Once upon a time, in the continent of Larin, there stood the powerful Kingdom of Sora. The kingdom was famous around the continent for its enormous colony. Aside from that, thousands of powerful mages resided in the kingdom and governed the commoners. Even the king himself, Roderick IV, was a powerful archmage.
But despite the prosperity of the Kingdom of Sora, the cruelty and abuse among the commoners could never be ignored.
Even way before the reign of Roderick IV, the citizens of the Kingdom of Sora suffered from the maltreatment of the mages. Men were forced to mine on the dangerous mountains, women were sold as slaves, the elderly were captured to become the offerings for the vicious beasts, and children were abducted and became the subjects for the mages' experiments.
For hundreds of years, the commoners prayed to the gods to save them from the torment that they were in. Until they lost hope that they could ever escape from their misery.
However, one day, among the commoners, there was a boy who was born to had unusual yellow jeweled eyes. His eyes were sparkling as if it's made of diamonds that even the mages took an interest in him.
The boy was frightened as he was aware of the nightmare that he would face once he was caught by the mages. He trembled on his knees while he begged to be spared at the five mages who looked at him in mockery.
"Heh, a little kid like you dared to reject the opportunity to work on the tower? There were a lot of people who were begging us to accept them. Yet you, a tiny street rat, had the nerve to object?" The mage sneered as he kicked the boy on his head.
"Y-your excellency, I. I beg you… spare me. Please spare me." The boy wept as he bowed his head to the ground. Although his head was hurt from the kick, he tried harder to beg for the mages.
Work on the tower? Who among the Kingdom of Sora did not know that the mages wanted him because of his unusual eyes?
Curse. He felt that his eyes were cursed. If only his eyes weren't jeweled like everyone claims. If only his eyes did not capture the interest of the mages. Maybe, just maybe, he could flee to the mountains and live by himself through hunting or farming. Unfortunately, those were only his wishful thoughts.
The boy cried in bitterness. Was this the end for him?
He could not reconcile. He hadn't taken vengeance for his mother yet! His mother was ruthlessly killed just because she gave birth to a bastard of a high mage.
But was it his mother's fault that she was coerced to become a slave at a young age? His mother… his mother was too young. She was only nineteen yet she already had a seven-year-old son.
At her age, the female nobles were still studying to become a mage. Alas, his mother was not a noble, but just a commoner bore from a prostitute.
The boy's body shook as he felt his emotions went haywire. The grief, anger, and hatred that he felt even as a child could not withstand the strong emotions that he had.
"Just drag this rat to the tower. Who cares? It's not as if Sir Henry would care about this bastard." The mage said as he glimpsed at the boy in disdain. The other mages agreed in unison and the shortest among them stepped forward to grab the boy.
"Kid, it's your fortune to be the bastard of Sir Henry. You can die without regrets."
The boy clenched his tiny fist as he heard what the mage said. Fortune? He sneered at the rubbish thing the mage uttered. So what if his father was the respected Royal Magician of King Roderick IV? Wasn't he the same person who ordered to kill his mother just because she gave birth to his bastard child?
Bastard… Bastard…
No, I was not a bastard.
"D-don't come near me." He said as his tiny fist shook from intense hatred.
The mage clicked his tongue in annoyance, "This kid had the guts, huh? Let's see where this guts of yours could take you." He said as he grabbed the boy's thin arms.
"I said don't come near me!"
The moment the boy shouted, a huge amount of mana exploded and surrounded his thin and frail body. He now stood while he glared with hatred at the five mages who were now a hundred steps away from him as they were caught in the explosion of mana. The mage who grabbed the boy's arm screamed as his hand had burnt with golden flames. He tried so hard to use his mana to dispel the flames but unfortunately, it was all for naught. Moreover, he discovered that the more he used his mana, the more the flames burnt his hand.
"You… how the hell have you done this?" The mages were astonished as they saw the huge amount of mana the boy had. It was the first time they saw this powerful mana. Even the strongest mage in the kingdom, King Roderick IV, didn't have this terrifying amount of mana.
"Lorenzo." The boy said as he stared at the mages in hatred. The latter was confused as what the former said.
"My name is Lorenzo." The boy continued, "and I would be the one who would annihilate the mages in the Kingdom of Sora!"
Lorenzo stood outside the Imperial Capital. The commoners behind him gawked at the situation inside the capital without a blink, afraid that they would miss even a single moment.
The Imperial Capital of the Kingdom of Sora, which stood in the center of the Larin Continent, was continuously buried by the thousands of lightning that fell from the sky. The mages and nobles, who were inside the enormous city were now trapped with nowhere to go, together with their beloved king.
"Bastard! I'll kill you! I would kill you!" Henry shrieked as he tried to run outside the city but unfortunately, even if the gates were broken, there was a barrier that trapped everyone inside.
Lorenzo looked at him without expression. He looked forward to met him as he had thousands of words to say how much he hated him. But as he saw Henry in his wretched state, screamed obscenities while he knelt on the ground as he lost his right leg that was struck by a lightning, he could not manage to open his mouth. Instead, he just stared at him until he was struck by the lightning to death.
After five hours of an intense lightning storm, the skies became clear. And the once-prosperous Imperial Capital of the Kingdom of Sora was now buried in ruins.
The commoners were still unable to believe that the ones who oppressed them were now dead. They didn't know who was the one who started to bawl but by this, everyone was awoken by the stupor. Then, they all cried in bitterness and relief as they felt the freedom they longed for. Some of them knelt while they cried, some hugged their families, and some laughed and shouted while tears streamed from their eyes.
Lorenzo glanced at them but still did not said anything. He lowered his head and clenched his tiny fist. Minutes passed and he quietly left the crowd of people who were rejoicing.
When the crowd started to look for the child who freed them from oppression, he was now nowhere to found.
Many years passed by, but the legend of the yellow jeweled eye boy that saved the commoners from the oppression of the tyrants of the Kingdom of Sora had circulated throughout the entire continent. Some believed it, some only took it as a joke. However, the fact that the Kingdom of Sora was fallen could not be disregarded.
And the one who led the fall of the great kingdom had never been seen since then.
"Class dismissed."
When Minerva heard what their teacher said, she hastily closed the book she read and arranged her things. Her classmates did the same thing. Even some of them were outside the classroom.
"Come on! I heard that Zoe released her new song! The song was fantastic that even Peter Oakley praised it!"
"Yes, I also heard it! I told you, Zoe was an amazing singer! She even managed to capture the interest of the famous producer!"
"Of course! She just did not have an amazing voice, she also composed the song and wrote the lyrics! Oh, how I wish I could be as talented as her!"
Minerva swiftly held her bag and left the classroom without an expression. Her footsteps were heavy and even her fist was clenched tightly. Still, she refused to show any ounce of emotion.
"Zoe Rein's latest song 'Autumn Leaves' topped the music chart 2 hours after it was released."
"Peter Oakley praised Zoe Rein's "Autumn Leaves", was a future collaboration about to happen?"
The rain started to pour. Minerva opened her umbrella and crossed the road. She raised the volume of the song she listened to and quietly blended on the group of people.
A few minutes later, she arrived at the apartment she lived in. She heaved a heavy sigh as she found the comfort that she sought while she was in school.
"It felt good to be home." She muttered. At least when she was home, she could breathe a bit better.
Minerva hastily changed her clothes and laid on her bed; quietly hoped that she would fall asleep quickly.
Minerva sighed and had a tiny smile on her lips as she fell asleep. And now that she was dreaming, she saw the silhouette of a guy that would appear in her dreams.
While Minerva slept, what she did not know was that the left hand that was placed above her pillow suddenly emits a strange pattern with a pale blue light.
If she was awake, she would be shocked. As the strange pattern that appeared on her left hand was also the same as the pattern on the book cover she read earlier.
And just like her left hand, it also emits a pale blue light.
Two thousand eight hundred years after the legend of Lorenzo resonated on the entire Larin Continent, numerous kingdoms rose and fell. Wars broke out, small kingdoms were conquered, and thousands to millions of people were killed. While the disaster happened, the nobles' lives remain unaffected. However, it was different from the commoners as they were the ones that were affected the most in the recurring crisis. With the circumstance they were in, the commoners clung to their hope that the legend of Lorenzo was true. That one day, Lorenzo would appear and save them from despair, just like what he did on the fallen Kingdom of Sora.Unfortunately, the reality was often cruel. The current king of the Moren Empire, the Larin Continent's most powerful empire, was aware of the commoners' thoughts. But he did not mind; since for him, they were just disposable pieces.King Benedict IX, the
Minerva tried to put her hand on her face out of habit. But she recalled that the current her did not have any arm and wrist strength. So, she decided to recline her small body and stare at the wide ceiling.'Wow, even the ceiling was beautiful.' She thought as she admired the pretty butterflies that were drawn on the ceiling.'It was inclined to my taste. Not bad! Not bad!' She praised as she nodded her head. But she soon stopped as she felt dizzy.'Seriously living inside the body of a baby was troublesome!' Minerva thought in annoyance."Good morning, Little Miss!" Shirley greeted as soon as she saw her."Baa boo ah bah!" Quick, finish the book that you read yesterday! I wanted to know what happened!"Aww. Was our Little Miss hungry? Alright, alright let's wait for Elise, okay?" Shirley cooed as she rubbed her back."Woooo! Ah bah bah!" No! I wa
"The Little Miss was alright. She just felt ecstatic. You did not need to worry anymore." The physician said after she checked Minerva numerous times to made sure that she was really alright."Then, thank you and sorry for the trouble," Shirley said to the physician. On the other hand, Elise heaved a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that their Little Miss was alright. The two of them just chatted while they glanced at the painting of Princess Lianna when suddenly, the Little Miss started to shiver as she stared into the air. Shirley and Elise, and even the knights, fell into disruption as they wondered what occurred in the sudden condition of the Little Miss.If anything bad would have happened to her, they knew the consequence they would face once His Grace found out–and that would not be a simple one for them. When Minerva snapped out from her thoughts, she found herself back inside her cha
Minerva's eyes shone in delight as she saw the butterfly garden with her own eyes. The garden was huge and there was a variety of flowers in different colors which made the garden looked lovely and vibrant. Moreover, there were also topiaries of different colored butterflies. In the middle of the garden was a huge fountain that has a statue of butterflies that formed into a circle. Then in the center of the butterflies was a crystal sphere. The pathway was made of white stones that have tiny butterflies designed. On the left side were benches that have butterflies printed on them. Also, on the right side was a huge greenhouse. Finally, the butterflies that Minerva adored gracefully flapped their wings as they danced into the flowers.Minerva let out an awestruck sigh as she was extremely captivated by the beautiful scenery.'This… was made for me?'
Minerva yawned. She was carried by Shirley all along but she felt tired that she wanted to sleep.Although she fell asleep in the afternoon, she still felt sleepy. The door suddenly opened and Cassie went inside. Right, it was already nighttime. Cassie would have to lull her to sleep like she always did.She yawned once again and Cassie smiled a little.Seriously, Cassie was too pretty especially when she smiled. Most of the time she would look serious and strict. She remembered that Shirley would sometimes tell Elise how she was intimidated by Cassie. Minerva hoped that Cassie would smile often as it suited her.If Shirley saw Cassie smiled, she would surely gape in shock. Before Cassie could start to sing, they heard a knock on the door. Cassie furrowed her brows. Then, Minerva became confused when she was instantly carried by Cassie in her arms.
Lorenzo…He was the first-ever jeweled eye possessor. There were tons of legends that surrounded him. Whether it was about his life or the deeds that he had done, it had circulated the Larin Continent, as per Shirley. However, she did not expect that she could see this famed person right in front of her.In the books, they described Lorenzo as a gentle and kind man that lived in solitude. He achieved his dream to live in the mountains away from the people.A lot of people tried to find where Lorenzo resided. However, they still could not find it no matter what. Until they decided to give up as they knew that it was all for naught. After all, Lorenzo was a known powerful archmage. He might have used concealment magic for his home to prevent from being disturbed.During the war with the devils that happened every hundred years, he would always stand as the vanguard. He slaughter
"Seriously Santi, was this how you talk to your child? You talked as if she was your subordinate!" Lorenzo rebuked him as he was baffled by his friend. "What do you know? Get lost." "Wow, so much for thanks." Minerva looked at Lorenzo and to the stone that he held. She also peeked at Cassie whose lips were pursed as if she had tried to suppress her laugh. As she observed, Lorenzo, and her so-called father which was Santi, were close enough to exchange banters. But she wouldn’t expect that they would be this close. And her ‘father’ was even a bit rude to Lorenzo. ‘Well, this was the banter between friends, I guess? This was what I read in the novels.' Still, she didn't expect that they would be this close. She was already in disbelief when Lorenzo appeared and saved them. Minerva did not expect that her 'father' would ask a favor of him.
Minerva hugged the plushie as she stared at the ceiling in her chambers. Because of what happened last night, she decided to not go outside for today. She did not want Cassie and the others to be worried. Besides, she was also afraid of what transpired. Although she looked distracted when she heard her father last night, it still wouldn't change the fact that she almost lost her life at the hands of the king’s henchmen. Even Cassie got injured. It was a good thing that Lorenzo appeared and saved them; albeit a bit late. Right, about Cassie, she heard from Shirley that she and Julia were extremely busy as they did the "clean-up" that her father mentioned. Seriously, Shirley had the gossip that she needed. If she wanted to know something, it was better to ask Shirley as she knew a lot of things. Unfortunately, she was incapable to utter coherent words as of now as she was in the body of a child. At most, she could only blabber some nonsense and pointed things i
"Minnie?"Minerva snapped back from her thoughts as soon as she saw Marcus waving his hand in front of her. She was too lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that he was calling her name."Oh, you were finally back from thinking deeply. Seriously, Minnie, you were the only one I knew that would often daze even in the middle of a tense conversation. Sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder what was running on your mind." Marcus said as his right cheek rested on his palm and looked at him with unmasked curiosity.Minerva scoffed and smacked his arm, which she often did to him."Shut up." She rolled her eyes, "And what was that about what was running on my mind? Seriously, Marcus, if you only knew, you wouldn't have wished to know."Of course, she was only joking. But Minerva didn't want to entertain Marcus anymore with this topic hence she ended this
"Do you perhaps understand this language?" Minerva asked. Marcus raised his head to look at her."Kind of. I was still studying that language but I don't have enough time. There were words and phrases that didn't make sense for me so I decided to take that books when I return home." He answered, "But if you wanted that book, you could borrow that before me.""I see." She muttered as she caressed the book."This language was rare. How did you learn about this?""Oh, that." Marcus knitted his brows as if he was recalling, "He had books that had the same language as that on his private library. I was curious about the book hence I asked him to teach me how to read that language. Although father didn't personally teach me how, he instead gave me an old book that teach how to read that language." He paused and looked at her, "Why, did you want to learn that language?"Minerva pursed her l

"Where did you get these books?" Minerva asked Marcus who was crouching down on the floor. Piles of books surrounded him as he reclined his back on the couch. There was a throw pillow on his lap while above it was an opened book. She didn't want to disturb Marcus. Minerva wanted to quietly sit in front of him as he looked too immerse on what he was reading. But as soon as she saw the title of the books that was piled up, words subconsciously blurted out on her mouth. And before she could react, she had already questioned him."Oh?" Marcus raised his head and looked at her, "Which of these?""Those at the back." She answered as she pointed at the four piled up thick books who obviously looked worn out."Oh. I found that inside the box at the library's storage room. It was interesting hence I took it." Marcus nonchalantly answered. As he looked at Minerva who had a complicated look at the old books, he
"Dad, I heard that the faculty wanted to talk to you." Minerva said in a small voice once she managed to connect the communication device to her father.Although he admonished her earlier and they already made up, Minerva still spoke carefully at her father in case that his mood hadn't dampen yet."I see. I'd talk to them later." Her father answered which made Minerva hummed. She didn't know what to say next and it seemed that her father had felt her discomfort as he sighed."I'll just finish my things first and I'd head there. Take care, okay?""Yes, dad. You too."Minerva watched as the light of the stone began to wane until it appeared to be a common rock. She placed the stone on the table and sighed."Chill out. Nothing would happen to your father. The faculty were obviously just followed the protocols as Master had breached it. At most, he would need to compens
Minerva was looking at the window on her bedroom. She sat on the chair and leaned her body to the desk. Her right cheek rested on her right palm as she gazed outside. However, although she looked like busy admiring the chipping birds on the tree and the clear blue sky, she was actually immersed on her thought. Her father had already left after he talked to Claire and the board of directors. Although Minerva wanted to follow, her father had forbid her to do so. He also said that she didn't need to meet the board of directors when it wasn't necessary. And if they insisted, her father would make sure that they'd understand what "no" meant.Minerva couldn't help but let out a sigh. Her father didn't reprimand her for strolling around the academy. But since Zinnia hadn't returned yet and Marcus was nowhere to be found, she decided to stay here for the meantime."Minnie?" She heard Zinnia said after three consective knocks.
Santi just got home after he talked privately with Sora. With that, he found out thoroughly what actually happened on the day that Minerva and Zinnia was attacked. He couldn't help but purse his lips. He had eyed this organization for years yet he couldn't find anything. Adira had already helped yet the results were the same. Even Winter, the Pope of the Church of Larin, secretly sent out information about this unknown organization yet they couldn't find anything at all. Worse, Sora had been unable to track those three who attacked Santi, Kristina, and Minerva while they were on the Halen Empire ten years ago.Although they hadn't found anything despite their combined efforts, Santi had a little bit of an inkling on who might behind all of these. After all, nobody in this world was capable enough on hiding away from Sora's radar unless it wasthem. If it truly wasthem just like what Santi a
Out for Santi's courtesy, Marcus excused himself so Minerva and Santi could have a time to talk. Although the tension increased as soon as Marcus left, Minerva chose to remain silent and let her father vent out. After all, it was her fault that she didn't say a word about the incident."Minerva Chrysalis, didn't I tell you to report to me immediately if something had happened to you? We talked last night before you went to sleep, right? I asked you if something happened but you just told me that you and Zinnia went outside to stroll. Nothing more. And yet just this morning, Claire had talked to me about the attempted assassination that happened yesterday? When you and Zinnia went outside?"Minerva bit the bottom of her lips and lowered her head. She knew that her father would certainly be mad about her hiding this for him. However, now that she had faced his anger, she couldn't help but feel regret on her decision."Wh
The breakfast was over and Serena, Parker, and Sancho went home. Although Serena and Parker were sent together in a mission with Vernon and Hansel, it was also the same case for Sancho. He was sent into an A rank mission. Therefore, what was left was Minerva, Zinnia, and Marcus."Lady Zinnia, a student sent a message saying that the young lady was summoned by Professor Claire." A maid said after she knocked three times on the dining room."Ah? Okay." Zinnia stood up and looked at Minerva."I'll be back. If you want, you could go with Marcus.""It's fine. I'll just wait for you here." Minerva said with a smile. Then, Zinnia left leaving Minerva and Marcus."So…" Marcus began, "Uncle Santi didn't permit you to go outside the Larin Continent?""Huh?" Minerva took a bite from the cake before she answered, "I thought you already knew?""I had a h
