Tony.
It was complete chaos down there.
Planets, or what remained of them floated around , creating massive asteroid fields. X was tense as he barely missed them. He had tried contacting the Le'uthara post, but got the same dead signal. Things were bad. From what X told me about the Gentry, they seemed very domineering and powerful. For a single army to attack them, it meant they were unimaginably scary. A disembodied arm hit the windshield, just as X got out of the last asteroid field. When the arm flew off, I was left with a view of Le’uthara. It was massive, with rings made of energy surrounding it. It glowed and pulsed and I could make out the faint construct of an energy shield. The planet looked fine, totally different from what I was expecting. I was about to take a sigh of relief when Ko'vren entered orbit and I saw the other half of the planet. Harbingers, divine ones, with a number enough to make up a small army, were bombarding the planet’s shields.
“Ko'vren, switch to assault mode.” X finally spoke as he tapped a circular orb at the centre of the command deck. A hologram appeared, showing all the harbingers and the gentry defenders. He turned to me. “Take the wheel”, he said as he stood up and went to the door. “I need you to draw their attention while I kill them off with the annihilation spell.” He touched his chest and an emerald glow surrounded him. “Seriously man, can’t I get to fight one of them?” I sit in the chair and lock on to them. “They’re rare, you know.” X's eyes glowed as his hair turned pure white. I’m never telling him that he looks so cool when he does that. “It’s for your safety man. If you get overwhelmed, they could take the shard and God knows what a harbinger with a shard could do. Just shoot, okay? It’ll be fun, just like using a VTOL, except in space, and you’re shooting corrupted gods and.....you know, it’s nothing like a VTOL. Anyways, you’ll get the hang of it” He jumped out and I turned my focus to the console. I aimed at the ugliest one I could find, locked on and fired. A bright yellow beam fired into the side of the thing and it immediately turned and rushed at me.
“Here we go....” the harbinger started flying towards me and I opened fire, shredding it before it could reach. “Yeah, definitely not a VTOL, this is way cooler” Others noticed their fallen counterpart and started rushing to the ship. “Uh, X? You done yet?” X was by the side, brows furrowed in concentration. “Ko’vren? What else do we have here? I looked at the holographic screen and saw something suspiciously similar to a Railgun. I tapped it and a 3D model attached to my arm. I saw the 'arm' of the Railgun outside the ship. “Okay....let’s see what you can do.” Ko'vren locked on to a bunch of the approaching harbingers and fired. Bolts of lightning fired at the monsters and they just burst. “Whoa! I’ve got to try that again” I tried firing again, but the Railgun was recharging. My joy was short-lived as I saw the entire flock of harbingers headed for me. I switched back to the normal cannons and fired. It was futile. They were about to swarm the ship when I heard a low resonating hum and X's booming voice.
“Antaroq Eznon Dymor!” Almost immediately, the ship was bathed in a white glow. A whole array of sigils, all facing the oncoming threat. I heard a roar like a waterfall, and then a cannon fired. It was at least a planet’s diameter, completely annihilating the harbingers and shaving off a good portion of the shield, enough for us to fly into. “Tch, show-off”, I say as he enters the ship again.
“You could’ve fired it immediately we started. You wanted me to see the new spell.” He sat down beside me and turned the ship back into flight mode. “ I have no idea what you’re talking about.” The ship entered the crack in the hole, entering the atmosphere. “Of course you don’t”, I say, jabbing his arm. As the ship soon stops as another ship like it appears in front of ours. “Identify yourself, or we’ll shoot you down.” On cue, other ships appear all around us with bigger cannons. X calmly walks out the ship and floats mid air. The person in the other ship is in shock as he recognises X. “You traitor! Fire on him! Now!”
X lazily redirects all the fire out of harm’s way and they come out of their ships and start attacking him. Some of them come towards Ko'vren and I come out to fight too. “Finally, a warm-up. I feel my body heating up as my shard activates. My senses sharpen and I float up a bit. The first ship opens fire on me and I dodge the beams. I fly through the first ship, destroying it and then through the second one. They change tactics and come out from the ships and try to overwhelm me with numbers. I make a staff out of energy and rush at the group. They go into formation and cast spells, firing bolts of electricity at me. I whirl the staff and catch the lightning bolt with the tip of the staff and redirect it to them. It hit one square in the chest and he falls to the ground. I twirl the staff again and throw it at one, reaching it the moment it hits his face, catching it and whacking another one in the face with it. They start running away and I fold my arms. “Disappointing.”, I say and turn around to meet a fist, head on.
I’m barely able to dodge the punch. The resulting shockwave pushes me back. I size up the new contender. A girl huh? A light skinned female stood just in front of me, with a cross expression on her face. She wore the same garb as the rest, a black cloak that fluttered in the wind, with an added gold at the fringe. Probably someone with rank. She looked strong enough, I could tell. Those fists had seen battles. But they were rather slender. Smooth even. I wondered what else her body would offer. Her hands were enticing enough. Focus Tony, focus. X was busy with those ships, so I figured this was my show to run. “You pack a pretty good punch” I float up to her level and summon my bat. She stays silent, entering a fighting stance. Well, so much for small talk. In an instant, she is in front of me releasing a barrage of punches. The bat cracks and breaks and I’m pushed to the ground. She’s faster than me, that’s for sure. Looks like I can’t hold back that much” She continues barraging me with punches, shattering my defences.
“Great. Just great. Getting beat by a girl” I say, wiping the blood from my mouth. She stands there, eyes glinting with malice. Even her eyes are pretty. I stand and close my eyes. Shard release, level one. My blue glow appears and I feel my shard energy course through me . I stretch and run towards her, without warning. She seems flustered at my change of tactics, but quickly recovers. She is running to meet me soon enough, and we clash rather forcefully. Trading blow for blow now, the surrounding area is ripped to bits by the shockwaves from our clashes. I duck as she tries to kick me and kicks her leg. She loses her balance and I take advantage of that. My fist glows and I uppercut her.
Fist of the shard: Railgun.
She shoots into the air, and I follow suit. She stops mid-air and hurls back downward. I can sense a black miasma around her now. A huge black hand appears beside her and shoots towards me. I slash it in half, but it reforms into ropes and bind me. A purple sigil is in front of her now and I watch as she passes through it, totally transforming. Clad in black armour, and brandishing a huge blade, I recognize the familiar demon magic. “Possession”, I say as she fires a blast of hellfire at me. My dome blocks the fire, but not for long. I tear off the binds and release my second shard level. I dodge the burst of flames and fly at her. Orbs appear around me, and they fire concentrated blasts of energy at her. She blocks and I summon my katana.
Sword of the shard, First stance: Cleaver of the Heavens
A huge blade of energy appears in the air beside me pointed directly at her. It fires with incredible speed and she finally speaks. Prayer of the Damned: Inferno of Souls . Her sword burns with hellfire and she hurls it at the oncoming energy blade.
“All right, that’s enough from you two kids” I see lightning flash in the space between our two attacks and they both disappear. A man dressed in a suit, with long white hair is left. Electricity crackles from where his eyes are supposed to be and he wears a wide grin.
“Can’t have you destroying the planet, now can I?” X floats down, putting his sword away. “I thought you notified the Gentry of our arrival, Zeus.” Zeus? The god Zeus? I thought he’d be....well, older. “Oh.... apologies, it slipped my mind.”, He said, still grinning. X gave him a dirty look and sighed. “Well, he knows I’m here, might as well just get on with it.” As Zeus led us to the meeting point, X turned to me. “Who were you fighting anyway?”
I look around for the girl, but she’s gone already.
Ah shit, didn’t even get her name.
X“He shouldn’t be here! I won’t allow it! And he brings human filth on my sacred planet?” M’gethir’s voice booms in the throne room. He hasn’t aged a bit, I see. Still as scrawny as ever though. He stands glaring at me. I glare back. The remaining soldiers in the room have pure hate written on their faces. I recognized a few from my time here. Bardoc, Magellan, and the other guy, what was his name? I couldn’t remember. M'gethir probably told them some awful lie about me, and labelled me a traitor. Well then, a traitor I shall be. I smile at one of them and his face becomes stone cold, he was probably fighting the urge to impale me. I get that a lot. He eventually calmed down and turned away, facing upward. Sucker.“Hey, who are you calling filth, you scrawny fuck?” Tony yells back at him. The guards lose their cool and rush Tony. He swats them like flies and continues talking. “We’re here to help, so you could try to be nicer.” M'gethir’s eyes flare up with a bright gr
Tony.I couldn’t sleep.I stared at the ceiling of Ko’vren for an hour now, and sleep wouldn’t come. Occasionally, I’d look over to where the girl lay. She still had her cloak on, but I knew she had a nice shape underneath. My eyes trailed from her heaving chest, to her face, her lips, nose, and her piercing green eyes. Oh shit. She’s awake. I quickly face the ceiling and pretend I didn't notice her. “You stare a lot” she finally said, breaking the awkward silence. “I was bored, and looking at you made for more entertainment than the ceiling”, I reply, casually, still looking up. She snorted and didn’t rely. More awkward silence. Guess it’s my turn to break the ice. “Why do your people hate him so much?” I asked, turning to face her. Her gaze remained fixed on me, green eyes contrasting against her auburn red hair. “He is a traitor. An outsider that betrayed the same ones that took him in. The murderer of our Arch-mage, Z’ara, my mother”“And let me gue
X.Air forcefully rushed out of my lungs just before I landed. “Gah! Who the f-“ A pair of fiery red eyes meet mine. Fuck. I’d know those eyes anywhere. I land on my knees. “By the lords, Eisty, couldn’t you wait until I reached the ground?” Eistibus, King and Arch-mage of the second sector.....and also a friend of sorts. “That was payback for leaving without any explanation.”, he said with a sadistic smile, extending his arm. He hadn’t changed a bit over all these years. I grab his hand and get up. Tony is about to attack him, and I raise a hand. “Calm down, tiger, he’s a friend” Eistibus looks past Tony, sizing him up. Then he started looking at Tony with more...interested eyes. “Oh my. Who’s he?” his voice hinting more interest. Tony walked over. “Who’s he, X?” Tony said, radiating hostility.Eistibus, meet Tony, my best friend, Tony meet King Eistibus of the second sector, and an old friend.” Tony reluctantly stretched out his hand. Eistibus still stood wher
Tony.Immediately he took off the hood, X’s hands tightened around the chair, almost breaking it. I could already feel the slight emissions of elven magic from him. He was mad. And he wasn’t even trying to hide it. I didn’t recognise the man, and no-one else there seemed to. Not even Zeus or Horus. The man, now that I had a better look at him, had similar features to X. Same eyes, hair, skin....I looked at X as a realization hit me “Is he your father?” X didn’t reply. It was an unspoken rule between us. We never talked about his father. Ever. Once I pried too much and lost an arm. I had to learn regeneration that day. He never spoke of his past, and I just assumed it was too traumatic and I never asked again, especially after I lost my hand. But now...“X, is he your father?”, I asked again, this time he gave a grim nod, never breaking his gaze way from the man, as if he would vanish if he did. Confused murmurs rose from the Arch-mages. The man ignored them and faced X
X.So you remember me after all this time? What changed?“Could you please shut up, Astaroth?” He had been pestering me ever since we got back to Le’uthara. I put him to sleep after I mastered the shard. And he was mad, very mad. I abandoned him immediately I was done, although in my defence, I beat him into submission, and he was my slave. I had every right to do anything I wanted, right? Apparently not, cause he kept yammering away in my mind. He, the great king of the Seventh Circle of Hell, was stuck with me. I remember Lucifer laughing his balls out as I dragged . Astaroth away. Ah, good times. When I was a young and daring adventurer, and didn’t have the fate of potentially the entire multiverse resting on my head. When I didn’t think of crushing my father’s windpipe every passing minute. Good times indeed. Why should I? You left me on ice for how many years? I can’t even...you think I’m a tool to use?
Tony.Smack. The man’s fist struck my face. I saw him wince, but he hid it well. “Get out of here, filth, you don’t belong.” He closed the distance between us again, ready at strike another punch. “Leave” he said, mustering as much authority as he could in his voice. I eyed him. He wore nothing that said he was a mage, but he must have been one, to know I’m human. In any case, racism was still a thing anywhere I went. And it was funny the amount of scorn they had for my kind. Hell, we don’t even know you exist. I smirked and turned back to what I was doing and grabbed the sack filled with fruits. “I’ll be gone as soon as I get what I came here to do.”, I said, acting indifferent to the man, knowing he would get angry and try to hit me again. Well, he would try... “How much is all this?”, I asked the shocked girl that had handed me the bag and flushed when I smiled at her.“I... it&rsquo
X.I narrowed my eyes at Tony as he flew into Ko’vren. He was late, and I was starving. He was most likely chasing some girl all over Le’uthara. Whore, I thought, throwing the Rubik’s cube at his head. “You’re late, like very late.” He caught it with ease and tossed it back. I saw the faint glimmer of happiness in his eyes. I was right, it was a girl. “Sorry, I was...held up" he opened his pocket dimension and threw out a bag of fruits. I was too hungry to care right away and opened the bag. At least he got everything. I stood and went to the kitchen area, picking up a knife and started peeling them. “Did you go out?”, he asked, sitting down and picking up the cube, fiddling with it. “Yeah, uh, Zeus came around again, they wanted a briefing.” I started chopping the fruits that looked suspiciously like apples, but with an orange rind.“What’d you tell them?”, he asked, still fiddling. He had scattered the cube and was already fixing it with intent, brows furrowed
Tony.Today was the day. Everyone was present; the Arch-mages, Zeus, Horus, M’gethir and Míriel beside him. We made eye contact a few times and she smiled at me, although it was a masked one, it was a welcome change from the scowling I usually received when she saw me. As an added surprise, X asked of she could stay on Ko’vren, he mentioned something about needing extra hands on deck and how no one would help. M'gethir suspiciously agreed and Míriel was allowed on-board. X winked at me conspiratorially before going to the back rooms to get 'some stuff' and disappeared, plunging us into awkward silence. X was taking all this better than I expected. But still, damn him for leaving me here alone with her. Surprisingly she spoke first.“Nice ship you got, I didn’t check it out the first time I was here.” I fiddled with some controls, thinking hard of what to say. The words were jumbled up in my head, like as if I had dyslexia, if
Quinn. The space around Willow exploded, giving off a red glow as Willow groaned with exertion, absorbing all the Chaos energy from Tony’s body. Zoi had broken free of his temporal lock, but Willow had the upper hand, pulling with all his might. His nine shards were out if his body, growing larger with every passing second as he kept pulling out the chaos energy. “You fool!”, Zoi cried, clawing at Willow. You have the shard energy in you! Mixing it with chaos energy will undoubtedly tear you apart!” Willow froze for a moment, and Zoi kicked him off. Willow responded with a punch, sending him back a few feet. Zoi released all his remaining chaos energy, rushing at him. “I want my power back, you runt!”“Multiple Thrusts: Hundredfold kicks!”Zoi twisted to the side, barely dodging Quinn’s deadly kicks, jumping back a few meters, straight into Azea. She placed her palm in his spine, releasing a blast of energy.
Azeasthrath.“Zeus? Like the god?”, Azea asked, looking at the white haired grinning man. “Ah, yes. In the flesh.”, he said with a curt bow. “Can we do this after we deal with the main problem?”, Artemis asked, fitting another bow and firing it at Zoi. It exploded into a hundred more arrows but was deflected by a shield, put up by Zoi. “Why am I here?”, Hades asked as he summoned a three headed dog that charged at Zoi, tanking most of his blows and grabbing him with its teeth. It shook him furiously, chomping down on his body. Its head explodes not long after, in a flash of red, as Zoi’s wounds healed immediately he was free. “He’s Zeus.”, she whispered to Willow. “So cool.” Willow just rolled his eyes and continued watching Artemis, his eyes basically swallowing her up. He looked beat up, but fine. The gods had come to their aid at Míriel’s request, just in the nick of time too. So far they were battling Zoi pretty efficiently, and even landing blows on him. Zoi on t
Willow. The ship warped instantly out of the earth’s atmosphere, and eight in the face of the crack, taking them all by surprise. Orion grinned and pressed a button. “This is for Zephyr Prime, you bastards!”, he yelled as cannons emerged from all around the ship. They fired simultaneously in burst shots, killing all harbingers in range. They reacted quickly and started attacking the ship from all sides. “You’re up, guys.”, Orion said, and Quinn pulled out his swords. Willow took a deep breath and brought out one of his shards. He had learnt how to put limiters on himself like Tony. The harbingers were closing in now, exposing Zoi, who sat on a throne far behind his army.“Now!”, Míriel said, and they were teleported into the vacuum of space. Míriel sprouted her wings, and a sword made out of fire. “I don’t have time for this.”, she said, before the sword increased in length, and she swung it furiously in front of herself. The flame sliced through all the harbingers in
Quinn.“You’re kidding.”, he said breathless. They singlehandedly defeated those two? Azea shrugged and sat beside him. She looked tired, be noticed, and tried not to look awkward when she rested her head on his shoulder. “Yeah, it was pretty epic.”, she murmured, half asleep. “But I’m really, really tired.” Quinn relaxed a bit, letting her rest. Willow sat at the other chair opposite them, looking equally tired. “Anything happen while we were gone?”, he asked, slumping down further into the couch. His eyes were already closed, but Quinn knew he was still listening, even if he was barely awake.“The harbingers stopped attacking. They went back the moment you took the Unnamed and Original with you.”, he said, recalling how they had just left immediately, as if controlled by a switch. “We decided to wait for you guys to come back, before continuing our attack.” Willow smiled, eyes still closed. “So you had faith?”, he asked, a smile playing on his lips. Quinn scratched h
Azeasthrath. They both exploded with power, transforming into the monsters they were in the inside. The Original’s hair grew longer and his orbs were pulled into his body. The Unnamed’s mask broke as the orb inside swelled in size and hands started sprouting from it. The Original grew taller and thinner, his limbs extending to the ground. He growled with feral anger and pointed a bony hand at them. “You will die today.”, he said, in an equally ugly voice. The scythe in Willow’s hand disappeared and reformed in the Original’s hand. His face was gone, even his eyes were receding back into his now blank face. He was turning into a Slenderman. The Unnamed was in the sky already, his hands spread out like branches on a tree. Each of the hands held miniature stars, that pulsed and burnt. In a flash, the Original was in front of Azea. He had definitely gotten much stronger. She blocked with a shield and yelled at Willow to stay alive, before he hit her shield. She was flung
Willow. You’re just a bargaining chip. You were created for this purpose only. You are worthless.Willow was lost in thought again, staring through the glass windows of Zephyr Prime. The droids were doing surprisingly well against the harbingers, with their Tachyon cannons and guns, but in some places the stronger harbingers were too hard to beat. He closed his eyes and tried to block the voice in his head that repeated those three lines over and over. He wasn’t useless. He was strong, and he was going to prove it. To the Unnamed, to his friends, and to the world.New wave of harbingers detected, location: Afghanistan mountains.” A screen popped up in front of him, and he could see the harbingers; tall monstrosities walking slowly across the landscape, destroying anything in sight. “Zephyr, warp me to the location.”, Willow said and rolled up his sleeves. “Coordinates confirmed. Initiating warp sequence in three... two...one...” He was going to
Quinn“So we get to Hell, big fiery place, right?”, Quinn sat by the window, eating and telling the others how they managed to get an army. He was still trying to make everyone laugh, since Tony was turned. So far, only Azea seemed to be enjoying the story. “They shot us down immediately we got there, those bastards, they couldn’t even wait. Anyways we crashed and when they came to check the wreckage, Míriel was waiting for them.” He and Míriel glanced at each other before he continued. “She didn’t wait for anyone to explain, and started using them as ping pong balls.” This got a few chuckles out of them, even Míriel.“What happened next?”, Azea laughed, trying not to choke on her beef. Even Willow was grinning a bit. Quinn felt relieved, at least it was working, and they weren’t all depressed. “Well, we went to see Míriel's mother. Wonderful woman, really. She said she couldn’t leave just yet, but, she would help.” He sat back in his chair, sipping on his Sprite. “The
Azeasthrath. She was floating in an endless space. In the far distance, she could see little specks, but they seemed an eternity away. She was one with the subconscious, and it didn’t want her to go. She remembered being strapped down to the beacon, and reaching out to the ocean of Chaos on the other side. She remembered it using her mind as a gate to enter the world, and that’s where she ceased to remember anything. She felt an overwhelming sadness as she drifted, knowing she had probably doomed life as she knew it, all to save Willow. That idiot. She was going to miss him, she was going to miss all of them, and Quinn. She never got to call him old man one last time. The blackness was getting closer, soon she would be consumed and be forgotten.“What are you doing, lying on the floor?” a voice said. She opened her eyes and she was in a field, a large one, surrounded by grassy hills. She could feel the wind on her face, and the grass under her. This wasn’t possible. Sh
Willow. He woke up with a start. His eyes couldn’t focus on anything no matter how much he tried. He sat up, scanning the area. From his limited vision, he saw that he was in some sort of cell. The cell was small, smaller than his room, and its walls were smooth. He could make out runes on the walls that glowed softly. He felt no strength, and came to the conclusion that the runes cancelled his powers somehow, and shut down his Vampiric side. That was why he couldn’t see well. He drifted in and out of consciousness slowly remembering all that had happened. Man, that Original had done a number on him. Then it hit him. Where was Azea?“Azea! Can you hear me?” his voice croaked as he held on to the bars of the cell. The memories were back, and he was fully alert, despite his senses being dulled. “Azea!” he banged the metal, hard causing the sound to echo down the hall. Then he heard something. A soft whisper. Azea’s voice. “I’m here, Willow!”, her voice carried through th
