“Victória Lazer, what are you doing here?” He wasn't a man with feelings, who held grudges or who liked to make life difficult for women, but Victória was different. She drugged him. And then she had sex with him. And now, she had the nerve to appear in front of him, which naturally made him indignant. But how was Victória going to explain that it was actually all a plan by her family so that they would get her mother's inheritance? Her father, grandmother, stepmother and half-sister were all against her!
View MoreIn an expensive suite of one of São Paulo's most luxurious hotels, a slender figure was sprawled on the lavish bed.
The man standing beside the bed brushed aside the young woman’s soft, blonde hair, revealing a face with unique features. Her rosy lips appeared dry.
“It’s so dry here!” she exclaimed. “I need water!”
The man beside the bed scoffed disdainfully, picked up his phone, and walked out to make a call.
“Are you coming soon? She’s in room 268, and the effects of the drug are starting to show. But remember, take some spicy photos for me when you're done.”
“Don’t worry, I’m almost there!”
The suite door closed, and the person on the phone hadn’t noticed that the girl on the bed was watching him.
Victoria propped up her weakened body as she got out of bed. A surge of unfamiliar heat burned through her body, and with the little strength she had left, she staggered out into the hotel corridor, trembling.
She knew her half-sister, Ciara, was behind this, and she couldn’t let her plan succeed.
The elevator chimed just as Stella was deciding which direction to run, and she tensed up. That person was probably sent by Ciara, so she ran in the opposite direction.
“Stop right there!”
The person shouted down the corridor upon seeing Victoria fleeing.
Victoria didn’t know how many flights of stairs she had descended, but she was exhausted. The drug was taking its toll, and the pursuer was closing in.
She had no more energy to keep running, as both legs had lost all strength.
Would she really fail to escape?
At that moment, Victoria realized the door she was leaning against wasn’t properly closed. With a simple push, she opened it and quickly slipped into the room.
The person chasing her smirked; their plan had worked. Victoria certainly wouldn’t leave that room alive.
Meanwhile, Victoria used the last of her strength to close the door and collapsed heavily onto the carpeted floor.
Her head felt heavier, and everything around her began spinning.
Her face was unnaturally flushed, though the vibrant color made her striking features even more captivating.
She gasped for breath, her mouth open. The turbulent heat inside her body seemed to drain every ounce of energy she had.
She needed water.
She needed to quench her thirst.Victoria stumbled further into the room, dazed, and suddenly tripped over something.
“Oh.”
The lights in the room were off. The curtains were tightly drawn, blocking out any light, and Victoria couldn’t see anything clearly.
Her face seemed to press against something warm.
In the darkness, a man, also under the influence of a drug, opened his eyes. His handsome features were hidden in the shadows, but his gaze was sharp, like that of a hibernating predator.
“Who are you?”
Stella didn’t know why there was a man there. His voice was hoarse and cold, devoid of any warmth, but to her, it sounded like a lifeline. Her instincts told her he had something that could help her.
She reached for his face, gently caressing it. “I’m so thirsty. Let me find some water to drink first.”The girl’s voice was soft and hypnotic. As she spoke, her warm breath enveloped the man, and a wave of heat surged toward his lower abdomen.
However, he didn’t have the strength to move at that moment.
“Who sent you here? Get out...”
The man hadn’t finished speaking when soft lips kissed the tip of his nose. A fragrance unique to the girl suddenly filled all his senses. All his muscles tensed in an instant.
Victoria didn’t know what had come over her. She didn’t feel like herself. She straddled the man’s abdomen, then instinctively pressed her red lips to his without further thought.
The man had a refreshing scent she liked—a scent full of masculinity.
She nibbled on his cold, soft lips, then moved to his chin and jawline. Her breathing was erratic, and a soft moan escaped her flushed lips.
“I feel so uncomfortable. Can you help me…?”
The man was about to say something when her lips pressed deeply against his again, silencing his words.
Her soft, fragrant tongue slipped into his mouth.Neither could see the other’s face clearly, but both felt the burning heat emanating from their bodies.
Victoria’s delicate arms wrapped tightly around the man’s neck. She didn’t know what else to do but kiss him. She buried her flushed face in his neck, letting out a painful moan.
Victoria had no idea why she felt an inexplicable trust in this man.
Maybe it was because he lay there without moving. Or perhaps it was because he hadn’t hurt her even after she kissed him like that.
But she hadn’t considered the primal instincts of a man.
As she moved to kiss him again, he suddenly trembled, flipping her beneath him and pinning her down.
In the darkness, Victoria could feel the extreme allure in the man’s cold, dark eyes as he stared at her, pulling her into an endless whirlpool.
Victoria couldn’t help but nervously swallow. Her hands slid unconsciously under the man’s shirt, her fingers gently caressing, lightly dancing across his well-defined abdomen. They seemed to have a mind of their own, moving lower instinctively...
It hurt.It was as if her body had been forcibly opened by an axe.
Despite the pain she felt, her drug-induced body only craved more. Her hands gripped the man’s tense muscles, demanding more from his strong, taut arms as her nails left scratched trails of blood on his skin.
He dropped the cup, the soft sound of porcelain against wood the only warning before his arms wrapped around her and pulled her onto his lap, nestling her against him.“Are you worried about me?”She didn't deny it. Her hands found his shoulders, her gaze downcast, her voice a whisper laden with fear.“I can't stop worrying.” You don't tell me everything. You only told me about Camila Ayres and the police... I'm so worried.Ethan's heart warmed. He pinched the tip of her nose gently.“Don't worry. If something were really wrong, I wouldn't be here, calmly taking care of business. Besides, give me a little more credit. Little things like this don't scare me.”He laughed, a low, amused sound.Does she think I'm some ordinary man? Without any skills? he thought. This is nothing. The adventure in Canada was infinitely more dangerous. The only thing I need to worry about here is the poison Ellijah will d
Ten Elijahs. A hundred. It didn't matter. No one would take her away from him. Ethan's thought was a promise of steel, forged in the fire of his possessiveness.Meanwhile, back at the hospital, the air was thick with a very different kind of darkness. The moment Victoria's footsteps disappeared down the hallway, the sick man's mask slipped from Elijah's face, revealing the calculating coldness beneath. With a gesture of contempt, he swept the photos off the bedside table, scattering them across the floor like dead leaves. His voice, now devoid of any weakness, was a whip in the sterile silence of the room:“We can't let Mrs. Carson win the design competition.”Erike frowned, confusion clouding his features.“I'm sorry, Mr. Daniels! I don't understand.”Mrs. Carson is our partner. If she loses, we lose too. Your reputation...How far would he go? Erike thought, terrified. What price was he willing to pay to po
The car screeched to a halt. She jumped out before the engine had even died, her heart pounding against her ribs, her eyes scanning the scene for any sign of uniforms, police cars, trouble.Nothing. He was standing there, unharmed. Alone.Ellijah's poisonous threat... was a lie.A tidal wave of relief flooded her, and she ran. Not caring about the stares of strangers, she threw herself against his chest, her arms closing around him like a tourniquet, an anchor in the midst of the storm.“I thought you wouldn't be back until tomorrow!” Her voice came out muffled against the fabric of his shirt.“Things didn't go as planned. We came back early,” Ethan's voice was soothing, soft and deep, as his hand found her hair, his fingers intertwining with her strands, holding her tight.“It doesn't matter! As long as you're safe!” she said, her face still buried in his chest. The money, the business... it all turne
“Please don't move, Mr. Daniels! I'll call the nurse!” he said, his voice trembling.“It's nothing,” Elijah dismissed the concern with a weak wave of his bloody hand, a performance of martyrdom. “The competition is approaching. JB is under pressure. We need to discuss our strategy. I don't want us to lose because of me.”He struggled to sit up, his body shaking from real or feigned effort, his gaze fixed on Victoria. To say she was leaving at that moment, with him bleeding and still talking about work, would be a cruelty Victoria did not possess. She was trapped.“There's no rush with the competition. We'll discuss it after you're discharged,” she said, her forehead furrowed in a mixture of concern and frustration.“I can handle it,” he insisted, stubbornness burning in his feverish eyes. She had nothing more to say. Resigned, she agreed to stay.A glimmer of triumph flashed across Ellijah
Ellijah's gaze was murderous, but his feverish body was no match for her strength. Defeated, he drank. His fists clenched at his sides, impotent rage consuming him. Vanessa had ruined everything.“It's no big deal, Victoria. Don't worry,” said Vanessa, turning to her friend with a reassuring smile.“Okay. Can you... help him up?” Victoria asked, trusting her completely.Vanessa laughed, flexing her biceps.“Look at these muscles. I was in the army, remember?”“Do you need my help?”“Don't worry. I've carried men twice his weight,” said Vanessa, and before Ellijah could protest, she hoisted him over her shoulders with impressive ease.He struggled weakly, a pathetic attempt at resistance against the woman who had just dismantled his master plan. With the strength of a vise, Vanessa immobilized his arms. Ellijah's struggle was pathetic, useless. Gritting his teeth, humiliation mixed wit
“She'll come.”The certainty in Elijah's voice was absolute, chilling. Without another word, he began to take off his wet pants and disappeared into the small room attached to the office.Erike stood frozen, the words dying in his throat. There was nothing to be said. He was just a pawn in his boss's sick game. Resigned, he turned and went to the darkroom.Half an hour later, with the photos developed in an envelope, Erike made the call.As Ellijah had predicted, the news hit him hard. A wave of guilt washed over Victoria's voice when she heard about the fever. It was because of her. For protecting her from the rain.“Don't worry about sending them. I'll pick them up myself,” she said, her mind already made up.She hung up, grabbed her purse, and headed for the elevator. The doors had barely opened when a familiar figure appeared. Vanessa. Quickly, she stepped into the elevator before the doors could close.
