Abigail Hayes

~•~

I didn’t want to be that kind of wife who didn’t give her husband privacy, but it was obvious he wasn’t friends with the Enrico guy. I hated that he was already keeping things from me as he was a transparent man. It meant whatever secret he was keeping happened to be serious. That meant I deserved to know about it, didn’t it?

It was a new place we moved into and even George’s best friend, Charles didn’t know the location yet. Hell, Maya and my family didn’t know exactly where we were staying. I planned to bring them to visit to get to know the place, but that wasn’t the point.

Whoever Enrico was, he was most likely powerful seeing as he was able to track down George’s location. He also knew exactly when we would be back which was why he was waiting for us in front of our building.

There was also the fact that he said George was working for him. George didn’t work for anyone. He had business partners, not bosses.

It unsettled me.

That was probably what propelled my de

Abigail Hayes~•~“You’ve been so scarce since you became a wife,” Maya commented as soon as I sat down opposite her. We had agreed to meet up at a cafe because I didn’t want to stay indoors. I’d been doing too much of that recently.I still hadn’t figured out what to do with my life after marrying George.I chuckled, rolling my eyes. “You don’t see me for two weeks and you’re already complaining?”“Give me a break. For six years, I saw you every day. It’s weird living without you.”I gave her a sympathetic smile. We’d been living together since we were eighteen, first at the dorms, then we found an apartment when we were twenty. I understood her point of view. She was very used to living with me and was suddenly living alone. But then again, “You’ve been pestering me to get married and move out so you can use my room as you like.”“I was joking.” She huffed.Even if we were the same age, she always told me to get married as soon as possible because my relationships usually lasted thr

George Galanti~•~It was a boring day at work, as usual since Abby wasn’t my secretary anymore. Some days, I wondered whether I should bring her to replace my secretary and promote the current one, but she hasn’t yet decided if she still wanted to work or not.It was more than an hour before closing when my secretary suddenly called me and told me a woman was there to see me.It made me frown. If anyone wanted to see me, they had to make an appointment first and my secretary never told me to expect a visitor. My mind immediately went to Abby. She probably still had access to the private elevator and came up on her own before getting stopped by my secretary. “Did she tell you who she was?” I inquired.“She said she’s your wife.”A smile spread across my lips instinctively. I didn’t like surprises very much but if they were from Abby, I didn’t mind. In fact, I loved them. “Send her in.”“Okay, sir.” I heard her faintly ushering her in before the call was cut. When my door was pushed o

Abigail Hayes~•~There was a faint throbbing in my head and I could hear a distant movement as my eyelids slowly fluttered open. They closed immediately after the bright light shone against my eyes.Breathing out, I opened them again and tried to adjust to the light. I could hear people speaking around me but I couldn’t tell what they were talking about as I tried to make sense of what had happened. The ceiling I was staring at was all white. It didn’t look like my and George’s bedroom. Where was I and what the hell happened?“You’re awake!” Somebody suddenly exclaimed beside me, making me flinch. I turned slightly to see that it was Olivia, but as soon as she spoke, there were three other heads staring down at me; Maya, my mom, and my mother-in-law.I looked around. “Why am I in the hospital?”“You fainted, Abby!” Olivia didn’t hesitate to tell me. “We were all so scared for you. How are you feeling? Are you feeling better now? Are you having any pain? You can tell us.”“You’re talk

Abigail Hayes~•~The last time I felt this way was in my teenage days when I lost my father. In the space of three days, I’d already gone through the five stages of grief. I was at acceptance but that was because I had no choice. The light bleeding every day after I left the hospital was proof of the fact that I lost my child and it pained me every time I had to change my pad.I was demotivated. I didn’t want to do anything. I didn’t know what to do. All I did was sleep, wake up, and eat whenever George forced me to. Aside from that, I couldn’t do anything. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. None of them knew what I was going through. For the three days I’d been at home, George had been by my side. He wasn’t trying to talk to me though. He knew I needed space so he gave me space. He just stayed with me to make sure I was okay, according to him, but I knew he didn’t want me to make any foolish decisions.I finally convinced him he could go back to work this morning before he left me alo

Abigail Hayes~•~George and I knew enough about each other to be considered close, even before we properly got together, so his mother’s words came as a surprise to me.We’d been married for only two weeks but we were closer than ever and he never once mentioned the fact that the people who raised him weren’t his birth parents.“You adopted him?” I couldn’t help but ask. I was curious about George’s life. She nodded and had a faraway look in her eyes. “I must look too young to be the parent of a thirty-year-old.”I’d always thought that she was awfully young, but I dismissed it thinking she gave birth at an early age. His father, however, was sixty, even if he didn’t look a day over fifty.“I was twenty-two when I met my husband.” She explained. “We got married the same year we met because he didn’t want to waste too much time and lose me to other men. He always knew what he wanted. I conceived and gave birth the next year.”She said she understood the pain of losing a child but she

Abigail Hayes~•~George screeched to a stop, making my eyes go wide. “We’re in the middle of the road!” I exclaimed.“Didn’t you think about that before you decided to threaten me while I was driving?”“T-threaten?” I stuttered. He pulled over to the side and unbuckled his seat belt before he turned to properly look at me. “Of course. That’s a threat. What do you mean by that? Are you saying you want to leave me?”When he put it like that, it sounded bad. I just thought we needed a little space from each other so we could clear our heads. “I didn’t say that.” I defended myself. “I was just asking. Besides, my lease hasn’t expired.”George looked offended. “So you want to go back to your apartment.”I took a deep breath. When we got together, we never expected the possibility of losing the one thing that tied us together. “I’m not leaving for good.”“You’re not leaving at all.” He concluded and I stared at him in surprise.“Are you going to force me to stay?”He stared at me and a bea

Abigail Hayes~•~According to George, it was ‘bring your wife to work day’.He told me he didn’t want me to be alone at home, but I was certain it was because he wanted company. I’d thought George was doing fine, but he was just doing a great job at pretending to be fine. When I woke up at night, I saw him going through an online shop on his laptop; a shop that sold baby items. I wasn’t certain I saw clearly, but I thought I saw a tear slip down his cheeks.Unfortunately, he noticed I was awake and quickly closed the tab. I asked him if he was okay. He smiled and returned the question before we went back to sleep. I was worried but he didn’t give me the chance to ask about it so I couldn’t.George and I came to a stop in front of his secretary with his hand wrapped around my waist.“Good morning, sir.” She stood up to greet him when she saw him in front of her. “Good morning, ma’am.”Instead of returning her greetings, George said. “Take a good look at her,” he gestured to me. “She’s

Was he a secret spy?I quickly placed the gun back in the drawer and locked it, dropping the keys on the table. I didn’t think I could face George anymore. I was bad at lying and it would be obvious I was uncomfortable around him. He would ask me what was wrong and I would end up blurting what I saw. Who knew if he’d have to kill me then?Going through

George Galanti~•~I never thought there’d be a time when I would hate working, but I hated it a lot recently because it kept me away from my wife. She was so close yet so far away. It was distracting.I straightened up when the door to my office suddenly opened. “Mr. Galanti, what can I do for you this time?”I held back a laugh. This was the seventh time I was calling her into my office and it was only ten in the morning. “I don’t know, Mrs. Galanti. What can you do for me?”Abigail shot me an irritated look. “I’m beginning to regret working for you again.”“It’s been two months since you resumed. You should be used to it by now.”After months of pleading with her, Abigail finally agreed to be my secretary again, but it was part-time this time around. She usually clocked off by one so she could attend her baking classes.I was happy she was finally doing what she wanted but baking classes introduced her to more people. I didn’t know what kind of sad life he had that he had to change his name as soon as possible and I didn’t care to know his story.Whatever was wrong with his childhood didn’t give him the right to kill my father. I was more than happy when George forwarded the news to me and I forwarded it to my mother who called me to express her happiness and gratitude.Music was blasting from the speakers and I was doing a little dance while I played around with flour. I was getting better at making pastries. I could make a doughnut now but I was still experimenting with the toppings.I was so in my head that I didn’t hear it when the front door opened nor did I hear footsteps un

He could have just made one for the current house but according to him, part of it was gone and could fall anytime. I agreed with him on that.He told me that if I didn’t agree, he was going to find one behind my back, so I had no choice but to go house hunting with him.My mom was going to be mad, but I was going to emotionally blackmail her into accepting it. I would only be assured after they had settled down in a safe environment.“What are you going to do about him?” I questioned as we drove to our next destination. He knew exactly who I was talking about. She leaned toward me again, placing both of her legs on both sides of mine so she could sit on my lap. Both of us were already naked and in the water. “The walls are quite thick but you’ll have to be quiet anyway,” I informed her.She loved to act like I had a high sex drive that she couldn’t keep up with but she was even worse than me. Abigail Hayes~•~George’s mother was absolutely surprised when she saw all six of us pull up to her house. George assured her we’d be done by tomorrow; not all of us though, everyone except Olivia and my mom.My mom said they would also leave the next day and find a hotel to stay at until they figured something out. Maya then said her offer was still available, which led to another round of arguments. However, George’s mother was welcoming enough that she insisted they both stay there for the meantime. His father was also accommodating. He figured they could use this as a chance for both families to bond.I didn’t mind, but I thought they’d be inconveniencing them. George thought otherwise.Dinner was rowdy and everyone was talking at once. Olivia recounted the story about how she perceived the smell of the fire and was confused for a second. She thought her senses were playing tricks on her but as soon as she told our mom, mom told her to take her valuables outside and call the fire

George Galanti~•~All of us had to leave because we were all worried. We hadn’t even touched our food but we didn’t have time to pack them home so Charles just paid the bill and we were on our way to Abigail’s childhood home. She was worried as fuck and even if she knew her mother and sister were safe, she was still close to crying. I didn’t blame her. I would lose my shit if I found out my parents were in danger.Charles drove as fast as the speed limit would allow and it seemed like it was high enough because it didn’t take too long before we arrived at the place. The car hadn’t even properly come to a stop before Abigail was running out of it. I was worried she’d fall but even with the heels, she landed safely.Maya and I exited the car and allowed Charles to find somewhere to park. There was a fire truck in front of the house but no ambulance and I was happy about that.By the time I reached the front of the house, Abigail was in a deep embrace with her mother and sister. Abigail and I sat in the backseat.I suggested we take our own car but Abigail said it was more fun this way. I had no choice but to agree. The only reason I was even going on this double date was because Charles begged me. He didn’t want to be with her alone for fear that he would say something wrong and if he didn’t have anything to say, he hoped Abigail would keep her company.Little pussy.“Will it be too much if I open the door for her?” Charles asked from the driver's seat.Who overthought opening the car door for a lady? It was a simple gesture and basic courtesy. Why would he think it was too much? I wanted to respond to him, but luckily for him, Abigail did instead because I would have ended up insulting him. “She’d like it if you opened the door for her.”He looked at her through the rearview mi

He was still dressed in his work attire. “Are you just coming back from work?”He nodded, leaning down to kiss me shortly. “There was no use coming back when you wouldn’t be home.” I shook my head and followed him as he carried the shopping bags to our room. “Can I see them?”George was an adorable husband. I nodded. “The pink bag is for Olivia,” I informed him as I took it from the bed and carried it into the closet. There, I stripped off my clothes and put them in the hamper before taking one of Geo

I wasn’t expecting it but it was normal because everyone would notice I wasn’t with a baby anymore. I was supposed to be showing by now.Flashing an awkward smile, I responded. “Thank you I guess.” “I’m sorry we didn’t come to visit you when it happened.” Evelyn chimed in and I shot her a weak smile. “It’s okay. At least you guys are here now.” I said, trying my best not to show how uncomfortable I was with the conversation. I didn’t even need any sympathy visit from them or anybody. I didn’t even see my sister and mum for over a week when it happened. I didn’t want the happy mood to change with them reminding me of what I lost. I was trying to move on from the situation and accept my fate. “What do you guys think about
