“Since when are subordinates allowed to negotiate with their superiors?" Clarence could not wait.

She grated her teeth and gripped her bag, saying, "I could never finish sorting those materials, even if I worked overtime. Is it possible for me to bring them home?"

She had conceded. "No."

Clarence , however, maintained her pose without moving. Stella, what could she say? She believed she could see Riley the following day. Considering this, she walked toward her post without saying anything. She didn't need to persuade anyone—she could work overtime.

Joseph had shoved Clarence out of the way while Stella reclined on her perch. Following his departure, Stella pulled out her cell phone and texted Riley, suggesting that she might stay and that they should get together another day.
