Haider's words pierced Ameera's heart like daggers. She had hoped for understanding, for empathy, but his anger only intensified her fear. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to find the right words to explain herself.

"I never wanted to harm our child," she choked out, her voice breaking with emotion. "I was scared, Haider, scared of everything that happened before. I thought I was protecting our baby by keeping it a secret until I knew for sure."

Haider's anger seemed to momentarily waver as he saw the pain in her eyes, but he quickly brushed it aside, consumed by his own emotions.

"Protecting? By hiding the truth?" he retorted, his voice still laced with anger. "You think I'm incapable of being a father, of caring for our child?"

Ameera shook her head, her tears flowing freely now. "No, that's not what I meant," she pleaded. "I just needed time to process everything. I wanted to believe in your change, but I needed reassurance."
