“Mom, can Uncle Killian come with us?” Bryelle asked, giving Mayeli a baby face.
“What?”
“Can Uncle Killian come with us?” She repeated.
Mayeli shared a look with her mom, speechless. She didn't know how to tell her baby that her request was impossible to grant.
Mayeli, Bryelle, and her Mom are seated on her king-sized bed, laid with cream sheets, in her spacious peach-coloured bedroom. Everything about the room is painted cream and peach, giving it a homey feel.
Bryelle is turning three in a week, so Mayeli decided to go on a two-week vacation to Croatia with her mom and Bryelle. She just announced the news to both of them.
“He can't my, love, he has a lot of work to do”, Mayeli's Mom replies to Bryelle.
Mayeli gave her mom a grateful smile, but got a stern smile that said “How long would you keep this a secret?” She sighed, and looked away, not in the mood for one of mothers constant rebukes.
“When are we leaving?” Her mom asked.
“Tomorrow”, Mayeli replied brightly.
“Yey!” Bryelle screamed, jumping around.
“Is Nixen coming?” Her Mom asked. Her mom has been very nice to Nixen, but Mayeli is certain she can spot a glint of disapproval each time she talks about Nixen.
Thankfully, she was twenty-five and old enough to make decisions without any opposition, so no one's opinion mattered. Plus, Nixen is too caught up with work to leave the office for some days.
“No, it's an all-girls trip. I invited Shaila too, and she agreed to meet us in Croatia”, Mayeli replied.
“Perfect”, her Mom beams, tossing her hair playfully. At Fifty-Four she was still extremely beautiful. “It's so long since I last saw my grandkids and Bryelle would love the company”.
Shaila, Mayeli's elder sister, was married with two kids. She and her husband lived in Italy but occasionally visited.
Her sister and her kids were full of joy, and Mayeli couldn't wait to see them.
Bryelle gave her a toothless smile. “Can we leave now Mom?” She asked.
“I see you're already excited. We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning, my love”, Mayeli replied.
“Thanks, Mom”, Bryelle said with a smile that reminded Mayeli of Killian. The little girl was growing up to look very much like her father, and it scared Mayeli.
Mayeli struggled off her anxious thoughts before her mother could notice. “It would be the best birthday my love”, Mayeli said to Bryelle, tinkling her small frame.

Killian walked into Fortuna feeling a bit lighter. It was the first time he had visited Hvar since his mother's death. It pained him that he couldn't remember anything about their time here together when he was twelve.
He had loved his mother deeply, just as she had loved him. It pained him deeply that he couldn't remember who she was behind the photos.
“What's your reservation, sir?” The pretty dark-haired receptionist asked with a blush. Her eyes looked dreamy.
“Room 278, fifth floor”, Killian answered, nonchalantly.
“Give me a second”.
She peered into her system for a while and then turned to him with utter admiration sparkling in her light green eyes. Her eyes reminded him of Mayeli, though Mayeli's were greener.
“Are you Mr Killian Rylas?” She asked.
“Yes”.
“It's an honour to meet you. The hotel will do our very best to provide everything you need”.
“It's just a few days vacation, that won't be necessary, thank you”, Killian replied.
The receptionist blushed deeper. “How humble of you sir we'll take it upon ourselves to go the extra mile for your convenience”.
Killian was about to protest, but he was interrupted.
“We would very much appreciate you going the extra mile ma'am, please give us your very best”, Tyse said as he and Truce walked up to the sign-in desk to meet Killian.
As usual, his friends had begged to tag along, more like forced their way into his short vacation.
The receptionist looked at Tyse, then at Truce, and finally at Killian. Her face looked like she had just seen an apparition.
Killian politely pulled his room card from her hands and excused himself. He wasn't in the mood to hear what Tyse had to say to the pretty receptionist. It would probably end up with her waking up naked in his bed the next morning.
He entered the elevator and pressed the fifth floor. When the elevator door opened, he walked down the hallway to his room. Tyse and Truce were occupying the VIP room opposite him.
The hotel manager had informed him that the three rooms beside him had been booked. He wondered who was staying there. It wasn't a holiday season yet, and the city was empty.
He unlocked his door and was just about to enter when the room door beside him suddenly opened.
A shock of familiar curly, blonde hair appeared in the doorway before the owner retracted. The hair reminded him of Mayeli. He had been thinking of her too often these days and it bothered him.
He waited a while to see if the lady would come out of the room, again, but she didn't.
Sighing, he entered his room, chuckling about how he was stupidly waiting for someone he didn't know.
What was wrong with him?
He heard a soft knock on the door, and before he could respond, Tyse and Truce sauntered in.
“I saw a lady from afar that looked a lot like Mayeli. Is she here too?” Truce asked Killian.
Killian's head snapped up from the newspaper he had been scrutinizing.
“Mayeli? Why would she be here”, he asked.
He could hear his heart beating wildly. Just the mention of her name made his heart race. What was Mayeli doing to him?
“Probably false alarm. I didn't get to see her face so I won't know if it's her or not. Don't get all worked up”, Truce replied. He adjusted his white Denim shorts and sat down on the king-size bed in the room. “I'd love a glass of wine to recuperate from all the stress”.
After kicking off his white Nike sneakers, he started to dial room service.
“You just mentioned his heartthrob and you expect him not to get worked up. What is he, Budda?” Tyse asked, laughing. He was wearing light blue pants with a matching shirt. His hair was left to fall across his shoulders. On his feet was a pair of black Herm straps and H slippers.
“Whose heart throb?” Killian asked coldly.
“When are you going to admit you like her?” Tyse asked, tossing Killian a pillow.
“I don't like her”, Killian lied. As much as he wanted the words he just spoke to be utterly true, he just couldn't stop liking Mayeli.
The doorbell rang, and Truce gestured for Killian to get it since he was closest to the door.
“Liar”, Tyse mumbled, chuckling.
Killian rolled his eyes at his friend, before turning towards the door.
When he opened the door. He saw a young, smiling Waiter with a tray full of food. Truce's handwork.
He stepped out of the room to let the man pass. He was just about to enter his room when he noticed the door beside him closing. He caught a shock of blonde hair before she shut the door.
He felt his heart beat racing What was wrong with him? He didn't even know the lady.
“She's the one”, his inner voice whispered.
Who?
Mayeli sat by the pool of her hotel with her elder sister, Shaila, enjoying the warmth of the sun. Shaila was wearing an orange H&M bikini, while Mayeli was wearing a black one. They had both packed their long hair into a high messy bun.The children were with their grandmother so they had little free time on their hands.Shaila was tall and beautiful just like Mayeli, but with long, straight black hair instead. She had taken my father's hair colour, while Mayeli had taken my mom's.She had an oval-shaped face with high cheekbones, a pointed nose, and dreamy grey eyes just like my mom’s. She exuded a jovial and charismatic aura that drew people to her, and as a renowned model and fashion designer, it helped her career a great deal. Mayeli loved her sister dearly, but their busy schedules and distance prevented them from hanging out often. They cherished the few occasions they could be together like this.Shaila was married to an Italian, handsome actor, Petro, and they had two kids.
“Fuck!” Mayeli Wess cursed as the hot coffee spilt over her hands, ruining the hand of her black, wool skirt Chanel suit.“Sorry girl”, her best friend, Diora Waters, said, handing her a handkerchief. “Where was your mind?”Diora was a Twenty-Six-year-old, short, chubby, and charming lady. She had been by Mayeli’s side since she relocated to England.Mayeli had fled England when she was just sixteen, after her father's death. Her father had been one the richest and dirtiest politicians in London, and after his death, her mom, elder sister, and she had to flee due to his numerous enemies.Mayeli had only moved back two years ago, a hungry twenty-three-year-old woman who had been prepared to stay. She had worked her ass off, climbing up the corporate ladder until she was one with the elite family—the best of the best. She was now a wonderful, renowned, and influential twenty-five-year-old hot-shot lawyer who could proudly say she had won.Her mind was on the screen of the firm’s coffee
Mayeli smiled as he followed her to the hotel room they had just booked. It had been easier than she thought. It hurt her slightly that he didn't remember her, but it made things easier, so it wasn't a problem. She had heard from her sources that he had an accident that cost his memory, years ago, but a bit of her had still hoped he would know her when he met her.She unlocked the door of the room, entered inside, and tossed her red channel purse on the table. She listened for his movement behind her as the door clicked shut, and the locks turned. His arms came to wrap around her waist from behind, pulling her into an embrace, while his lips teased the skin on her neck. For a moment was shocked at the comfort she still felt in his arms and then a shudder ran through her body as he trailed kisses on her neck. His words came back to her, words from a decade ago.“I'd love you forever Mayeli, until my last breath”.She moaned slightly as his hands came to rest on her breasts, squeezing m
“Mom, can I have some more gummy bears?” Bryelle, Mayeli's two-year-old daughter asked, batting her long lashes that perfectly complemented her lovely face.Bryelle was dazzlingly beautiful just like Mom and Dad, though she took her father's light blue eyes, his perfect lips, and his curly black hair. For age she was a smart, precarious child, always asking questions that left Mayeli stunned. She probably got that trait from both of her parents.“No baby, you've had too much already, let's get you to school”, Mayeli replied, standing up to grab her brown Louis Vuitton handbag. She was wearing a dark brown Everlane suit, with matching brown Steve Madden heels to complete the look. Her blonde hair was packed in a neat, low bun. As always, she looked perfect.“Mom, please”.“I'm sorry baby, let's get going. Uncle Nixen is going to pick me up from school today, cos I won't be back early and Grandma has somewhere to go”.She straightened her daughter's white short-sleeved shirt, neatly tuc
Killian peered at the neatly arranged stack of files on his large oak table, his pen in his mouth. His office was one of the best in England, with its transparent glass walls displaying a lovely view of the city. The walls of his office were painted a deep shade of green, matching perfectly with his white cushions, a large, dark-brown oak table, and a black office chair.A few paintings hung on the wall, while a large, glass shelf held neat stacks of his favourite books and his numerous trophies.Right now, he wasn't in the mood to admire the works of his decorators. His mind was on something more urgent.A construction worker had just sued Soter Group for the injury he had sustained while using their product and was demanding a million dollars as compensation.“Crazy”, Killian muttered angrily. From the look of things, the odds were against them, and the man seemed most likely to win the case. Plus, the fool had hired a well-known, ace lawyer.Killian had called the JCK firm to infor
“Come in”, Claudia's calm voice said from the other end.She took another deep breath as she walked into Claudia's spacious office. The office was of the best in the firm, located on the highest floor. It was painted a lovely shade of blue and white, and its glass walls overlooked the city of Bristol. You could lose yourself by just staring through those walls.Mayeli sat in front of Claudia's large oak table, waiting for her to finish her phone conversation.Claudia’s pretty, high-cheekboned face was twisted in concentration. Her short, curly, black hair fell in waves a little past her shoulders, bouncing slightly with each movement. It blended perfectly with her black, expensive-looking suit. She looked elegant.“Mayeli darling, good to see you, it's been a while.Mayeli threw her a polite smile. Claudia had always been very kind to her.“It's good to see you too Claudia”.“Okay, let's get to my reason for calling you. As you know, I was elected to represent Soter Group, in the last
Killian stared through Nixen's glass office walls at the beautiful lady with long blonde hair as she walked to her black 2023 Audi Q5, with a pretty little girl that looked almost exactly like her. He was certain she was the woman he had met at the Opera two years ago.He looked the way her Olive green suit complimented her glowing, pale skin. Her lovely blonde hair was packed in a neat ponytail, highlighting her heart-shaped face. His mind went to a night two years ago when he had held her body naked in his arms. He could still remember her exotic scent. He had only feigned ignorance earlier because she seemed very uncomfortable with his presence, and Nixen seemed to have something for her. He didn't want to cause any problems. But he wasn't sure he could keep to that when it came to her.How could he forget her? He had thought about her frequently in the past two years. He tracked her down and waited patiently for the right time to meet her. But he never found her. And after all th
Mayeli stared at the surprised face of Killian. Had he not expected her to come? She had purposely kept him waiting. He could keep up with that at least. She loved the way his eyes raked her body in a very sensual way, as though he was seeing her for the first time. She was wearing a little green, flowing evening gown, with the split coming to rest just above her thighs. On her feet were silver Zara heels and her hands held a matching silver Chanel purse. Her long carefully styled blonde hair fell in waves down to her waist. She had applied only a light make-up and put on a silver necklace with matching dangling silver earrings. In all, she looked stunning as always.“I…I umm, I didn't think you would come”, Killian managed to say after minutes of staring. She loved the way his not too overly simian black, LV shirt highlighted his perfect body, blending with his curly black hair that he had left to fall over his face, this evening. It was the first in years she had seen him so casuall

“Hey Tyse”, Nixen said casually, shaking hands with him.Mayeli stared at them, shocked. Tyse is a renowned multi-billionaire. Yeah, Nixen is, rich, but not up to Tyse, Truce, and Killian's level.“How're you doing bro”, Tyse beamed. There's a bright, genuine smile on his face, but Nixen's smile looks forced. Mayeli wondered why.“I'm good. It's a pleasant surprise to see you here”.“I brought Mayeli, but I'm on my way now”.Mayeli noticed Nixen's hands tighten around the bags he was holding. His smile evaporated.“Oh, I see”, Nixen mumbled, glancing at Mayeli.“I better get going”, Tyse said. He had probably noticed the change of expression.“I'll walk you to your car”, Mayeli said, following Tyse.“I think walking me to my car was a bad idea. Nixen didn't look happy about the fact that I brought you”, Tyse said, running his hands through his hair. Gosh, he was so handsome. After Killian, he was the finest man Mayeli had ever seen.“It's fine. You only helped”, She reassured him. So
Mayeli stared at Killian. How could he? How could he do that to Diora, while making out with her?He kept a nonchalant expression, showing no signs of guilt. “What did you do to her?”He looked at her with something close to anger and irritation. “I didn't do anything, Mayeli”.Truce looked at both of them.“Am I missing something here?” Truce asked.“I don't know, ask her?” Killian yelled.Truce turned to Mayeli. “What's wrong, Mayeli?”“Ask your friend”, she screamed, walking away. She saw Truce throw her a quizzical look, and then swiftly ask Killian what was happening. She waited for Killian to reply, but she heard nothing other than a banged door. She hissed and entered the elevator. So, he had made good his threats. She thought of reporting him to the authorities, but she had no proof yet, plus she didn't want the circumstances surrounding Mayeli's birth to go public. Of Course, surely it would if she reported the matter to the authorities. It involved two prominent figures a
Killian stared at Mayeli’s stubborn expression, not knowing what to do. She looked a bit scared by his words, but she maintained a defiant look. She had a face that reminded him of Becky G.She bit on her full, lower lips, and pouted stubbornly. “I hardly deserve a beating for using your toilet”, she pointed out.“Against my will”.“It's just a toilet”. She folded her arms and sat on his bed. “You look gorgeous in white and black though”.His eyes bulged at the socket. What did she just say?She stood up from the bed and walked to where he stood, planting her small frame in front of him. She had a coquettish smile on her face. Gosh! She was tempting him.“Maybe I can handle your anger, so bring it on”. He stared at her slightly apart, pulp, pink lips, and a sensation ran through him.He was certain it was the alcohol talking, but it didn't stop him from feeling the day he was feeling. He turned away from her and walked towards his balcony. He wasn't sure he could resist her when she w
Mayeli edged through the crowd in search of Killian. She had been asking herself several times why she was looking for him, but she couldn't find an answer. When she couldn't see him anywhere, she gave up. She stood in the shadows silently watching the party and sipping wine. She was starting to feel lightheaded from all the wine she had consumed. She felt the urge to pee and headed to find the restroom. For fuck sake, where would she find one in this large house, she wondered. She took the elevator and pressed the third floor, though she wasn't sure where that lead. Build least, she could escape from the noise of the party for a while. When the elevator door opened, she walked down the hallway stretched in front of her, looking for anything that looked like a restroom. Her feet felt wobbly, and she quickly gripped the nearest door handle for support. The door gave way, and she stumbled into a large room. The walls were painted a lovely shade of charcoal green. A large king-size bed w
Mayeli felt apprehensive as she packed her Audi in front of the party venue. Gosh, just how big was this house? She wondered. Mayeli stared at him like he had gone knots. “You came for me? After sending that message. You have the nerve to show yourself to me?” she yelled. People were turning towards that direction, but she didn't care.“I didn't send the message,” he said, raising his brow slightly. His blue eyes looked angry.“Are you going to keep denying it?”“Why are you so certain it's me?” He ran his hands through his lovely hair, letting out a frustrated sigh.“Because only you and me fucken know about two years ago”.“You said your baby was not the product of the affair, so why does it bother you so much? Besides, I'm a celebrity. People follow me around. Someone else might have seen us enter the hotel”.“Please, don't give me that bullshit explanation. And I'm bothered because it fucken hurts to be threatened by you”.“I didn't do it, Mayeli!” His voice was raised now, and she could tell he was getting angry, but she didn't care.“Stop fucking denying it!”“Fine. I did it”, he mumbled in a broken v
