Chapter 6

CHARLOTTE SMITH

After bringing coffee to Mr. Angry, he sent me back to my office like a scolded dog. Pouting, I began to read the schedule he had given me.

I knew everything he had planned to do for the day, it said here that he had a meeting in two minutes. I ran out of my office to go into his, but when I came out I couldn't find him.

I came out and found Diana at her desk.

"Diana, have you seen Mr. Wilson? "I was scared, how about missing that meeting and I was to blame for not remembering him?

"He left, he said to cancel all his meetings today.

I expelled the pent-up air and nodded my head before turning and walking back to my office. My gaze flew to the next door where I had seen Adonis enter.

I made my way to his door and knocked lightly on the door.

"Come in. " was heard in the background, I opened the door and stepped inside. The office was just as big only everything was different, the colors, the styles and there were even boxes.

"Hello," I said sighing.

"Hi, what brings you here?" he said smiling and getting up from his desk.

"I wanted to ask, will the Hater that one still is like that or was it just an act to show who's boss? Because I don't like him.

"He'll always be like that, have a seat, and let's talk.

I sat down in one of his two chairs in front of him and smiled, I liked him much more than that Wilson guy.

"I want to know something Charlotte, and it's a very delicate subject.

"Ask me quietly.

"Were you the woman who came to his apartment the other night?

Did everyone know about our event? Shit, I must hide it, they can't know it was me who was the intruder.

"No, I have no idea what you and Mr. Wilson want to know.

I shrugged firmly in my word, showing me sure was my biggest goal.

"Sure?

"Yes.

"If it was you or If you're sure it wasn't you?

"It wasn't me.

"Are you telling me the truth?

"Yes, I am.

"You're not lying to me?

"No.

"Are you sure?

"Yes!

"What are you sure about?

"That I didn't go to her apartment that night.

"Are you sure?

"Yes!

"You're not lying to me?

"Yes!

"If what? Are you lying to me? " Adonis smiled because he had won, pun intended.

"Well! You just found out and now? Am I going to get kicked out of here? Because if so, I'd rather quit.

I angrily got up from his desk and advanced toward the door.

"Stop! What makes you think I'm going to tell him it was you?

"I don't know, you're his best friend.

I shrugged, it was logical, he would tell him and I would get fired. I smacked my forehead for falling for his game of questions.

"I won't tell him, I'm on your side.

"In exchange for what? "I asked turning around with narrowed eyes.

"He hasn't decided yet, but rest assured it won't be hard.

I analyzed him for several minutes. He didn't look so bad compared to Mr. Wilson, so I nodded.

"Thank you. I don't want him to know.

"Why? "he questioned with his confused look.

"Because we kissed You know how awkward our situation would get? Adonis, a little more and he would have made me his in his...

I kept quiet so as not to give him any more details of what happened.

"And it wouldn't be rape because you wouldn't object, Sure.

"What am I supposed to do? My boss is fucking cute and he kissed me out of the blue, I couldn't pull away from the start.

"It's ok Charlotte, I won't say anything, you can go on with your lie, but remember the truth always comes out, sooner or later.

Having said that, I nodded my head, I know Adonis is on my side and he wouldn't say anything, for now.

Incoming call on the intercom.

"Oh no, Grumpy is here already, this is his office number.

He just said that and my skin completely bristled, that man had all the power over me and I was getting very nervous.

I showed Adonis with my hands that I would be quiet while he answered.

"Hello?

"Tell the Miss to get back to her post right now.

He just said that and cut the call.

"You heard him, our talk time is over.

"Yes. "I sigh heavily. "I'll see you.

I walked out of his office but not before waving goodbye, I don't know why I didn't apply to be Adonis' assistant instead of that ape.

I opened the door to his office slowly, walked in, and closed it behind me, our gazes connected, but I ducked my head.

"This is your office, I don't want to see you socializing outside of it.

"Why not? "I asked with a frown.

"How?" he asked raising his eyebrow at me and it was there that I realized how I had answered him.

"Nothing. "I smiled hypocritically. "Excuse me. " I said and slowly turned around walking back to my desk. "Muttley. "I whispered as quietly as I could, but I guess it wasn't enough.

"What the fuck did he say? "he suddenly dropped what he had in his hands and sat up straight in his chair.

"Nothing, "I said still with my back turned because I couldn't close my big mouth.

"Listen to me very well, you will do only what I tell you, you will obey me or you lose the job. I don't want any jokes or giggles with Mr. Hills, understood?

"Yes sir, excuse me.

With that said I advanced to my little office locking myself in, what a complete idiot. I threw his schedule on the desk and reluctantly sat down in my chair.

I snorted and swung my legs over the armrest of the chair. I was tired and my manners had gone to the trash, surely I was in a skirt, but I didn't care.

What do you think you're doing? I should get a pay raise for having to put up with her grumpiness. I threw my head back in a weary gesture, this man was a pain in the ass.

I closed my eyes for a moment, but suddenly I felt someone looking at me, I opened my eyes and felt like I almost choked on my saliva.

"Miss Smith I remind you that you are not at home.

I quickly lowered my legs and fixed my attire, my cheeks were red and my face was burning.

"Excuse me sir I was just...

"Little do I care, not to be repeated. If you haven't seen my schedule please do so, that's what I pay you for, in five minutes I have a very important meeting".

He left my office at a determined pace, I let out all the contained air. Don't let that happen again, that's what I should tell him for entering my office without knocking, rude.

I rolled my eyes and grumbled and took his schedule in my hands, it was true, I had a meeting in five minutes in the conference room.

I pouted several times until his voice interrupted me again.

"Are you pouting?

"Uh...no, sir.

Shit, I should make sure he's not there so I can make my typical disgusted faces.

"Move along please or you forget that you'll have to accompany me to my meetings and take notes.

He raised an eyebrow in my direction, and fuck, I froze. His face was a beautiful masterpiece, blessed are the parents who created this man, by God. His blue eyes looked at me with confusion as I was frozen watching him. I could kiss him again and I wouldn't regret it, maybe I would lose my job, but it would be worth it, that was for sure.

"Miss Smith, I don't have your time.

His voice snapped me out of my thoughts, fuck, I have to stop fantasizing about him with my mouth open and drooling.

"Right now Sir.

He didn't wait for me, so I had to rush out after him, I was sure he didn't look at me behind such a man. His body was big and muscular, I was small.

I followed him until I reached the conference room, he opened the door and walked in, and I, with my hands loaded with his schedules and notes, could not hold the door. I tried to open it with my foot, but I staggered so I better let it close.

I sighed in frustration as this man has no small amount of chivalry.

"I help you.

Adonis' voice made me smile.

"Thank you.

Adonis held the door for me and smiled one last time until I went inside to find Mr. Wilson.

The room was full of men at a table voicing their opinions, my smile was quickly wiped away as I noticed the Hater's eyes on me and Adonis.

He shook his head and turned his attention back to the other men at the table.

What did I do wrong?
