, and clubs, always taking pictures with them. Anita senses that Temisa is not being truthful, especially since she has also told Temisa she is a virgin.
Anita finds it difficult to accept that Temisa could truly be a virgin. In her mind, a virgin is typically reserved and keeps to herself, so she's not easily used by men. But Temisa dresses provocatively, wearing shorts, crop tops, and other alluring outfits.
Although they are both curvy and attractive, Anita never feels jealous of Temisa for her darker complexion. They are in the same department and studied the same courses, which has forged their close friendship. However, Anita is academically more gifted, while Temisa is more of the party girl.
"Let’s head out now! I’m sure most of our families have already arrived," Temisa says as she quickly packs her remaining items and makeup kits into her bag, zipping it up.
They rented the room they’ve been sharing, staying there most of the time, even though the school is on holiday.
Now that it's their final year, Anita gathers all her bags and boxes, ready to go home after the award ceremony.
They step out to witness the final university event, where Anita Baker is called to receive her first-class award and recognition for her academic excellence.
Temisa beams with pride, clapping for her friend, who walks up from her spot among the crowd of friends and family to accept her award.
In the Benson group of companies, Mr. Taiye Jackson sits in the front row of the conference hall, where meetings are being held with the various boards of members working under his companies, all of which are registered under his name.He speaks softly to his assistant, almost like a whisper, "Introduce the new head to them now."All employees are seated in the meeting hall to meet the newly appointed CEO, whose name has already been announced. However, none of the workers have seen him yet.Mr. Taiye Jackson, the former CEO, had been succeeded by his only son, Liam Jackson. His father, Mr. Benjamin, who was the first to create the Benson group of companies—thereby establishing the "Benjamin and Sons" brand—has already passed away.Everyone is gathered in the hall to witness the transfer of company ownership to Liam Jackson. Rumors circulate that he is cold, unfilial, and that the workers fear being dealt with harshly once he assumes the CEO position. Some have labelled him arrogant, m
Mr. John smiled and replied, "My daughter studied business administration at the University of Nigeria.""That's fine. You should submit her CV to us once she's home. I am sure we have more vacancies for newbies like her. I will be expecting to see her," Mr. Taiye replied."Father!" Liam quickly interrupted his father, his frown deepening."You cannot just court me with her yet," Liam said. His father smiled at him and replied, "I know, son. I am only trying to compensate Mr. John Patrick for his goodwill and commitment to working with us for over twenty years."Mr. John smiled as he bowed slightly to leave. "I will be taking my leave now, Boss. Thank you and congratulations once again, Liam," he said as he excused himself.Liam sighed as he heard Mr. John's last words. He walked with his father to the front of the meeting hall, and as they stood near the exit door, he spoke, "Father, I don't like what you just did. There are many other ways to compensate Mr. John Patrick, not at my ow
Anita goes back home with her father and mother, who arrived at her school to witness her final graduation ceremony. Her mother is very happy, but her father keeps his usual non-smiling face as he drives them home. He's proud that Anita didn't allow her beauty to deter her from becoming successful in life, but nonetheless, he's still confused as to why she's the prettiest of all his daughters.Even though his wife didn't give him a son, he isn't bothered by that, as their custom permits a woman to inherit all her father's property even if she's married to another man. However, he still wonders if he's Anita's true biological father.Sighing, he drives towards their home since the university is closer to their house in the city.Arriving home, he drives into their simple compound and parks. Their home is a simple bungalow with four bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen.Mr. Joshua Baker is the owner of the house, having acquired it from the original landowners. He steps out of the car
Mrs. Tonia smiles faintly at Anita as Anita makes way for Glory to pass with the tray of soup in her hands. Anita walks into the kitchen without uttering any words to her mother, but her face holds a great sorrow that her mom understands better."Anita," Mrs. Tonia slowly calls her name."What is it, mom?" Anita asks as she walks beside her mother."I want you to know that your father really loves you, like the rest of your siblings, and isn't against your success," Mrs. Tonia replies, holding Anita's hand in hers."Hmph," Anita sighs. "I know, mom, but I don't care about that. If Dad likes me, fine; if he doesn't, fine. I will always see him as my father, and that's all.""Anita," Mrs. Tonia begins."Mom, where's the fufu?!" Flora steps into the kitchen and interrupts them. She looks at Anita and walks to the kitchen cabinet to meet their mother."Mom, why are you holding her hands and talking to her? Are you begging her for something?" Flora asks again, crossing her arms over her che
Mrs. Tonia didn't say anything after Flora exited the room. She sighed and walked up to sit beside Anita on the bed, while Favour and Esther also exited the room."You shouldn't be so harsh with your sister. Fighting with her wasn't necessary," Mrs. Tonia said to Anita as she sat beside her on the bed."I know, mom, but they keep disrespecting me too much, and it's getting out of hand," Anita replied."It's okay. I understand, but don't change yourself because of them. Keep being my sweet and calm daughter," Mrs. Tonia advised Anita."Okay, mom," Anita sighed as she stared at her mother, while Glory walked up to sit on the bed too."I've got to go now and meet your father. Glory, go now, pack your bags, and come join Anita here," Mrs. Tonia said."Okay, mom," Glory replied. She stood up from the bed and walked out of the room to the one she shared with Lisa. Flora was already there, arranging her clothes into the wardrobe, but she didn't say a word to Glory, who stepped in and carried
Anita couldn't say anything after their mother left them to be with their father. She sighed and stared back at Flora, who seemed worried, as they walked back to sit on the couch."What do you think is the problem?" Esther asked Flora, but Flora shook her head and replied, "I don't know, but I am worried it's something serious."They sat back on the couch, waiting for their father or mother to step out and talk to them. Anita sighed and finally walked back to her room, not knowing what the problem was. She believed her mother would let them know, even if her father didn't want to, as she saw her father was already dressed to leave for work before receiving whatever news made him devastated. She prayed silently in her heart, "Let it not be that my father has lost his job."Anita shook her head and walked back into her room, feeling that her father's scream had something to do with his office work. She sat on her bed and picked up her phone to type her letter of application to the Benson
Liam walked into his office and took his seat in his executive chair, swirling it sideways and staring around his office. He smiled and rolled up his sleeves to start his new day at the office, leaning forward to his desk and switching on his computer to check the company's records. He waited for the computer to finish booting.Liam tick-tocked the time as he waited for the computer to boot up. Just then, his secretary knocked, and he responded, "Come in."Margret walked into his office, holding a file, and smiled faintly at him, staring downward a little before stopping in front of his desk."Yes... What's your name again?" Liam asked her as he looked up at her pretty face."Margret Jonathan," she said, still smiling at him."Okay, Miss Margret, what do you want, or what can I help you with?" Liam asked her."Sir, Mr. John Patrick brought this file this morning and said I should hand it over to you," Margret replied, staring at him."Okay, drop it here." Liam pointed to the space on h
"Hello, boss," Margret quickly picked up the office line and received the call."Come into my office right away," Liam responded. Margret gulped, quickly stood up from her seat, and dropped the phone. She saw Bambam smiling at her as she prepared to attend to a client sitting in front of her. Some clients stepped into Margret's office to see her, but she immediately directed them to other staff on the third floor, knowing the new boss didn't like to be kept waiting. Margret walked towards Liam's office door, knocked gently, and heard his cold response, "Come in."Margret gulped as she opened his office door and walked in."What took you so long to respond to my call?" Liam asked, continuing to type on his computer without looking away from the monitor."I'm sorry, boss, I arrived late from lunch," Margret replied. Liam paused his typing and looked up at her."Do you want to be fired?" he asked."No, boss," Margret responded nervously, fumbling with her fingers as her palms became sweat
Liam doesn't say anything as he stands watching the two friends reunite and forgive each other. They finally stand up, and Temisa walks over to see the twin babies in their little baby bed in the living room."Wow, they look so much like Liam, but my baby resembles me more than Alfred," Temisa says, while Anita only smiles at her."It's all good, girlfriend. I wish you both a happy married life, and I will be your bridesmaid on your wedding day," Temisa proposes, and Anita shakes her head."Flora already filled that position. You will only join the train.""Okay, dear. I have to be on my way now. You know I just darted out from the house as soon as Alfred told me about your babies and that you're here with Liam. Take good care of yourself, girlfriend, as you look slim," Temisa says, while Anita nods to her."I will. Let me escort you," Anita feels all the previous heaviness in her heart disappear, and she walks out of the mansion with Temisa. They walk to the garage where Temisa's car
Mrs. Tonia quickly greets Mrs. Juliet, "Good evening, ma'am.""Yes, welcome. Let's go in first," Mrs. Juliet ushers them into her living room. Just then, Mr. Taiye walks in too and sees the visitors, noticing Liam carefully carrying a baby in his arms. He recognizes the familiar lady as his son's secretary and immediately knows the babies are the result of the encounter they had in Liam's office."Good evening, Father," Liam happily greets his father. Mr. Taiye nods to all their greetings, while Anita nervously stares downward, feeling uncomfortable, remembering Mr. Taiye had warned her to stay clear of his son and never show her face in his company again."Mother, here are your grandkids," Liam walks over to meet his mother, who is sitting on the living room couch. He carefully places the baby boy in her arms, and Mrs. Juliet is still in shock as Liam never told her his secretary was pregnant or that he was bringing his babies home.Mr. Taiye is the most confused as he remembers he w
"Are you married?" Liam finally asks, sounding hurt. Anita shakes her head and replies, "No.""Then how come the babies?" Liam asks as he finally saunters over to meet her. He has missed her so much, and he doesn't look himself because of her."Anita," Liam finally approaches her, and she turns to face him, and he sees she's crying."I'm sorry," Anita cries, and Liam crosses the thin line between them and hugs her warmly."It's okay. I've missed you. I do love you," Liam comforts her in a hug, hoping whoever got her pregnant or married her doesn't step in and catch him hugging his wife.Anita wants to pull away from Liam as she inhales his cologne, realizing she's crying into his chest, but Liam hugs her tighter and raises her chin to face him."Don't you miss me?" he asks, and Anita sniffs."I do," she replies."And you don't want to kiss me or welcome me?"Anita finally raises her head properly and looks up at Liam's face.He looks sick too, so unlike him, and his beard is overgrown
Anita doesn't say anything as she watches her mother dress up in a green gown while she breastfeeds her little daughter, who sucks a lot, wanting to drain the remaining energy she has left."I have to go out now and buy everything we will need to eat tonight. There's no food in the kitchen, and I don't want to disturb Mama and her in-law.""Okay, Mom."Anita watches her mother walk out of the room. She carefully places her little girl down and walks to her phone to see all the text messages Liam sent to her. Her heartbeat increases as she unlocks her phone screen. She sees a lot of texts from him and love emojis and she smiles, staggering backward to sit on her bed to read his texts."What happened to you? Your mom said you got discharged from the hospital. Are you alright now? Not to worry, I will be coming down to your village to see you. But why did you shut us all out? I have really missed you. Honestly, I cannot stop thinking about the love we made, and I'm glad your mom finally
Mrs. Tonia pulls away from the mother-to-daughter hug and stares at Anita's face."It's okay, stop crying. Why did you run away, and who did you sleep with?" Mrs. Tonia questions as she walks to look at her grandkids. She stares at the two cute babies who are also awake and staring at her. She gasps in surprise as she isn't mistaken—the babies look so much like Liam, the CEO of Benson Group. She stares back at Anita, who’s also looking at her, and then back at the twin babies in their baby bed."Anita, who got you pregnant?" Mrs. Tonia asks again while Alice finally walks over to hold her hand."We can discuss this at home. Let it rest while we leave the hospital first."Mrs. Tonia sighs and looks from Alice to Anita and back to her grandbabies. They're so cute and fair, and now she knows why the CEO has kept on asking her about Anita. So he's the one that got her daughter pregnant and slept with Anita the very day he delayed her at work and made her return home late.Mrs. Tonia tries
Anita wakes up that evening with a light headache. She sits up in her bed and eats the dinner Alice brought for her from home."How are you feeling now? You need to breastfeed your babies and not starve them," Alice says. Anita finally looks at them as her eyes clear, and seeing one of them crying, Alice speaks to her."She's a girl, while the calm one here is a boy." Alice hands over the baby girl to Anita, who stares at her beautiful daughter's face. Her baby girl looks so much like Liam; even though she's very fair like her, her baby's short curly hair and round cute face resemble Liam so much. Anita's heart skips a beat as she keeps staring at her baby instead of breastfeeding her."Why are you still staring at her? Give her your breast milk" Alice finally yells at Anita, snapping her out of her daze. Anita opens up her shirt and breastfeeds her baby. The little girl in her arms stops crying after a while as she sucks on her breast. As if the second baby is aware, he resumes cryin
"I know," Liam replies and smiles back."But I still miss Anita and want to see her account," he says."Tell me the truth, boss. Do you just miss Anita, or are you in love with her and have a crush on her?" Temisa asks, and she sees Liam smile, which already answers her question."Just send me Anita's profile name. Let me search for her first.""Okay, I will," Temisa replies as she sits up properly."What about Alfred?" Liam finally asks her as he sees her sit up."He's not yet home. You know he runs the hotels and club too, cheating on me," Temisa pouts."He's not. He complains about you starving him," Liam tells her, and Temisa gasps."He said that? I know Alfred is so shameless," Temisa replies, and just then Alfred returns and walks into their room, as they both use one room together. Even though the room was his before she moved into his family house. His mother had insisted they must share a room together as a couple, and he clearly heard her call him a shameless man."Who are y
The line goes still for a while."Which sister are you talking about?" Barrister Jude asks."Oh, I just remembered I have her number, as her husband's case is with me. Mrs. Tonia, of course. Don't you know your sister again?" Mr. Collins questions."Oh, you mean her daughter is in the village? Which one?""I don't know her name yet, but she's white and very fair. She just gave birth to twins, making your sister a grandmother now.""Oh! You mean Anita?" Barrister Jude asks."Is that her name? Well, I don't know. I'm just seeing her for the first time now. Let me contact your sister then. I forgot I recently got her number due to her husband's case."Mr. Collins quickly ends the call, not giving Barrister Jude any more chances to question him. He cannot believe the silly man didn't want to help his in-law because of some past silly stories. He had to pity Mrs. Tonia and helped her case as he used to admire her when she hadn't married Mr. Joshua."Hello," Mr. Collins stands outside the h
Liam stares downward, not wanting to meet Mrs. Tonia's angry gaze, as he suspects she knows about the night he made love to Anita, but probably doesn't know who exactly slept with her.Was that why Anita left? What's really going on? he wonders."Actually, ma'am, I heard from her friend that she's going through a lot, and I don't know if I can help, but perhaps that will make her return.""Help with what? Just leave!" Mrs. Tonia shuts her door on Liam, not giving him a chance to speak.Did Anita's boss force himself on her? Mrs. Tonia wonders as she walks back to her parlor.Staring at the man, she sees him as a calm person with good moral upbringing, but is he the one that slept with her daughter and also bit and sucked on Anita's neck?If only Anita had told her the truth before she left, she wouldn't be rude to him, but she cannot help it. She behaves rudely because she misses her daughter so much.Liam leaves the building and walks back to his car.He knows her mother suspects him
