I watched as Lily happily packed up her bag for school, a worried knot forming in the pit of my stomach. I did not like the idea of her going to school today due to recent events but she was not having it and I didn’t want her to throw a tantrum again.

“Lily,” I said, crouching down to her level, “you know, if you stay home with mommy, I’ll cook you your favorite meal and we can watch cartoons all day…”
