With Alpha Eric standing in front of her, Lucy felt her heart drop to her stomach. She felt a chill run down her spine as his massive, menacing form stood tall in the doorway, his stern eyes locked on her.

Lucy realized at that very instant that she was in serious jeopardy.

Lucy," Alpha Eric's voice boomed, cutting through the silence like a thunderclap. "What is the meaning of this?"

Lucy's throat went dry as she struggled to form a coherent response. She could feel the weight of his gaze bearing down on her, his piercing eyes seeming to bore into her very soul. She knew that she had to choose her words carefully, for any misstep could spell disaster.

"Alpha Eric," she began, her voice trembling slightly despite her efforts to maintain composure. "I... I was just..."

But before she could finish her sentence, Alpha Eric's expression hardened into a mask of displeasure.

"Save your excuses, Lucy," he snapped, his voice cutting like a knife through the air. "I will not tolerate this act of yours, insubordination in my pack, especially from one such as you." He turned his eyes away from her and nodded his head with his gaze pressed on Isabella.

"Isabella, what happened?" He questioned with a frown encroaching on his face.

As Isabella heard those words from Alpha Eric, her heart raced with excitement, her thoughts already racing with stories of trickery and deceit. This, she realized, was her chance to get rid of Lucy, the pain in her side that had been bothering her ever since the day she joined the pack.

"Alpha Eric," she said, her voice lilting with honey and brimming with fake earnestness. "I must speak with you about a matter of great importance."

Alpha Eric looked at her, a mix of trust and fascination in his gaze as he turned to face her. With a hint of frustration in his voice, he said, "What is it, Isabella?"

Isabella took a deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead. "It's Lucy," she said, her voice trembling slightly despite her efforts to appear composed. "I'm afraid she's been causing trouble once again."

Alpha Eric's brow furrowed in concern. "What kind of trouble?" he demanded, his voice sharp with urgency.

Isabella wasted no time in launching into her fabricated tale, weaving a web of lies with practiced ease. She recounted how she had caught Lucy snooping around in places she didn't belong, how she had overheard her plotting against Alpha Eric and his son, Leo. She painted Lucy as a conniving seductress, a wolf in sheep's clothing who was intent on causing chaos within the pack.

As she spun her tale, Isabella watched with satisfaction as Alpha Eric's expression darkened with anger. She could see the fire of righteous indignation burning in his eyes, fueling his desire to root out the source of the trouble and put an end to it once and for all.

And there's more," Isabella continued, her voice trembling with feigned outrage. "She had the audacity to remind me of the incident with your son, as if she had done nothing wrong. I fear she may be trying to turn him against us, to sow discord within the pack."

Alpha Eric's jaw clenched with fury at the mention of his son's name. He had always been fiercely protective of Leo, and the thought of anyone trying to harm him filled him with a primal rage unlike anything he had ever experienced before.

"Are you of all the words that came out of your mouth?" Alpha Eric demanded, his voice a low growl that sent shivers down Isabella's spine.

Isabella swallowed hard, her heart racing with anticipation as she delivered the final blow. "Yes," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Without another word, Alpha Eric turned on his heel and faced Lucy.

Lucy!" he barked, his voice echoing through the empty corridors with the force of a thunderclap.

Lucy's eyes widened in shock at the accusation, her heart pounding with fear as she struggled to find the words to defend herself. "Alpha Eric, please," she pleaded, her voice trembling with emotion.

"I don't know what Isabella is talking about, it's not true. I would never do anything to harm you or your son." She said her voice was kind of faltering.

Alpha Eric was in no mood to listen to reason. His mind was clouded with rage, his vision obscured by the words he had just heard.

Seeing the expression on his face, Lucy bowed her head and fell on her knees as she knew at the moment that there was nothing she could say that could change Alpha Eric's mind.

She knew somehow that her fate would be decided and there would be no one to help her. Isabella watched him go with a triumphant smirk, knowing that her plan had worked perfectly.

In no time, Eric reached out and grabbed Lucy by the arm, his grip like a vice and pulled her up. His eyes shifted its color as they turned red.

He pushed her against the wall, causing her to hit her head against the wall. She fell back on the ground with a loud grunt. She strived to get back on her feet as she shook her head swiftly.

Isabella stood with a devilish smile radiating all over her face. She watched as Marie rushed to help Lucy back on her feet but Lucy pushed her away and said "Don't touch me, just stay away from me,"

Marie wagged her head and stood back.

"I won't have to punish you myself, you'll be given twenty strokes of the cane," His voice echoed.

"Twenty strokes, she might not survive it… she's just a mere slave and does not have her powers yet," Isabella smirked.

Lucy raised her head slowly until her eyes came in contact with Isabella. She knew too well to believe Isabella would say such words.

Isabella smiled at her, making gestures with her hands.

Alpha Eric was about to call in the guards but stopped when Leo stepped inside the room.

Leo couldn't shake the feeling that this conversation was far from over. His father's suspicions had been raised, and he knew that he would need to be even more cautious in the days to come. Isabella walked down the hallway, her heels clicking sharply against the stone floor, her heart pounding with a mixture of anger and hurt. Leo’s silence had cut her deeper than any words could have. It was as if he had dismissed her entirely, as if she didn’t even matter to him. The cold indifference in his eyes, the way he had refused to acknowledge her accusations, it all stung more than she wanted to admit. Why couldn’t he see? Why couldn’t he understand how much she cared for him, how much she wanted him? She had loved Leo for as long as she could remember, a deep, aching love that had only grown stronger over the years. But it was a love tinged with bitterness, with the sharp edges of jealousy and resentment. Ethan helped Leo sit on the edge of his bed, the tension in the air heavy enough to cut through. Leo's breathing was still ragged, and the adrenaline from his earlier outburst hadn't completely left his system. His knuckles were bloodied, and the raw, angry skin stung, but he didn't seem to notice or care. He was too wrapped up in his thoughts—thoughts that made his expression hard, his jaw clenched.Ethan, ever the loyal companion, left Leo for a moment to step outside. He dismissed the guards stationed at the door and they obeyed as they didn’t argue. Though, Ethan outranked them, and his authority was absolute. He spoke with calm authority, and the guards nodded, disappearing into the shadows of the hallways, leaving the entrance unguarded. Ethan knew Leo needed privacy now more than ever, and having eyes and ears around would only complicate things.Returning to the room, Ethan closed the door softly behind him and moved to sit beside Leo on the bed. Ethan and Marie carefully carried Lucy into her room. It was a dark and dimly lit room. The silence between them was thick with worry and unspoken thoughts as they laid her gently on the thin mattress. The room was void, nearly empty except for a small lamp and a pile of clothes tucked away in the corner. The air was heavy and the only source of light casting dark shadows on the walls was the rays of light that escaped through a small hole on the window. Marie immediately hurried towards the window to open it up so that light would fill the room. Her fingers trembled as she moved to open the window, but Ethan quickly grabbed her wrist.“No,” he said, his voice low and urgent. “We can’t risk anyone seeing me in here. It’s too dangerous.”Marie hesitated, her eyes wide with a mix of fear as she watched Ethan hands firm on her wrist. She nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. “They had me,” she started, her voice low as she stepped in closer to Aiden. “There were five of them. Omegas. I could tell by the way they carried themselves. They were ready to kill me, to cut me off without flinching.”Aiden's jaw tensed, but he remained silent, letting her continue.Lucy glanced at her wounded arm, the gash now a dull ache compared to the adrenaline that had surged through her veins earlier. “I tried to move. To get out of their circle. But one of them rushed at me.”Her breath hitched as she recalled the moment—how she had barely dodged, how another had grabbed her from behind before she could react.“He held me down and then…” she exhaled sharply, shaking her head. “One of them was going to strike. I saw his claws. I almost felt death lurking when he aimed for my throat.”Aiden took a slow step forward, his brows drawing together. “But he didn't.” It wasn't a question.Lucy nodded. “No. Because I… I growled.”The word felt foreign on her tongue. Aiden stood close to the window, peeping through the small open space. He retracted his head as he heard the approaching footsteps outside. The guards had been going and coming, looking for the unknown. Their voices were low but firm, exchanging words as they passed through the area.“Lucy!” he whispered.Lucy's grip on his wrist tightened. It was like she already knew what he wanted to say—what he wanted to convey to her.“Stay,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.Aiden exhaled through his nose as light mist could be seen coming out. He glanced toward the door. He didn't like this. He had already risked enough by coming here. Yes, he might be a Prince—not just a prince but a Lycan Prince… it didn't exempt him from abiding by the rules also. He didn't want to get in the way of Alpha Eric since everyone was to stay indoors whenever there was an intruder and the only people to be seen were the guards. Even the Alpha and his son, Leo, were meant to stay indoors. He can't be seen li

Leo's gaze hardened but he didn't pull back. He didn't even flinch and just met Aiden's gaze. He didn't understand what Aiden meant by his question and was only trying to comprehend it. His lips pressed into a thin line as if waiting for Aiden to explain himself.Aiden exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You want her. But you won't admit it. You won't act on it. You think standing here, acting like you don't care, makes you strong?” His voice dropped lower, a quiet challenge. “It makes you a coward.” Leo's jaw clenched. A muscle ticked at the side of his face.Aiden tilted his head, his eyes searching Leo's face for any sign or flicker of emotion. “You don't deserve to be Alpha.” he tapped Leo's chest with his finger and pushed him. But it was a slight push. His gaze was strong like he was expecting the worse from Leo, hoping he was going to react and fight him.Leo's nostrils flared. “Watch your mouth.”Aiden chuckled, but there was no humor in it. “Or what? Aiden just bent there on the spot. He didn't turn around. He didn't need to. He had already sensed Leo the moment he arrived, his scent, his presence thick in the air like a storm rolling in. Even the sound of his boots pressing into the dirt was slow. If was measured, closing the distance between them and Aiden could notice that, as his ears captured even the faintest sound.Aiden stayed still, his fingers twitching slightly at his side. He sniffed again as the scent of blood still clung to the air and mixed with the cool night breeze. He didn't like being interrupted, especially not now that it was all about Lucy who could be in danger and needed help. Leo's voice soon cut through the silence. “What are you doing here?”Aiden smirked, tilting his head slightly but still not turning around. “I could ask you the same thing.”Leo stepped closer, his presence not too intimidating. “It's my pack,” he said, his tone laced with impatience. “I don't need a reason to be anywhere. Isabella just stood there. She was motionless, her hand resting on the door handle. The second knock at the door had sent a chill down her, causing her earlier confidence to slip away like sand through her fingers. She glanced over her shoulder, her mind racing. Could it be them? Or worse… someone else? Her heart pounded as she slowly turned the handle. The door creaked as it opened just enough for her to peek through. The sight of Leo standing there with his mouth shut like he had suspected something and his face unreadable and expressionless made her blood run cold, sending shivers down her spine and making her fidgeting. She tightened her grip, firm on the door to an extent that her knuckles almost turned white.“Leo?” she managed to say but her voice didn't falter, knowing she had to keep her calm.He didn't answer. There was silence in the air. It hung for a while as the name which Lucy uttered replayed in her mind. Isabella. Marie knew she could be right as Isabella was the only one who would do such a thing. She also knew that Leo, despite his attitude toward Lucy, would somehow protect her if it came to that as she had seen something like that before.“Isabella… that wicked witch.” She squeezed her face, her hand swung in the air like she was imagining Isabella right in front of her and she, doing the needful. Marie kept and just fixed her eyes on something she could not even say. Something invisible not until Marie broke the silence.“But Lucy… how did you do it? You said there were five of them. How did you fight them off? You're not even… I mean, you don't have your wolf yet.”A smile curled at the end of Lucy's lips. “ I don't know… I can't even explain what happened,” Lucy admitted, her voice shaking. Lucy moved through the dimly lit path. The only light was the moonlight. But her senses were sharper than ever. Every shift in the wind, every faint footsteps of the patrolling guards reached her before they themselves came close. She had stayed hidden, her back pressed to cold walls, avoiding the guards, her breaths shallow but controlled. It felt strange, like she had tapped into something she couldn't quite fully understand. If only claws had sprouted out from her fingers and maybe some fur of hairs sprang out of her skin, she could have understood that it was her wolf and that she had finally gotten it. But it was only her senses that became heightened and she had the strength of three women. How was that possible? She had never felt that way before and had not experienced it.Her vision cut through the darkness, catching even the smallest flicker of movement. The metallic taste of blood lingered on her tongue, her wounds throbbing with every step. She pressed her hand to her shou

A rush of heat surged through her veins, burning like liquid fire. Like a current that surged through a copper wire. She jiggled, her muscles pulsating. In no time, she trembled as an unfamiliar power roared to life within her. It wasn't pain—it was something else. Something untamed and terrifying. Something she could not believe nor quite understand. Her eyes snapped open, and at that instant… Everything felt sharper as she could hear distant sounds of the fireflies. Her eyes looked clearly as she could see well through the darkness. The scent of the omegas, the sound of their breaths, even the faint rustle of leaves—it all hit her senses at once. The omega in front of her hesitated, his claws pausing midair. “What the—”Lucy let out a guttural growl, cutting the omega off in front of her. Lucy kept her steps slow, her heels barely lifting off the ground as she wandered through the pack grounds. The familiar pathways glistened under the faint moonlight. The night air carried a cool, quiet stillness as they brushed against her skin.It would have been better if she had felt the cool stillness of the breeze while she cuddled with Aiden. Not when she was left alone by herself to wander around. She could have taken the shorter route back to her room, but the thought of facing Marie's inevitable questions which would arise because of her attitude made that decision for her.She sighed, her mind flickering back to Aiden—his touch, his voice, the way his eyes seemed to burn right through her.
