Jo’s POV

I got to the City Court ten minutes before my meeting with judge Quinn. I am trying to look confident but my anxiety is acting up.

As I stepped outside the elevator, my heart skipped a beat, this is

where everything started. With just a simple smile, Alex marked my heart. I smiled for a second thinking about him, how I wish he could hold me even for a second.

There are many people rushing along the hallway and I hope my wish becomes reality. Poor heart, Alex marked it as his the eternity.

I entered the restroom so I can have my ritual. Washing my hands really calms my nerves.

I smiled at the blonde in the mirror as I fixed my clothes. I look professional with my hair tight in a bun. I wear black high waist w

I thought Damien last name was Brown and Matt wrote the contract. I shook my head and try to clear my mind when another line doesn’t give me peace “You must’ve impressed Him”. I opened the folder with the new contract and I sign it quickly. At least I’ve got what I came for. I exit the room using the door, the Judge pointed earlier to find myself in the secretary office. Jo’s POV “Sweetheart, you look tired” Alex said kissing the back of my palm. “What’s going on?” He asked me softly. “ I am fine. I just can’t believe you’re here” I mumbled not looking at him. I can’t look at him, I feel like I am dreaming and I don’t want to wake up. I wished all day to see him to have his arms around me and now he is finally here. My heart is happy. “Of course I am here” he said kissing me softly. I am sorry, I wanted to be here sooner but I got stuck in the middle of a trial. Are you hungry, let’s order something” he said before waiving at the waitress. “How was the meeting with Judge Quinn?” Alex said curiously. “You just go ahead and order if you want something, I had lunch with Judge Quinn” I said and Alex looked at me surprised. “It was the only time he was

Carter asked me curiously pointing to his black Corvette. “No, that’s okay, I have my car parked across the street” I told him softly. Probably women go wild when they see his new expensive car. “You have your car parked at the City Court?” Carter asked me surp

Jo’s POV It’s been three days since Alex walked away from me in the coffee shop and I met Carter. By the time I got to the office Tuesday, all my ideas of making Alex jealous, seemed immature and I am not that type of person. I don’t know how to play dirty. I don’t know how to make myself available and flirt shamelessly. I never called him Carter either, I just buried myself in work, that’s what I know that’s where I shine. Work, work, work it’s my mantra. I sighed for the nth time. That’s my life. Today all four attorney companies are going to interview my senior accountants and choose the perfect people who are going to work with. Everything was planned and prepared until the last detail for today, nothing was left out. “Jo, everything

Jo’s POV I took a deep breath and instead of closing the door I just went straight inside. Both Alex and the redhead, who was in his arms kissing the life out of him, got surprised of my boldness. I can see an amused sparkle in his eyes. Alex was leaning towards his desk with his white shirt unbuttoned, while the curly redhead was in her black lace underwear while her clothes are scattered around the floor. “ Get dressed and get out” I said with a stern voice to the redhead who was looking at me annoyed. “I said GET DRESSED AND GET OUT “ I barked at her. She looked at Alex, who nodded his head, approving my command. A smile appeared for a second on his face while the woman grabbed her clothes and started dressing. I could see Alex’s eyes c

Jo’s POV “What’s going to be?” He whispered softly in my ear, playing with my zipper. I can feel he is restless, he is holding himself back not to take off my dress. “ So…if I stay I’ll be your second choice…If I go I’ll be nothing” my words come out surprising us both. I guess next time he better stay quiet. “Nothing …just like I was before I got here” I continued this time looking at him. For a moment my mind went back to the first night we met, when he took me home…how he promised me a first date…how he told me that I deserved to be spoiled. I am fighting my tears while I am searching for a clue in his eyes, a clue about how he feels about me, but there isn’t any, no love, no lust, no desire not even hate. Why I am so stupid? What the fuck is wrong with me?

  • The Butterfly Effect    Chapter 34

Jo’s POV I finally got home with not to much time to spare. After leaving Alex office I had four more meetings with clients who wanted to be sure their accounts would not be neglected because of the Court Partnership. I was getting ready to leave when I got the emails from the lawyers informing me about their selection. I smile reading the email is exactly how I imagined the teams. My biggest surprise came from Alex, who emailed me his own choices. My name is on top of the list, then Jordan’s name and Ashley’s. Jordan was my obvious choice, because he is good, I am happy that we get to work together, but when it comes to Ashley, I have my own concerns. Ashley was not on my list of people to work with. I mean she is smart and she does her job great, it’s just she’s single, attractive and n

Jo’s POV We got to the car in no time and Alex started driving to an unknown destination. I am curious to see what he has in mind for tonight. “So Sweetheart what is you want to know about me?” Alex asked me suddenly and I don’t know what is the first thing I want to know. “Why do you always send me white roses” I hear myself saying. It’s not something personal and I do have other questions, but let’s start with an easy one. Alex looks at me surprised, I don’t think that was something he ever thought I was going to ask him. “Well because I read an article about you and you stated that white roses were your favorite flowers. I was trying to impress you, did that work?” He said smiling. “Yeah actually it

Jo’s POV I woke up before sunrise just to look at my beautiful sleeping man. I can’t be more thankful, Alex gave me what I always wanted: a big loving family and four beautiful children. I place a small kiss on his face before slipping off his embrace. It’s weird how much I still love him. After all these years I love him more and more every day. I closed the door trying to not make too much noise and I headed to the kitchen. There were too many things to do and I wanted to go ahead and do them so I could spend time with my babies. I know they are all grown ups but I still see them as babies. I passed Sebastien's door and I stopped for a moment. I will never forget the moment I found him sleeping in the school shack almost frozen. He wrapped his hands around my neck and said “mommy you came”. Me and Alex fought the system and got him, I was about to go and bribe everyone just to give me Sebastien. In a way, Sebastien

Jo’s POV Two days have passed since I received the subpoena stating that I was a witness in an ongoing investigation on Alex Montgomery. After going to Alex’s office I told him that it was best not to see each other until we figured out what the investigation was about. At first Alex didn’t agree but he knew this was for the best. You can fight something you have no information about. This morning Damien called me and told me that some Court Officials came to Alex’s apartment and escorted to the City Court where the investigation took place. So here I was, checking my wristwatch while walking on the City Court hallways. I took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. I already know what I have to do. I went to the restroom and washed my hands thoroughly like I always do, going through the plan I have in my head ma

We ended up calling it “The Butterfly from Jackson vineyards” Alex was supportive, caring and everything I wanted. He looked worried so I smiled trying not to think about my parents anymore. “Hmm mmm” I hummed relaxing under his touch. His hands were rubbing slowly my feet taking away the pain. “What happened earlier? I saw you talking with your parents” Alex asked me again. “Nothing, really. My parents apologized, they want us to be a family” I replied shrugging my shoulders. “How do you feel about that?” Alex’s eyes searched mine trying to figure out what was happening in my mind. “I don’t know,” I replied, exhausted, layi
