Shoot!

“Shoot!” Mayeli muttered, stepping out of her car.

An accident had occurred, and the road was blocked. There was no other route leading to her house except this one. Accidents like this happened a lot during the winter. And tonight, it was snowing heavily.

She checked her silver Edox wristwatch. It was 8 p.m. When she left school, Mayeli had taken Bryelle to her mother's house. Bryelle refused to talk to her, so she had to visit her Mom.

After a long talk with Bryelle and a thorough scolding from her mom about telling Killian about Bryelle's real father, Mayeli was allowed to leave her mom's house. Now here she was, stuck!

She looked around for who she could talk to, but everyone seemed busy. Finally, a middle-aged, male police officer walked past her, and she quickly stopped the woman.

“What's the progress on clearing, Ma'am?” Mayeli asked.

The woman gave her a compassionate look. “I'm sorry, the road not be cleared anytime soon, and even if it cleared, it would be very dangerous t

The woman had the nerve to flirt with Killian in front of her.“Of course, she has every right to flirt with him. He is not yours or is he?” Her inner voice whispered.Oh, the damn voice! It always told her the truth. Truths she wasn't willing to accept.“Here you go”, the receptionist said, handing Killian the key to his room. Killian tried to collect the keys, but the wo

Killian stared at the chubby smiling man dressed in a black, expensive-looking Channel suit that was a bit too tight due to his protruding belly. Killian thought he could probably see his reflection in the man's black Firenze Atelier shoes that were published to a fault.“What are you doing here?” Killian asked, irritated. He and Mayeli were meant to be having their weekly meetings, but he was seeing someone else in her place.“I'm James a senior partner at JCK law firm. I will be replacing Mayeli as your company's legal representative”, the chubby man fumbled, with a nervous smile.“Why?” Killian asked, returning his eyes to the document in front of him. Did Mayeli quit her job without informing him?He had looked forward to this particular day of the week when she came to discourse business with him. He missed her melodious laughter and the way her green eyes gleamed when she was being serious. Why would she quit? He couldn't let her.“Mr Nixen said he would speak to you about that”

Mayeli and Diora walked through the noisy crowd. They had come to chill out after the day's work. It was finally the weekend, and at least, they could get a little break. They were in Mayeli's favourite bar to grab a drink, and most importantly, she wanted to her best friend Bryelle's father. She didn't want to joke about the unknown or Killian’s threat. They managed to find a seat in front of the young, handsome bartender who kept staring at Mayeli.“What can I offer the two beautiful women in front of me?” The young man asked with a smile.Diora ordered a glass of Brandy, while Mayeli ordered a whiskey. She needed all the courage she could get tonight. When the drinks came, Diora took a sip of her Brandy and turned to Mayeli. “What exactly did you want to tell me, Bess?”Mayeli took a deep and looked around the bar. It was filled with young blood, drinking, dancing, watching naked strippers on the dance floor, and having more fun.“I want to tell you who Bryelle’s father is”, Mayeli

He was holding her hands, wow.He had taken off his suit jacket and his tie, leaving only his white shirt. The first four buttons of his shirt were left undone, showing off his well-built chest, and hairy chest.Mayeli kept reminding herself that she was here on a mission, and she could not fall for Killian’s very tempting body, though she gladly would. They stepped into the large, breathtaking living room. The interior decoration had been redone, Mayeli noticed. The walls were now painted a deep shade of charcoal green and cream. White sofas with green pillows were carefully arranged, and cream curtains hung on the windows. The house looked heavenly.“Hey Mayeli”, Tyse said, rising from one of the sofas with a surprised smile on his handsome f

Mayeli silently followed Killian to the kitchen. When they reached, he opened the door and headed straight for the cupboard, he was ignoring her. In the middle of the kitchen was a large cabinet with its top painted white, and the body painted a dark shade of green, and three white chairs were arranged around it. All other shelves in the kitchen were also painted dark green, matching the rest of the house. A part of the kitchen wall, overlooking the garden, was transparent, giving a breathtaking view.“What do you want to eat?” Killian asked, finally breaking the silence.“I don't have anything in min

Kreed laughed and stood up. He picked up the baseball bat he had been holding and threw it to Tyse.“Beat Killian to death with it, and I’d let you live. You did nothing to offend me, did you?”Mayeli’s eyes widened.“What?” Tyse asked.“You know it’s either you or him, right? Or mostly both. So why don’t you save yourself?”Mayeli thought of what to do to buy time. Of course, no one was coming to save them, since Kreed said he had taken care of the police, but she had no other option. She couldn’t watch what was about to happen. She’d rather die first.“Kreed, when did you become this evil? There’s still a way out of this, you don’t have to commit more murders.”Kreed laughed for a long time, and when he stopped, he faced Mayeli. “The day your father burnt down my family, he created an unrepentant monster. I only trained the monster. First I worked with the CIA, then with the FBI, then as a special intelligence security agent, and when I was convinced I had learnt everything I wanted

Mayeli and Killian turned to see Kreed standing a few feet from them. He was wearing the same outfit he had been wearing this morning before she had left him. Black turtle-neck top, black trousers, black boots and a dark brown long coat. But this time there was something different. He was wearing black gloves. But that wasn’t it. What was he doing here? How did he know she was here? She told no one.Kreed took a step forward, and Killian immediately reached for his pocket.Kreed was faster. “Let me borrow your words. I won’t dare if I were in your shoes because I’ll shoot you down without hesitation. Now rid yourself of your weapons and don’t try to play smart.”Killian did as he was told.Mayeli couldn’t believe her ears. This was Kreed, right? Or did he have a twin? Or perhaps was this a replica of him? Or cloning? She didn’t understand. Why was Kreed pointing a gun at them?“Kreed. What’s happening? I don’t understand.” But Mayeli was beginning to understand. He had trusted them to take care of her while he was away, but they had done just the opposite. They had begged and apologized severally, but he wasn’t forgiving them yet. He’d make them work for their forgiveness, and so far, they’ve been doing just that.“Maybe you should take the wheel!” Tyse barked at Truce. “I’ll drive faster, Killian,” he replied, Killian with a smile.“If that bitch, Shaila so much as touch my woman, I won’t hesitate to strangle her with my hands”, Killian said through his teeth. How could he have missed the signs? He had known Shaila wasn’t the sister she pretended to be, and he had known she was still obsessed, but he didn’t

He was two levels higher than me, so we never really talked. Everyone loved him, everyone wanted him, and I wanted him more than any of them. And one day, I went home after school and he was with his parents in our house. Father had introduced them as his friends and ours, and had told us they were going to have dinner with us.I still remembered how overjoyed I had been that day. Thankfully, she knew the key pass.“I'm coming in,” she said, and pushed the door open. Surprisingly, the office was empty. The office was just the way Mayeli remembered, the same.
