Sacrifices

- Flashback 20 years-

"Selena, where are you?" Vlad immediately asked as soon Selena answered the call.

"I'm—oh!" But Selena couldn't talk anymore.

"Selena, you have to tell me where are you!" Vlad insisted. He can't just leave her best friend to give birth by herself.

"In an old cabin, just outside of Thorn. This is as far as I can go, Vlad." Selena finally answered in a weak voice.

"Just hang in there, Selena. I'm coming." He drove as fast as his old car could. Taking back roads and dirt roads to avoid being followed. When he hit the border of the town called Thorn he parked his car in a hidden spot and grabbed Selena's coat and a map to do a tracking spell. Not one minute after he already got her exact location.

"Ah!" She heard Selena cried out in pain.

"Selena!' Vlad didn't waste any more time and set up everything he needs to help Selena give birth to his son.

"Vlad, how— oh God!" Selena tried to ask him about something but the pain she felt was overpowering her.

"Selena, don't talk. Just focus on your son. Now, Selena, push!"

It took four hours before the baby came out. He was a beautiful boy with the eyes of his mother. The bright golden amber eyes of a blessed alpha. Vlad was overjoyed knowing the prophecy is true. The chosen alpha to end the line of the vampires have been born.

"Selena, he's so beautiful." He happily said to her while he was placing the baby in her chest.

"My son. My beautiful boy." Selena quickly became emotional when she felt her child on her body.

"It's happening, Selena. The prophecy is happening. We are blessed by the moon goddess once again." Vlad said to her, smiling.

"You, my beautiful have a great destiny ahead of you. But I can't be with you in order to protect you. You have to grow up without me. But when the right time comes, the moon will you back to me."

"What are you saying, Selena? Your son will be the greatest alpha this world will ever know. He can't grow up without you." Vlad protested.

"But he has to. Being with will only make a beacon that will lead all his enemies to him." A tear roll down her eyes. "Many will crave for my son's head on a silver platter. If I'm with him, he will never be safe." Selena said with finality.

"But—"

"Please, Vlad. Do this for me. Leave him to a family that will love him and will take care of him." There's nothing Vlad could do but obey the order of the alpha.

Vlad is sitting on a rock in front of the sea while remembering the day Selena gave away his son. She made him promise not to tell where he is. And that's what he did. For twenty years, Vlad kept it a secret even though it goes against his will. But he did something that would ensure that Selena will meet his son again.

- Flashback-

The hospital was quite busy when he arrived. There was a major car accident on the main highway a few minutes ago. He walked around trying to find the perfect spot to leave the child. He's using an invincibility spell that's why no one can see him and the child right now. As he continues to walk, he passed by a delivery room. The door was slightly ajar and he saw a woman giving birth. The woman was in a lot of pain. When the doctor pulled out the baby, she was lifeless. Vlad entered the delivery room and created an illusion for everyone inside.

He took the dead baby from the doctor's hand and place Selena's son instead. His heart breaks for the little boy. He was born at a time where vampires are continuously growing in power and his mother had to give away to protect him. When he removes the illusion the doctor announced "it's a healthy baby boy."

"Sweety, look at him. He's beautiful." The mother was happily playing with his newborn son while lying on her hospital bed.

"You made me the happiest on earth, sweety.",

" Hey, Fred! How's my godson?" A man entered the room smiling widely.

Vlad left the hospital smiling. He knows the child will be loved and taken care of.

- End of Flashback-

But he can't just leave the child unsupervised so he made sure that Selena will be there, near her son while he's growing up. He bought a house for Selena at Thorn, just a few blocks away from his son will grow up. A werewolf will always have an angry animal spirit inside of him. So he knows that child will grow as a wild kid. He needs to be near his family to help him control his violent urges. And he was not wrong. Selena's son grew up as an angry kid. He gets mad over anything.

- Flashback-

"Your robot looks nice. I want it." A blonde kid blocked his way and stood over him.

"Why don't you ask your dad to buy you one, then." The kid with brown hair said.

"Well, I want your robot. So give me that." The blonde kid grabbed the toy from the brown-haired kid and then push.

"Give it back." The brown-haired kid demanded. But the blonde kid was deaf with his demands.

"I said, give it back!" The brown-haired kid shouted behind the blonde kid.

"Why, Elias? What are you gonna do about it, huh?" The blonde kid hit the brown-haired kid's forehead with his finger repeatedly.

"I want my toy back." The brown-haired kid said coldly before backslapping the blonde kid. He dropped to the ground unconscious. The brown-haired kid looked at the friends of the blonde kid as if asking them if any of them wants to fight too, but they just ran in the other direction. The brown-haired kid picked up his toy and walked away with expressionless eyes.

Vlad always kept an eye on Selena and his son. He wanted to protect them from afar until they are both ready to come back. He can't even remember how many times he almost died fighting off those who were tracking them. He lied to the pack he's serving for twenty years to protect Selena's secret and his son. He always knew there was a traitor within the pack. Now that he's sure of this werewolf is, it's time for the snow wolf to come home.

Elias just fell asleep after drinking a few beers with Patrick. He's peacefully sleeping while Zel is standing right outside the door, watching him. She wanted to tell him everything but she can't be sure. It's been twenty years and she made Vlad promised that he would never tell him where he left her son. But how can she just disregard everything? His eye color, the color of his wolf fur, how old he is, his birthday. How aggressive and violent he can be. But what is the truth?

- Flashback

"Selena!' She thanked the moon goddess inwardly when his best friend and emissary arrived.

"Vlad, how— oh God!" Selena tried to ask him about something but the pain she felt was overpowering her. Her whole body's trembling and in pain. She tried to think about the face of her husband smiling down at her, telling her to be strong. That everything will be okay.

"Selena, don't talk. Just focus on your son. Now, Selena, push!" When Vlad gave the signal, Selena gave everything to push her baby out of her body.

"What are you saying, Selena? Your son will be the greatest alpha this world will ever know. He can't grow up without you." Vlad protested.

"Where did you leave my son, Vlad?" That's the question she kept asking herself. Is she looking at him already? Was he always been near her? Zel decided that hiding is now over. It's time to come home and she's bringing Elias with him.
