Mia's POV"What the fuck?" Lycidas whispered, still staring in shock at the wolf on the ground. That was the tenth time he said the sentence, and he said it one more time. "Seriously, what the fuck, Mia?" He looked at me with a questioning look in his eyes. It was as though he had never seen me really well till then. The cocky grin widened into a smile of pure joy. "Hey," I said, shaking him slightly. "You can't say thanks?" H didn't. Instead, his face quickly morphed from one of shock to the glower he usually had when he spoke to me. "Why should I?" he said, wiping himself down. He paused in the motion of trying to wipe out a stubborn drop of blood from his garment and looked me straight in the eye. No way! No way he could keep that face and ask that question. "I just saved your life, dumbhead," I growled. It was a real growl this time, with my voice going deeper than it had ever gone and a little bestial. I could see still feel the energy from my wolf in me, pumping me up.
Mia's POV The darkness pressed down on me like a heavy blanket. Only it was weightless and infinite. It stretched on as far as I could see, and I felt so lost in it.It was suffocating, and I felt a huge wave of fear crash over me as I wondered where I was. Then, points of light appeared in the distance. Relief crashed over me with as much intensity as the fear had.Thank goddess. Perhaps the light could lead me out of this suffocating darkness. But when I tried to move, I couldn't. In fact, I couldn't feel any part of my body.It was like I had no body, just a formless soul floating in the darkness. As panic set in, the points of light increased in number and expanded, and soon, it was like I was looking at the night sky.Only no night sky had stars in such an unnaturally beautiful formation. They twinkled and shone in the darkness, forming themselves into the formation.I stared at the points of light in awe.And then, as abruptly as they had come, they were gone, leaving me alone
Selena's POVThe figure turned slowly, and in the flickering torchlight, their face remained obscured. A sinister smile played on their lips, and the silence that followed spoke louder than any words.A whisper escaped their lips, sending a chill down my spine. "Welcome home, Luna. Nightshade has left its mark, but it seems we have barely made a dent. Damian tells me you're a very weak Luna."The voice sent shivers down my spine. I wouldn't be able to describe if I was asked to, but it carried an edge to it that sent my instincts tingling. "Who are you?" I asked. Another heavy silence from his end sent my heart beating. The person retreated further into the shadows."Beat me and you shall find out," he said. "Or you can let me. I would appreciate having the freedom to search through the castle and uncover your secrets," As it spoke, it retreated further down the hall. But I was frozen where I stood, uncertain whether to pursue or retreat. The mysterious stranger sounded really da
Hazel's POV Then a wolf crept out of the trees and faced me head on. Vaguely, I could sense other wolves in the trees, but they kept out of sight. The wolf turned to his human form. "Hazel," the person said. "Damian tells me you have an iron will," "Who are you?" I asked. "I am Vance," the man replied, his voice laced with a dark edge. "I've heard tales of your ruthless reign, Alpha King. But tales can be deceiving, can't they?"I eyed Vance cautiously, my wolf instincts on high alert. The other wolves in the trees remained hidden, their presence adding to the sense of impending danger."What do you want?" I demanded, my posture tense.Vance chuckled, a sinister sound that sent a shiver down my spine. "I want to see if the rumors about your strength hold true. A little test, if you will."Without waiting for my response, Vance lunged at me, and the forest echoed with the clash of our fur and the thud of our bodies hitting the ground. The fight began, and the air crackled with ten
Hazel's POVFor a dangerous moment, I paused, frozen in the motion of lunging, my eyes stuck to the flash of silver. I had heard tales about the emblem. It served as a batch to the highest ranking members of the Silver Hands. But you would hardly see any that is completely silver. Most of them would be just a hand, which a patch of silver somewhere on it. Yet, the one before my eyes was completely silver. Just what was the man's rank? "Ahh!" The sound escaped my mouth as the man sent me flying. Eleven feet into the air. A freaking eleven feet into the air. And I was very heavy in my wolf form, being an alpha wolf. Just how string was this guy too? Though I wondered, I quickly prepared to land on my feet, ready to fight or counter any attack. Few seconds distraction had caused me this, and I wasn't about to let it cost me any more than the jar of hitting the ground from eleven feet height. But my eyes widened as I looked down and saw the man. He was directly below me, in his hu
Mia's POV"Is that Maya?" I heard a cheery voice ask. In a few seconds, the owner rushed into the cave. She froze when she saw me, and surprise followed by distaste flashed across her face. The distaste remained, even when the surprise was gone. "The bear's didn't tear you to pieces?" she asked, scowling at me. "You can go to hell! You can't be the one in the prophecy if you're so stupid!" At the moment I saw her face, I remembered the words she had screamed as I escaped the shack almost as if she just spoke them moments ago. It was the first time I had heard about the prophecy, so I still remembered it clearly. "Hey, they're no bears in hell," I replied. We glared at each other, and I suddenly realised the air was thick with our… enmity? I wasn't sure if we were enemies since I didn't know how I offended her, but I certainly wasn't in her list of favorite people. "What is the fool talking about?" she asked no one in particular. There were only Lycidas, she and I in the room
Mia's POV "Mabel tells me you don't know the details of the prophecy yet?" it was more a question than a statement. I looked at the a little too but cheery alpha and nodded. We were seated in the cage we had taken as our sitting room, the same exact one we had first been in when the wolves chased us out of the cottage that night. "That's not right," Alpha Fenrir said, a little disgruntled with my reply. He turned to look at Mabel who was seated at a corner. "She's not strong enough," Mabel muttered defensively. "And she's too dumb for it too," Martha said. To my surprise, Lycidas glared at her. She glared right back and soon, they were caught in a contest of who would look away first. My mind tuned out of what Alpha Fenrir was saying as it tried to contain the absurdity of what it was seeing. Surely, that couldn't be Lycidas standing up for me, could it? I punched myself, just to be sure I was not dreaming. The pain was real. But it didn't make sense. We took every opportunit
