Chapter Five.

"What situation?" She asked giving him a side eye.

Eduardo took a deep breath "the thing with your uncle and family, I didn't know it would end up like this, I am sorry"

Lisa didn't say anything for the longest time, she couldn't look at him, emotions were whirling inside her, she didn't even know what to say.

Eduardo sighed "I…" Lisa cut him in, " why did you do it?"

He shook his head and went back to his chair "why are did it, is my business"

Lisa scoffed, raised her brow at him " your business? My whole life took a different turn because of what you did, your business didn't affect you, it affected me, I very much deserve to know why you did it"

She was right, he had dragged her into this and he needed her help to make this lie last longer, he thought.

" My marriage to Emily isn't something I wanted, been able to get out of it for years but I couldn't run from it again, our parents fixed it and I couldn't refuse, I would be cut off from the family"

Lisa scoffed. He understand what the scoff meant, he didn't want to cut off from his family but he had her cut of from hers, he nodded and continue " it wasn't supposed to go like this actually, paid someone to object to the wedding but they didn't show up, I had to think fast and that's where you came in'' he continued " I am sorry, there was some much at stake, that I was willing to do anything"

Lisa's anger simmered as she listened to Eduardo's explanation. She couldn't believe that he would drag her into his mess without even considering the consequences for her. "You were willing to do anything, even ruin my life?" she asked incredulously.

Eduardo looked at her with regret in his eyes. "I know it's no excuse, but I was desperate. I didn't think about how it would affect you, and I'm truly sorry for that."

Lisa took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions. "What now?" she asked. "What do you want from me?"

Eduardo hesitated for a moment before answering. "I need your help to keep up the lie. We need to make it look like we're really married, at least for a little while longer. I'll pay you, of course. Whatever it takes to make it right."

Lisa shook her head in disbelief. "I can't believe you're asking me to help you after what you did. And you think money will make it right? It's not about the money, Eduardo. It's about my life, my family, my future.I barely know you and you have already snatched everything I care about, I don't know if I can trust you again."

Eduardo started saying something but pause for a minute, he was careful with his words, she was already upset and he didn't want to push it more, he needed her. " What if I can restore everything you lost?"

Lisa sat in silence for a moment, her mind racing as she tried to process everything that had happened. She couldn't believe that Eduardo had put her in this situation, and now he was asking for her help to keep up the lie. Part of her wanted to tell him to go to hell and walk away from this whole mess, but she knew that wasn't an option. She had too much to lose. " you are extremely rich but that doesn't mean you can turn back time?"

He chuckled " that's true, but I can be able to restore your relationship with your family, I would tell the world why I did this, clean your reputation and what ever you want, name it" Eduardo said, staring at her, a glimmer of hope, lit in her eyes as she consider his proposal, if she refused to continue this, she would barely survive, no one in America would hire her, she might be kicked out of college but if she accept his proposal she has a lot to gain and recover what she had lost, this was truly once in a lifetime opportunity.

You expect me to trust you after what you did?" Lisa asked, still skeptical of Eduardo's offer.

"I know I messed up, and I'm sorry for that," Eduardo replied. "But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make things right. You have my word."

Lisa sat there for a moment, weighing her options. On the one hand, she could walk away from this and try to pick up the pieces of her life on her own. On the other hand, she could accept Eduardo's offer and potentially regain everything that she had lost. It was a difficult decision, but in the end, the choice was clear.

"I'll help you," Lisa said, looking Eduardo in the eyes. "But you have to understand that I'm doing this for myself, not for you. And if you screw me over again, I won't hesitate to make you regret it."

Eduardo nodded, his expression serious. "I understand. You have my words and I always keep to them."

Lisa nodded as she got up, preparing to leave. As she made her way towards the door, Eduardo stopped her, his expression filled with confusion " where are you going?"

"Uhm we are done and have an agreement, it is time for me to go" she replied sarcastically.

"Where would you go?" He asked.

And then it dawned on her, she couldn't go back home, she didn't have any money and she didn't have any friends in time.

Reading her expression, she spoke up " exactly. You would be staying here for as long as this goes on, you can't remodel it to your taste, I have no problem"

Lisa shook her head " No, I can't possibly stay here"

"Why, can't you? Is something wrong with it?" He asked her, still confused.

She smiled and shook her head " it is not that, it is beautiful, I just can't stay here" she said firmly.

"You have no problem with the look, so why can't you stay here?Listen, as long as the world is concerned, you are the love of my life and you are carrying my child. What sane person would let a pregnant woman walk around the street? You are staying here and that's final" he said with a commanding and firm tone.

Lisa stomach grew with butterflies, she didn't even know why it did that, she shook the thought away, they had an agreement and nothing more than that. Hopefully.
