Chapter 1358

Author: Chweety
"Sir Jones!" Harrison stood his ground, defiant. "Noelle is my daughter, so she belongs with the Smiths. I won't have her associating with the Shaws, especially when they've never treated her right. How can I just stand by and let her be mistreated when my family could take her in?"

Sebastian scoffed. "You’re such a smooth talker now, but why didn’t you want her back then?” He was sure Harrison had been the one to reject Noelle and force Shirley to bring her back.

"It's not that I didn't want her back then." Harrison shot a glance at Shirley and inhaled sharply. "There was a big mix-up with Maddy back then. I thought our kid was gone!"

Sebastian caught the subtext and turned to Shirley. "He's telling the truth, isn't he?"

Shirley bit her lip, refusing to answer, and Sebastian got the picture. "I can’t believe I raised someone as selfish and deceitful as you. What did I do to deserve this living hell? Did I break a mirror or cross a black cat in a past life?"

"Dad..." Shirley's voi

Sebastian, who had not touched a cigarette in years, was furiously puffing away. He glared at Shirley, who was still hovering at the doorway, and his patience snapped. "Get in here!"Shirley stepped inside, the smell of smoke hitting her immediately. "Dad...""Save it," Sebastian interrupted sharply. "I don't want to hear any excuses. What's the deal with Noelle? Is what Harrison said true? I don’t care about your past with Harrison, but Noelle is innocent. Do you have any idea what you're doing by projecting your hatred onto her?""Dad, I-I hate him. He destroyed me!""I think you had it coming. I don't care about your ancient history. Just answer me this: is Noelle yours and Harrison's kid?""I..." Shirley balled her hands into fists and turned her head aside."Still putting on that act? Do you really think I'd have let you step foot into this house if it wasn't for Noelle? Forget it! Don’t bother saying anything else. Take Harrison and get out of my sight. I'll handle Noelle's

"Sir Jones, don't beat yourself up over this. You couldn't have seen it coming," May said as she plucked the cigarette from Sebastian's fingers. "You're not getting any younger, and your health has seen better days. If Noelle knew you were still smoking, she'd be worried sick!""Oh, that's right! I nearly slipped up there. Noelle's got a baby on the way, and she hates it when I smoke!" Sebastian smacked his forehead. "You're always on the ball, May."With another sigh, Sebastian said, "Now that Maddy and Harrison are back, I just don't know about Noelle... May, would you mind giving me some space? I need to think."Sebastian spent the whole afternoon in his study, lost in thought, until he finally picked up the phone and called Charles. "Hey, Charles, I need to chat. Can you drop by when you've got a moment?"Charles understood right away that Sebastian had something important to discuss. He shuffled his plans around for the evening and gave Noelle a ring to let her know he would b

Sebastian looked up, his gaze meeting Charles's clear, honest eyes. Charles nodded slightly, and Sebastian said, "Alright."Exhausted, Sebastian rubbed his temples. "I'll get straight to the point. Noelle isn't Jade and Julian's daughter, and you've known that for a while. She's actually my youngest daughter Madison's child, though she now goes by Shirley."Charles gave a slight nod. "I'm aware.""Do you know who Noelle's father is?""It’s Harrison."Sebastian was taken aback by Charles’ response but let out a resigned sigh. "I should’ve known. Even if I kept silent, you have the smarts to figure it out on your own. I only discovered today that Noelle is Harrison's daughter!"Sebastian caught the mild surprise on Charles's face and gave him a wry smile. "I've let my daughter down. Madison has always been too proud and stubborn. She’s full of ambition and can never be satisfied. She's always reached for the stars!"I once arranged a marriage for her. I was really close to the hea

A sharp look flickered in Charles's eyes. "What are you getting at, Grandpa?""To be honest, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I just found out today that Noelle's actually a Smith. Had I known that, I never would've given her to the Shaws."Charles nodded, piecing it together. "Do you think Noelle should join the Smiths?”He got it then. "The Smiths do have some serious clout, that's for sure.""I'm not saying Noelle has to go back or anything. She's married to you now, which puts my mind at ease. But she's still a Smith, and after the rough time she had with the Shaws, I bet the Smiths will want to make things right for her," Sebastian mused. "Still, it's all up to what Noelle wants. That's why I wanted to talk to you today. What's your take on all this, and how much does Noelle know?""All that matters to me is what Noelle wants. If she's up for it, she can reach out to Harrison. If not, I'm not going to push her. She's got me now, and I won't let anyone hurt her agai

Charles could not help but laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. "What's all this about?""Nothing.""Nothing."Noelle and Anna’s voices echoed in unison."Hmph!""Hmph!"Charles just stared at the pair, speechless."Okay, let's calm down!" Charles scooped Anna up and headed to the living room, hand-in-hand with Noelle. All eyes landed on them as they entered, and Noelle's cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She quickly stepped away from Charles. "Did you get something to eat?""Yep!" Charles chuckled at Noelle's bashful act and tugged her to sit next to him.Meanwhile, Anna made herself comfortable on his lap and gently nudged his cheek. "Uncle Charles, I told Aunt Noelle that when I'm big, I'm gonna marry you!""Don’t be silly. Uncle Charles is married to Aunt Noelle. When you're all grown up, you can marry someone who's perfect for you too!""But why?" Anna's face crinkled into a frown, and tears sprang to her eyes. "Mommy says you should marry someone you like, and I like

Chloe bit her lip, torn. She glanced at Noelle, then at Charles, weighing her options.Charles raised an eyebrow. "It's pretty late. Aren't you tired and worried about waking Anna?"Chloe gave a small nod. "Okay, we'll stay. Zara, could you help clean up a bit? I'm going to put Anna to bed.""I've got it!" Clarisse suddenly stood up and approached them. "I'll hold the baby."Chloe's face froze for a second, and before she could say anything, Clarisse had already gently scooped Anna into her arms as if she was terrified of disturbing her sleep. She whispered, "Zara, where's the room? Lead the way, please.""Right this way, madam!"Chloe's expression was tense, and she felt a weird twist in her gut. She realized she had not even thought to protest Clarisse taking over.Noelle and Charles shared a knowing look, and Noelle got to her feet. "Some things are in the past. Let's not dwell on them."Chloe forced a smile. "I'm not sure if I can forgive her.""Just try not to push her aw

Charles let out a sigh and playfully flicked Noelle's nose. "It's tough having a little wife who's too clever for her own good!" he said with mock frustration.Noelle bristled, grabbing his finger. "Little wife, huh? It sounds like you're the little wife here!"Charles's eyes crinkled with amusement as he gazed down at Noelle's indignant expression, shaking his head with a smile. "You're my little wife," he declared, pressing a kiss to her fingers."Oh, really? I'm your little wife? So, are you saying you have a big wife hiding out somewhere?" Noelle teased, reaching for Charles's ear before he quickly wrapped her hand in his. "Silly girl! You're the only wife for me."Noelle snorted. "Nice try, but I'm onto you and your subject-changing tactics!"With a sigh, Charles scooped Noelle into his arms. "Let's head upstairs. I’ve been out all day, and I've missed you!"That got a laugh out of Noelle. She hugged his neck and motioned for him to lean in, rewarding him with a kiss on the

Noelle remembered the guy she had bumped into at Royal Star that morning. "Harrison, right?”Charles raised an eyebrow in surprise. "How'd you figure that out?"Noelle shrugged. "Just a wild guess." She had not expected to actually hit the nail on the head.Harrison's face had popped into her mind out of nowhere. "Harrison was at Royal Star with Shirley today. It looked like there was some drama between them from how Shirley acted around him. I can't figure out their relationship. And get this: Harrison is Sean's uncle. Why hasn't Sean ever mentioned him?"Charles's eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief. "Yeah, Harrison is Sean's uncle, alright. Their family has some skeletons in the closet. If you're really curious, I'll spill the beans some other time.""It’s not a big deal. I'm not dying to know. I've only run into Mr. Harrison Smith a couple of times, but he seems like a decent guy. So, tell me. Why was Harrison tagging along? What's his deal with Shirley?"Charles dropped a

Meanwhile, Charles caught sight of his mother, Clarisse and father, Mateo, both of them beaming with pride. Clarisse's eyes were bright with tears as she dabbed at them with a tissue, while Mateo's face was etched with a quiet, proud smile."Charles!" Clarisse called out, her voice thick with emotion. She was barely holding it together, and her hands trembled as she waved him over for a hug. Charles went to her, his heart swelling, and pulled her into his arms. "I'm so proud of you," she whispered, and the emotion in her voice made his chest tighten. He pulled back, giving her a soft smile, and then hugged Mateo, who patted him on the back."Don't you go breaking her heart, Charles," Mateo said with a wink, making everyone nearby laugh. It was a comment Charles had heard many times before, but today, it carried a deeper, more heartfelt meaning. He turned to Noelle, and she smiled at him, her eyes crinkling at the corners in that way he loved. When it was Noelle's turn, she spoke her vows in a voice that trembled ever so slightly, but her words were strong. "Charles, you are my home," she said. "From the moment we met, I knew I'd found someone who would be my partner for the rest of my life. I promise to love you, to support you, and to share my life with you in all its highs and lows."It was beautiful, simple, and perfect. Charles could feel his heart swelling again, but then it was full of certainty. That was it. That was the moment he had been waiting for.The officiant smiled and nodded, glancing at Charles. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Charles, you may kiss your bride."The church erupted in applause as Charles leaned in to kiss Noelle, his heart beating faster than ever. The kiss was soft but full of meaning, a promise of everything to come. She appeared at the doorway, standing tall in her flowing white gown, the lace sparkling in the light. Her veil covered most of her face, but her eyes, the ones he had fallen in love with all those years ago, gleamed at him from beneath it. For a brief moment, it felt like time had stopped. She looked like an angel, and as she started her slow walk down the aisle, Charles could not help but feel his heart swell with love and pride. At her side, Kelly smiled at her, holding Noelle's bouquet carefully. Kelly, always the organized one, was keeping it together despite the emotion of the moment. However, just as they reached the halfway point, Kelly's heel caught on the edge of a pew, and she stumbled slightly. There was a collective gasp, followed by a nervous giggle from the crowd. Kelly straightened herself quickly, her face turning a little pink, but she winked at Noelle and whispered, "Just making sure everyone is paying attention." She turned to Kelly, her best bridesmaid, her eyes shining with thanks. "Kelly, I'm so grateful you're always here for me," Noelle said softly.
