Chapter 137

Lycidas' POV

There was a low simmering tension between I and Mason as we trudged through the dense underbrush. Mason and I made our way back to the deer carcass, our senses still heightened from the exhilarating chase, and while the tension was slowly ebbing, I felt like a complete fool in a way. I know that what I'd seen was real (I was not willing to accomodate the thought that I was going mad - no sir) but it still felt weird to think that I was the only one who had actually seen that creature.

In a way, all I needed right now was to get back to base and just sleep everything off but the world had to other plans because we stumbled upon yet another strange abandoned camp nestled amidst the trees.
