“ As a husband, do you feel any sense of obligation? When your spouse is expecting, you should take the greatest care."

Clarence’s face went blank at the barrage of questions. He gripped the chair's armrest firmly. Just before Clarence lost his cool, Joseph noticed that Clarence’s sadness was deepening.

"We are sorry for that, physician. Mr. Conrad’s legs ached. As soon as we saw she was in agony, we brought her in. How is she doing now?"

With his anger released, the doctor felt considerably better and directed his ugly gaze at Clarence.

"She is not in danger at this time. However, she must remain for a few days to be observed."

"Are you saying that her baby is safe as well?" Joseph cautiously enquired.

The doctor furiously asked, "How could you ask such a question that way? You don't want the baby?"

"We certainly do! The fact that the infant is secure is fantastic." Joseph expressed his deep regret. He had trouble using words. The physician raised his fists and walked aw
