As I stared at Jacob, I sighed, realizing that he was right, and mumbled, "You were right the other day we met?"

A look of confusion crossed Jacob's face, and he kept gazing into my eyes for a while.

Then his eyes widened, and he mumbled, "Atlas shot his shot?"

"Yeah," I mumbled, feeling embarrassed not because I felt drunk, but because of the way, he said it.

"You and he?"

"Are date,"

Shrugging my shoulders, I tilted my head and mumbled, "Well, we were dating."

"Lilith, you bad bitch!" Jacob said, smirking at me. "Wait, were?"

Atlas shouted, his voice shaky with fear.At that moment, he elbowed me in my face, and after my grip loosened on him a bit, he turned around, and that's when I saw the gun in his hand."Oh my, he has a weapon!" Miles yelled, sounding so bogus than a terrible actor.Ignoring the pain in his chin, the blood seeping from the cut in my ski

********Atlas POV******* The gate automatically opened, and I drove my black SUV into an artistic yard. Once the vehicle stopped, I got down from the car and walked over to Aria, and waited for her to shut the door before taking her hand in mine and exciting her to the villa. After entering the house, we were about to head upstairs when I saw Victor walking down the stairs, approaching us from the opposite direction. “Atlas!” Victor mumbled, walking towards me. When he reached the last stair, he frowned and asked, “Why are you holding her hand like you guys are some kind of a couple.”

When my uncles left the office, I paced back and forth in the room, unable to restrain the feeling of anxiousness coursing through me. Nothing was adding up, and everything wasn't making sense, and now that Uncle Miles was gone too and Aria and I got attacked yesterday, my feeling of fear was at maximum level. After walking about the room like some madman, I finally took a seat behind my desk and stared blankly at the ceiling. Suddenly, my phone started vibrating, and I pulled it out of my coat pocket, staring at Aria's name blinking on the screen. Immediately, I answered the call and rested the phone against my ear, listening as she said, "Good morning, Mr. Ghost. Can you tell me why I woke up to an empty bed?" It took me a moment to process those words because, with everything that had happened, my mind was a bit disturbed. Letting out a sigh, I rested back on my seat and shut my eyes before mumbling, "I'm sorry. I had to get to the office and the news that I met here isn't go

Staring at Mr. Shadow, I didn't need to ask how they knew that Atlas and I were together. One billion dollars, of course, Jacob will sell me out for such an amount. No matter the years of memories we had shared for most of our careers at the organizations, money still beat that, and that's why it's the root of all evil. "Why are you not saying anything, Lilith?" Mr. Shadow asked, his face hardened into a frown. What was I supposed to say, lie about my relationship with Atlas in hopes that it would save me from getting kicked off the mission and possibly stop me from losing my job? Even if I cry a river of tears and Mr. Shadow somehow believes my lie, what would be my excuse for leaving the mission later on since Victor has already threatened me? At this point, I was trapped without any escape plan. I could not keep working on the mission or stay with Atlas because of Victor, and if I forced it and he told on me, the organization and Atlas would be at risk. My hands were tied, an

The moment I got to the mansion and inside my room, I took my suitcase out of the closet and laid it on the floor. Then I started stuffing all my things in it, crying my eyes out as the suffocating feeling that I felt grew intense and unbearable. It was heartbreaking to say the very least that this was how our story ended, and yet, this ending was known to me from the moment I felt my heart beat for Atlas. Suddenly, my room door opened, and I was surprised to see Atlas walk into the room, his face calm as he stared back at me. Neglecting to pack my suitcase, I stood from the floor and approached him, swallowing hard when our eyes locked. After looking into my eyes, he grabbed onto my waist, pulled me against him, and tenderly caressed his fingers against my cheek. For a moment, just for a minute, I felt a sense of calmness as I drowned in the comfort that his embrace gave me. “You are packing? Where are you going?" Atlas whispered, gazing deep into my eyes. "Or are you just plan

His uncles shifted uncomfortably, clearly taken aback by Atlas's confident demeanor. Then Alex cleared his throat. "We'll be going now," he said stiffly."Right. "The court is about to begin! Everyone, please take your seats!" announced the bailiff, breaking the tense silence in the room.Atlas squared his shoulders, exchanging a glance with me. I could sense the weight of stress and the complexity of emotions swirling around him. We moved past Alex, Atlas went to the front with Wilson, and I sat on the bench with Tony and Victor. The two took my hand in theirs, and I smiled at them, feeling a bit less tense. The room fell silent as everyone settled into their seats, awaiting the start of the proceedings. As the judge entered and took his place at the bench, the courtroom hushed even further. Atlas walked in with Mr. Wilson, his lawyer, and Tony by his side. His presence seemed to fill the room with a sense of dangerous aura."Who hired you two morons?" Lilith's POVThe was this continued beeping sound ringing in my ears, and I squeezed my eyes.Suddenly, I sucked in a deep breath and then jumped up, screaming, "Atlas?!""Hold her down. The anesthesia has worn off." Dr. Ling said, and I gazed around to see that I was in a hospital room."What... what's going on?" I managed to ask out, still not quite awake, my head feeling foggy like it was covered in cotton wool.Dr. Ling began while walking towards me. "Well, you got shot in the arm and punched in the face. You suffered a serious concussion and you had minor surgery to remove your arm." "Where... Where is Atlas?" I mumbled, my memories a bit hazy with sleep, but I forced myself to focus."The detectives are waiting outside. They had been for a while, waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. They can better answer your question... But are you mentally ready to talk to them?" I nodded, trying to gather my thoughts as much as possible, feeling more aware now as my memories became

Looking away from Tony, I started around the room, and called out, "Lilith... Lilith! You in here?!"When I got no reply, my heart pounded as I realized Lilith was gone. "Tony, where is she?" I demanded, fear tightening my chest. His eyes widened, mirroring my panic. "I thought she was right here with us," he said, shaking his head. "How come-"Without a second thought, I dashed out of the apartment. The hallway stretched endlessly ahead."Lilith!!" I called out, my voice echoing off the walls. When I got silent in response, I reached for my phone, dialed her number, and listened desperately for any sound that might lead me to her. Then, in the distance, her ringtone cut through the air. I sprinted towards it, each step burning in my chest. As I reached the further end of the hallway, there she was... a shadow in the dim light, and then my eyes caught sight of Mitch turning around to face me."Atlas, get down!" Lilith screamed. At the sound of her voice, I dropped without hesitati

An hour later, I was seated by Atlas in the backseat of his car with Tony driving the car. The address Linda had given us led us to a modest apartment complex with faded paint and overgrown weeds. As we approached the building, Atlas’s hand found mine, offering a comforting squeeze."We’ll stay in touch through the comms," Tony said, breaking the silence. "If anything goes wrong, we’ll be there in seconds."I took a deep breath and squeezed Atlas's hand back, trying to steady my nerves. The apartment complex ahead looked rundown, with peeling paint and cracked sidewalks. It felt like the kind of place where someone could easily disappear into the shadows."Got it," I replied, my voice steady despite the tension. Both Atlas and I got out of the car, and Tony parked it a little further down the street to keep a low profile. The building loomed before us, and Atlas kept close to me as we approached the entrance, his presence a reassuring anchor."We’ll head up to the apartment on the th
