Even though she hadn’t had a bite to eat on set, Charlotte did not feel hungry at all. All she wanted to do was collapse on the bed and have a good nap to digest her sorrow.

Thus, when she walked into the first-floor living room, she didn’t bother looking anywhere else. She simply strode toward the spiral staircase.

“You’re back, Carlie.”

A familiar voice suddenly rang out from her right, further up ahead.

Charlotte wondered if she was imagining things. She followed the voice and saw Jackson sitting on the couch. Her knees buckled from fright. “Jackie, is it really you?”

“Of course it’s me, Carlie. We met yesterday at Tiffany’s wedding too. It’s only been 20 hours. Have you forgotten me already?”

Charlotte’s hair stood on end when she heard his voice so clearly and saw him standing up from the couch and walking toward her. Her face was drained of color.

“Jackie…”

She had no idea how she managed to speak.
