An hour and a half before the event, Hyde got himself ready. Flynn who was again slumping in front of the TV—like he usually did whenever he crash over his place—almost dropped his jaw when his friend came out from the closet.
He’s indeed looking spectacular with his black Giorgio Armani suit that fitted well on his masculine build. He was fixing the button on his wrist when he noticed Flynn’s weird expression. He found it quite intimidating tho.
“Stop giving me that look, it’s making me uncomfortable.” Hyde resorted bluntly. His companion let out a brief chuckle and replied…
“Okay fine, I won’t. I’d better be back to my lair and do something interesting.” Hyde shook his head and let the other guy out of his sight. He might need him later when the mission ends.
The young man took a last glance at the mirror and set his gun in the hidden pocket of his suit. Then, he went out of his room and rode the elevator towards the garage. This time, he drove his black Ferrari instead of his Porsche.
Everything around him was black, from cars to suits, even his room has the shade of black. He believes the color suits his personality well.
He drifted the car towards the huge copper gate leading to the White residences. A few couple of minutes after he arrived at the said house, Adeline White came out of the house. She looks elegantly stunning with her shining white evening gown that emphasized her splendid curves and a bit of exposed cleavage, and her long, blonde wavy hair was done neatly into a braided bun, showing off the sexiness of her neck.
“I’d bet you’ve spent too much time getting yourself pretty when we are just there to keep everything in order. Tsk!” The young man muttered when the lady entered the car.
“C’mon cut me some slacks. You don’t want me to wear a sleeveless shirt and ripped jeans, do you?” Adeline White grumbled and settled her seatbelt.
After that, Hyde left the residence and took the direction toward the venue. He set the car at the secret parking space that seemed to be exclusive only to the VIPs. Hyde took a small black case from his inside pocket and wore the earplug on his left ear, Adeline did the same too.
When everything is settled, both of them left the car and headed towards the wide entrance. The security team had their firm grasps on every people entering the venue, and when it was their turn to be inspected by the guards, the lady sneakily took out her special pass to the security. And without further ado, the head of the security let them enter upon knowing that this couple is with them.
Adeline swiftly grabbed a cocktail from the waiter they happened to pass upon entering.“Hm, the drink tastes good!” she acknowledged after taking a short sip on the drink.
“Stop distracting yourself and keep your eyes open.” The lady rolled her eyes at the statement. Hyde strolled over the counter and got himself a glass of whiskey, while Adeline set herself on the table in the corner where she could have a better perspective around the hall.
“Agent Black, set.” He whispered after activating the earplug hidden in his ear.
“Agent White, set.” In a short while, Adaline activated her device, too.
“Agents, this is Officer Quin, do you hear me?” Quin asked while keeping her eyes at the security monitors spread in every corner of the main hall. The agents responded immediately. The other boys, Luke and Rex were sitting on each side of her, looking at the monitor containing the security footage from each wing of the hall.
“Got any suspicious fishes in the pond Agent Black?” Asked Rex.
“No, not yet,” Hyde replied. He tried to minimize his voice so that nobody could notice them secretly talking.
About ten minutes later, the four participants—three middle-aged women and a man in his mid-forties—were already settled at their tables along with their bodyguards. Hyde took a sip on his whiskey while secretly glancing at every participant, trying to spot any suspicious person around them. They just got the biggest names in the industry.
“A pleasant evening to our honorable guests…” The host of the night came out from the platform and welcomed everyone in the event as he began the program.
“Four stunning accessories will be showcased in tonight’s event…” The event staff brought four necklaces with different designs. All of them were covered by the thick glass as protection.
“Okay everyone, get your numbers ready, as we commence the auction. First in the line would be ‘Madonna’…” The thin diamond necklace was brought in front. Then the host gave a brief description and special features of the item before presenting the starting price of it.
“Okay 30M bucks for table 2, going once going twice…” None of the three other participants raised a number. Thus, ‘Madonna’ was given to Ms. Rye in table two. The host presented the next item.
One item after another, and now, the third item ‘Scarlet Tears’ was brought in front for presentation. Hyde crossed his brows upon noticing something at the man sitting at table 4. He was just sitting still in his seat and seemed to be bothered by something and without any reason, suspicion grew inside Hyde.
“Quin, could you look at table 4?” Hyde authoritatively ordered without glancing away from the man.
“Copy sir, wait for a second,” Quin replied immediately.
“Is there something wrong?” Hyde shortly glanced at Adeline. She was looking at him too. Then he brought back his sights to table 4.
“Kind of, Mr. Smith seemed to be uneasy~” The young man wasn’t able to finish his sentence when…
“Sir, I found it!” Quin’s serious tone alerted him.
“Sir looks like he was threatened by that bulky man behind him.” The young man swiftly turned to look at the old man who remained stiff in his seat.
Adeline White stayed quiet at her table while sipping her second glass of cocktail. Her eyes were focused on the ongoing auction but her ears were all open to the ongoing conversation between Hyde and the people from the cyber crime department.
“Any weapon?” Hyde asked. Quin from the security room turned to her laptop to have a clear look at the camera set near table 4.
“Yes, a pistol. Should I alarm the security team, sir?” A conniving grin flashed through the lady’s lips as she finished her drink.
“No, let me handle it.” Then, she slightly turned towards Hyde’s direction and sent him the most mischievous grin she could ever have. Hyde knows what she meant and kept quiet.
Last night, she just did a few diggings before going to bed and found out that Robert Smith, 45 years old and the new CEO of the famous car company is a womanizer. Well, she could feel the favor’s on her side.
Adeline grabbed another glass of cocktail as she stunningly strode towards the fourth table without anyone noticing. She loosened the pin on her wavy hair and let it flow down through her shoulders.
“Uh, excuse me. You’re Robert Smith, right?” The man sent her a puzzled look but she ignored it. She needs to take this old hag away from him anyway.
“Who are you?” The bulky man’s deep monotone voice made Adeline glare at him, but it was just a few minutes.
“Hey, it’s me, Addie Wilson. I can’t believe you already forgot about me, and how we spend the night at your place.” Adeline was giving him her signature flirtatious smile but her eyes were telling him to go with the flow or else his life will be finished. And guess what, the man changed the expression in his eyes. The lady doesn’t know if he was able to get what she was trying to do or if his sexual desire was just aroused by her irresistible beauty.
“Oh Addie, now I remember. Come here my darlin’.” One corner of her lips raised when Robert hastily grabbed her wrist and let her sit on his lap.
“Sir…” He paused when the bulky man whispered something to him. His latter expression came back for a few seconds but he changed it immediately upon noticing Adeline’s gaze on him. The bulky man’s words might not be clear but she’s sure it was “Stick to the plan or you’ll die.”
Now, the host finally took the ‘Blue Moonlight’ in front of the stage and gave a short description of the said jewelry.
“Ok so let’s start with 8 Million…” tables 1, 2, and 3 began to raise their numbers while the man on her side stayed silent. She could feel his heavy breath and tension. Then she noticed him leaning slowly towards her ears.
“Who really are you?” He whispered.
“You don’t have to know my identity. It’s just that, I happened to notice this old hippo pointing a pistol at you. So, if you still value your dearest life, then just go with the flow.” She explained.
“12 Million for table 2…” The host announced. Adeline lifted a brow upon noticing Robert’s groan. This hippo must point the gun deeper into his side just to raise his number.
“15 Million!” for the first time, table four spoke up.
“20 Million”-table 3.
“40 Million!”-table 2.
“80 Million!” The lady’s eyes widened when Robert uttered such an amount.
“83 Million!” announced Mrs. Patterson from table 1. The current price rate left the other two participants in silent, but the lady from the first table and this man beside Adeline keeps competing.
“90 Million.”-Mrs. Patterson blew her last chance. If Robert can’t offer a much bigger price, then lucky is she. The bulky man whispered something again which annoyed the man. Adeline bet he’s also at his limit.
“I can’t go on any further. My company will end if I continued to higher the price.” She heard Robert complain.
“90 Million from Mrs. Patterson, if no one bids~” Sweats began to fall into the man’s forehead as he tried to fight the tension inside him.
“Excuse me, Ms. Will you stop disturbing our boss, he can’t concentrate.” Adie raised a glare at the man behind then smirk.
“Perhaps, I should be the one saying that to you. I’ve been noticing since earlier that you’ve been making him uncomfortable. Eh, or should I say you’re threatening his life.” She said with a voice traced with mere arrogance. The man’s reaction was filled with astonishment and confusion.
“Wh-Who the hell are you?” Adeline set her glass on the table and stood in front of the man.
Hyde was silently observing Adeline from his post, waiting for her signal.“Seems like she’s enjoying it.” He scoffed and raised one corner of his lips. He knows what she is trying to do. That’s her specialty after all. If their target is a man, she’ll try to buy him some time until the other undercover agents will be spread around the area. And when everything is set, they could easily dominate the bad guys.“Should we attack sir?” Quinn sounded impatient.“No, hold it, unless the civilians’ security is already settled. Let’s wait for her signal.” He studied the man’s expression, he looked awfully uncomfortable yet, his other hand was still having its firm grip on his pistol.“Wh-Who are you?” Adeline bit her lower lip and drew a smirk.“Oh, dear. I’d bet you don’t wanna know me. It’s a bit confidential.” She said while playing with the man’s clenched jaw with the stroke of her finger, and she’d bet he likes it. She reached for the man’s ear. A slight shock came from Adeline when the
A familiar white ceiling welcomed Hyde the moment he opened his eyes, and the lemon scent of the disinfectant lingers on every side of the room—just like that day. He was certain he is currently confined in the hospital. But how did he end up here?Hyde sat up on the bed, resting his back on the well-varnished headboard, and slightly massaged his temple. He was trying to remember what happened last night since he could barely remember anything.“Damn it! I did it again.” He thought, brushing his hair in frustration.“Adie told me you suddenly fainted after successfully throwing the bomb away from the ship.” Hyde glanced at James who was standing near the glass window, crossing both of his arms on his chest. He didn’t notice he was there the whole time.“I see.” The young man commented when everything turned out clear to him. James left the window and was seated on the couch facing the bed.“You know you’re afraid of explosions and yet you still~”“I told you I’m not afraid of bombs—no
“You want to see me?” Hyde asked as he entered James’ office. He set himself on the chair when the man offered a seat.“Your request for a break was approved by the director just now.” James notified.“I see. I could finally grab a ticket back to Black Crest tomorrow immediately.” He said to himself.“Yeah, but Flynn must go with you.” Hyde hastily crossed his brows to the man’s suggestion.“What?”“I’ll ask Flynn to go with you.” “No, no one’s going with me. I don’t want anyone to be involved in my own battle.” He firmly said.“And I can’t let you enter this hell alone. Jack entrusted you to me, and I can’t just let you enter a battlefield without thinking about the consequences. I can be at ease if someone will accompany you.” Worries filled the man’s eyes as he locked his gaze on the young man.“No, my decision’s final, I can’t let Flynn come with me.” James heaved out a defeated sigh.“Okay, fine. But you must report to me every single plan you have. In case I could come up with b
In the far corner of the restaurant, Hyde chose to take the vacant table and glanced outside the glass window where the night was devoured by the bright luminescence lights guiding the streets and the moving cars on the busy highway. He never knew how fascinating the city is at night.“You must be Mr. Collins?” Hyde swiftly drifted his gazes when a man in his late fifties suddenly came to approach him. His skin started to wrinkle and some strands of his hair have turned to gray but his sophisticated eyes haven’t shown any change. Formality screamed out from the man’s appearance as Hyde darted his gazes at him.“Yes sir, Hyde Collins.” The inspector smiled and reached out for the young man’s hand then they sent a formal shake of hands before they seated on their seats.“Would you mind having dinner as we talk?”“Fine by you.” The man chuckled. Hyde called the waiter and asked him to present the course. The waiter nodded and left the table.“So you’re a son of James Collins.” Hyde looke
“Wait, Pa! Where are you going?” Tears fell from the man’s eyes as he gently caressed his son’s tender cheeks. Then a forced smile drew from his brims as he looked into his innocent confused eyes.“Aries, son. Will you promise papa you’ll look after mama?” Words that came out from his father’s utterances. The boy seemed to be clueless about what his father has said, but he managed to nod his head as response. And so the man began turning his back from his son and prepared to leave.“But where are you going?” the boy asked again. The man came back and gave the boy a very tight embrace.“Papa has to leave for work in few weeks. Mama might get lonely, please take care of her for me.”“Hmm, Don’t worry pa. I will take care of mama.” The boy’s innocent smile brought ache from his father’s heart, yet he tried not to show it to his son.And so the young boy gladly bid his father goodbye until he finally left the house. Little did he know, that would be the last time he would see his father.*
The rushing noise filled the city of Black Crest as the rapid pattering of the rain fell on Monday evening. The rain came unexpectedly, and there was no further warning for any storm coming from the weather forecast. Lucky for those citizens who came home early from work, they just had to settle in their homes waiting for their supper to be cooked. As for those who need to take an extra hour at work, the situation left them no choice but to travel home and take their risk waiting for the heavy traffic jam caused by the heavy rain.In one unit of the condominium building, there lived a lady in her near thirties, wearing a milky-white satin nightgown with her velvety curls falling freely down to her waist. She was standing near the windowpane, her round gunmetal blue orbs fixed at the hazy lights reflected by the fogged glass window. She was wrapping her arms together in front of her chest due to the coldness of the weather. For some time, she gradually drifted her gazes at the door and
It was a cold freezing night, the loud chattering sound of rain and the succeeding roaring thunder gave such an earful noise inside the residence. In the middle of the room was a thirteen-year-old Arché—the only son of the family was busy doing his homework while listening to music to avoid the disturbance of the noise outside. Thirty minutes passed when a very loud thunder echoed along with the shutting down of the lights. Now, everything was dark due to the blackout. Arché reached for his phone and turned on the flashlight. Then, to look for his parents who were watching TV in the living area, the boy stepped out of his room and went down the stairs. But when he reached the middle of the stairs a loud scream startled him and made his heart skip a beat. He was very sure it was his mother's voice. The young boy turned off the flashlight and slowly continued to step down until he reached the living area. The quick light from the thunder was the only one illuminating inside. And when

The alarm didn't stop beeping until the man who was sleeping was aroused and reached for the clock to turn it off.
