Julian’s POV

The sound of the door clicking shut behind Pierre Thompson left an uneasy silence hanging in the air. Étienne sat across from me, his legs casually crossed, but the sharpness in his gaze betrayed the same tension I felt.

“Well,” he drawled, breaking the silence, “that was enlightening. Your Lexi’s got more skeletons in her closet than a haunted mansion.”

I shot him a glare. “This isn’t a joke, Étienne.”

“I’m not joking,” he said, sitting up straight. “This is a mess. A dangerous one. Her mother isn’t just a threat to Lexi; she’s a threat to anyone remotely connected to her. Including you.”

I didn’t need him to remind me. Catherine Hale was no ordinary woman. Ruthless, calculated, and utterly devoid of conscience. A woman like that didn’t just disappear for years without a plan. She was waiting, watching, and now, it seemed, making her move.

“We need to neutralize her,” I said finally, my voice cold.

Étienne raised an eyebrow. “Neutralize? Is that the new polite ter

Julian’s POV “Wear the red dress,” I said, leaning casually against the bedroom doorframe. The deep burgundy fabric hung in the closet, catching the soft light. Lexi glanced up at me, a mix of curiosity and defiance in her eyes. “The red one?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow. “Yes, the one I bought for you,” I replied smoothly. It’s our last day here in New York, “We’re going out tonight.” “Where?” she asked, her tone cautious. “A couples’ dinner. You, me, Étienne, and his wife,” I said, watching her reaction closely. Her expression softened slightly. “Étienne’s wife?” “Yes,” I confirmed, stepping closer. “You’ll like her. She’s… classy. I think you’ll enjoy meeting her.” Lexi tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “Alright, but if this dress doesn’t fit, it’s your fault.” “It’ll fit,” I assured her, my tone unwavering. Lexi sighed dramatically but turned toward the closet, her fingers brushing over the silky material. “You’re really pulling out all the stops, are

Lexi's POV I woke up to the sound of Julian's phone buzzing on the nightstand. He groggily reached over to silence it, his eyes squinting in the morning light. I snuggled deeper into the blankets, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. Last night had been perfect - the dinner, the conversation, the way Julian had looked at me with such intensity. But as I drifted off to sleep again, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Julian's behavior had been strange, almost... guarded. And Étienne's words kept echoing in my mind: "Those two are trouble. But they're loyal to the core." I pushed the thoughts aside, telling myself I was just being paranoid. Julian and I were... complicated. I had developed feelings for him, small and tentative, but feelings nonetheless. And I could sense that he felt something for me too, even if he didn't always show it. But as the day went on, I couldn't help but notice that Julian was distant, preoccupied. He kept glancing at his ph

Catherine’s POV I sipped my coffee, staring coldly at the person across from me. The bitterness of the brew matched the venom in my voice. “It doesn’t make sense,” I said sharply. “Why would he leave everything to her?” “Maybe he wanted to take care of her,” they said cautiously. I let out a cold laugh. “Take care of her? She’s nothing but a spoiled brat. She thinks she’s entitled to everything because of her name.” I leaned closer, lowering my voice. “But she won’t get it. Not if I can stop her. That mansion, that money—it should have been mine from the start. And I’ll make sure she doesn’t get a dime.” A slow smile crept across my face as a plan began to form. “I have ideas. Ways to make sure Lexi disappears for good.” The person across from me hesitated but leaned in. “What are you thinking?” “Something tragic. An accident. A car crash, maybe,” I said calmly. “It’ll look believable, nothing that points back to me.” “What about the investigation?” they asked, frowni

Étienne’s POV As I sit in my luxurious hotel room in Los Angeles, the city’s bright lights spread out below me. The view is breathtaking, but it does little to ease the storm g inside me. Memories I’ve tried to forget come rushing back, and I can’t ignore them anymore. I need to face why I want revenge against Julian. Years ago, Julian and I were more than business partners; we were like brothers. We shared big dreams, trusted each other completely, and believed we could conquer any challenge together. Our bond was unbreakable, or so I thought. We ventured into high-risk deals, thinking we could handle anything as long as we had each other. But that trust shattered when we made a deal with a dangerous mafia group. The promise of big money clouded our judgment, and we ignored the risks. I trusted Julian to guide us through, believing he had the experience and cunning to navigate the treacherous waters. Little did I know, he had other plans. Without telling me, Julian set up a sche

Julian’s POV I stood frozen, my eyes locked on Lexi’s as Étienne’s voice cut through the tension. “Excuse me, Julian, Lexi. Our business associates are waiting downstairs for the meeting.” Lexi’s gaze didn’t waver, but I could see the unspoken words hanging in the air. This isn’t over. I’m going to find out what you’re hiding. I forced a smile, trying to compose myself. “Let’s go,” I said, gesturing to the elevator. As we stepped inside, Lexi’s eyes never left mine. I could feel Étienne’s gaze on us, enjoying the suspense. He leaned back against the wall, a sly smile spreading across his face. “Oh, you deserve this, Julian,” he said, his voice low. “And you deserve even worse.” I ignored him, my focus entirely on Lexi. But I could sense Étienne’s malice, his enjoyment of the turmoil he was causing. The meeting was a blur, but Lexi shone. She was confident and poised, answering questions with ease. Étienne praised her, telling her she never failed to impress him. I nodded in agr

_Catharine's POV_ I sat in my darkened study, surrounded by expensive furniture and artwork that my late husband, Reginald, had collected. I looked at his picture on the wall and felt a mix of emotions. Reginald was a rich and powerful man. We met when we were young, and I was swept off my feet by his charm. But as time went on, I realized our marriage was fake. He only cared about leaving a legacy. That's where Lexi came in. Reginald always wanted to leave a lasting legacy, and he thought Lexi was the key. He spent hours with her, teaching her about business and politics. He wanted her to take over his empire one day. But I had other plans. I felt like I lived in Reginald's shadow, and I resented him for it. I wanted power, control, and wealth. When I found out he had changed his will to leave everything to Lexi, I was furious. I remembered the day I found out like it was yesterday. I was snooping through Reginald's papers and saw the will. I felt like I'd been punche

_Lexi's POV_ I sat in stunned silence, my mind reeling from the revelation about my mother. Julian's words kept echoing in my head: "I swear to protect you with everything I have, including my own life." I felt a mix of emotions: shock, anger, sadness, and fear. My whole life, I had thought my mother was dead. But now, I know the truth. She was alive, and she wants me dead by all means. Julian's hug was still warm around me, and I felt a sense of comfort in his arms. But I knew I couldn't stay there forever. I had to face the truth and figure out what to do next. *Lexi's POV* Vivienne arrived at the penthouse, looking frantic. Julian immediately went to her side, trying to calm her down. "Vivienne, what's wrong?" Julian asked, his voice soothing. Vivienne took a deep breath before speaking. "Etienne... he's changed. He's become a monster. I overheard him on the phone, and I know he's working with your mother, Lexi." I felt a chill run down my spine. "What did you hear?" I asked, my voice shaking. Vivienne hesitated before answering. "I heard him talking about how he's going to bring you down, Lexi. How he's going to make sure you never get what's rightfully yours." Julian's expression turned grim. "I'm not surprised," he said. "I suspected Etienne was up to something when he asked to stay behind during the business trip." Vivienne nodded. "I have to go. I have a feeling Etienne knows I came here to warn you, Lexi." Julian immediately sprang into action. "I'll send two of my men with you. They'll make sure you're safe." Vivienne nodded

Elixir’s POV The night stretched endlessly before me, dark and intoxicating. A storm lingered in the air, the scent of rain mixing with the ocean breeze that drifted through the open balcony doors. The world outside my estate was quiet, too quiet, but that only made the pulse of my own thoughts louder, clearer. I had always preferred the night. It was in the darkness that true power thrived, where people’s worst fears came to life, where shadows whispered secrets that daylight tried to bury. The night had always belonged to me, just as much as it had once belonged to Alexa my sister. But Alexa had been weak. Impetuous. Too desperate for vengeance, too obsessed with proving herself. And that desperation had been her downfall. A smirk curled my lips as I shifted the weight in my arms, glancing down at the tiny figure wrapped in a soft white blanket. My daughter stirred, a soft whimper escaping her lips as her small hands reached for something unseen. I watched her, my heart tigh

Lexi’s POVI wasn’t sure why I kept coming back.Maybe it was guilt. Maybe it was curiosity. Or maybe it was because a part of me, despite everything, still wanted to believe Kayla could be saved. But with each visit, that hope faded a little more. The clinic was quiet, the kind of quiet that felt heavy rather than peaceful. It had the sterile scent of disinfectant mixed with something unplaceable—something that made my stomach turn every time I walked through the doors.Kayla’s room was at the end of the hall, tucked away from the others. A nurse nodded at me as I approached, her expression unreadable. I wasn’t family. I wasn’t even a friend. But no one ever questioned why I was here.Maybe they saw the hesitation in my steps, the wariness in my eyes. Maybe they knew that whatever had brought me to Kayla wasn’t simple.I stepped inside, my breath catching in my throat. She was by the window again. She always was.Her hair, once meticulously styled, was now unkempt, strands falling in

Lexi’s POVThe night Julian proposed, I barely slept. Not because I was restless or uncertain, but because every time I closed my eyes, I replayed the moment over and over again. The way his hands trembled just slightly when he slipped the ring onto my finger, as if this was the one thing in his life that truly mattered.I spent the rest of the night lying in his arms, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing, feeling the warmth of his body against mine. It felt like a dream—one of those rare, beautiful ones that you never want to wake up from. But it was real.I was engaged to Julian Blackwood. When morning came, the first thing I saw was the ring. She looked up as soon as I entered, her gaze scanning my face for answers. She knew.“Julian,” she murmured, her voice softer than I expected. “You’re back.”I walked over, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead before glancing at my son. He was asleep, his tiny chest rising and falling peacefully.“It’s done,” I said simply.Lexi’s expression faltered. “Victor?”I met her eyes. She already knew the answer, but she still wanted to hear it.“He didn’t make it.”She swallowed, nodding slowly. “I figured.” There was no sorrow, not really. Just an understanding. A quiet acceptance. “I guess he was too far gone, huh?”“He made his choice.” My voice was calm, absolute. “And he paid for it.”Lexi sighed, adjusting Alexander in her arms. “It’s just… a shame, that’s all.”“He would’ve never

Too careless. There was something bigger at play.Henry walked in, his usual calm demeanor slightly strained.
