LISA'S POV
It took a while to recover and when I finally did, he was pouring himself another drink. I frowned, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed for freezing like that. I made my way to the stage where the lights were red and I grabbed the pole, touching it lightly and moving my fingers up and down the length. No questions asked, huh? That sounded good enough. I could do that. I stood behind the pole and held it from behind with my legs wide apart. I exhaled deeply to prepare myself.I was uncomfortable, I won't lie. There was no music, the silence was so thick that a pin could be heard. I began to hum a familiar tone in my head and I swayed my hips to it. I danced around the pole before climbing and twirling on it.I didn’t know how long I danced for but it all came to an end when his rough voice hit my ears."What are you doing?"I paused.Did he seriously just ask that? I blinked in his direction in shock and saw him staring in my direction. "What?"His silence reigned for a moment while I tried to process an answer to his bizarre question. His words made no sense, so I stepped a little closer. That man in the suit had warned me not to try to touch him without his permission. I didn’t know what that was about and stubborn as I may be, I didn’t want to find out.I opened my mouth to reply to him but he spoke again."Leave,"My heart hammered in my chest. His voice was cold like ice. "What?" I asked in a whisper. What did he mean by that? Surely it wasn't what I was thinking… right?I've never had a client send me out before. I mean… I was the best here. I was good at my job."Don't make me repeat myself,"I almost shivered at his cold tone. What was with that attitude? He had to be joking!"Listen here-''"Call me once you get back home,"The words died in my throat. He pulled his hand away from his ear and a light suddenly came up, shining on his face. I caught a glimpse of his frowning brows and his bangs before the light switched off. That little glimpse and I was already smitten by his good looks. He lifted his head to me in the dark and we stared at each other for a while."Why are you standing there?" he asked in a curious and lazy tone. He was either drunk or just not interested."Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know it was okay to keep dancing when you weren't paying attention!" I snapped through gritted teeth. This bastard had made me second guess myself!"Oh!" he sounded clueless and he looked down at the table. "I thought you were here to clear the tables… sorry-""Are you kidding me!" I half yelled, suddenly getting irritated. My night could not have gotten any worse. "Wait tables? What do you think this is?"He went silent again and I was starting to believe he wasn't going to respond but he did, "I'll pay you for your time. How much is it?"His attitude was just like all the others; proudful. Stinking. Arrogant. Stinking. Disrespectful. Stinking."Parker!" he called in a loud voice that made me recoil in shock. How did his voice go from calm and gentle to bold and fearsome? I was too stunned to speak. The door opened and I shielded my eyes from the sudden light."You called, sir?" It was the voice of the man that had led me here."Yeah… pay her,""We already made payment for her services to Madam Alex," he informed."I see," he went quiet for a moment. "Will it get to her? I know how these things work," he chuckled. It was soft and lazy."Her relationship with him seemed very flexible. I'm sure they can handle themselves," he reported like he had done his background check on me."Is that so?" he didn't sound the least interested. "It doesn't matter. Pay her directly. She should get an extra.""Did you enjoy yourself that much, Sir?""Hey, wait a minute! What the fuck do you two think you're doing?" I yelled. "I'm standing right here, you know? I can hear you!" their arrogance and nonchalance was bemusing. My client turned to me in slow-motion, "Oh! I forgot again-""What?""Sorry," he apologised absentmindedly.Had he just referred to me as 'invisible'? It sparked ugly memories that I had thought I had buried under fire and brimstone."Turn on the lights," I growled with my head down. When I heard no movements carrying out my order, I yelled this time, "I said turn on the fucking lights!""How dare you raise your voice before the boss?" Parker gasped like I had committed such a grave offence."Boss of what? Ignorance?" I scoffed. "Just because you have money doesn't mean you can treat people like shit.""Don't yell," I heard my client groan softly. Under the dim lights, I watched him lean forward and rest his head on his hand.I was pleased to know he was suffering from a headache already. His head was probably already banging and I smirked, getting ready to increase the tempo of my voice. If he was the leader of a gang, I could always beg for my life later. Maybe give him good heads till he forgets my offence. Men were ruled by their dicks."Leave this place right now," Parker whispered loudly, obeying his bosses order like a good dog."I'm sorry, what was that?" I started to yell. "I couldn't hear you over loud music-"A hand circled around my throat. I never saw him move. He was suddenly so close with his breath on my face. There was a light stench of alcohol. I sucked in a breath with my eyes wide in terror.I gulped as my breathing became harsh and my chest heaving and falling. I had brought this upon myself. This wasn't the first time that my stupid big mouth and daring attitude was putting me in trouble. The room was silent and I silently hoped that Parker would beg for my life but I didn't count on it."I said," he gruffed low under his breath that added anxiety to the pool of my stomach. My legs were shaky in my heels and I feared he would send me flying with one hand."Don't yell," he repeated in a fearsome warning tone and I found myself nodding. There were tears in my eyes and when he finally let go of me, my legs gave out. I was about to hit the table when his strong hands caught my arm and held me up.I steadied myself in under two seconds before pushing him away and making a run for it in my heels. I was so used to running that even my feet would pass on its experience to whatever shoe I was wearing.I dashed out into the hallway and I paused by one corner to catch my breath. I placed my hand on my collar bone, imagining my neck being wringed out like a lifeless chicken.I scanned the bar and I found my boss laughing with Chantel. She saw me coming first."That fast-""That bastard tried to kill me!" I yelled over the loud music. His face scrounged up in a frown and it seemed like he was having trouble believing it."That's impossible," he said. "He's never that violent."My heart almost sank, "What? Are you saying I'm lying?" I thrust my neck in his face, "I'm sure there are bruises-""I don’t see anything,'' Chantel said. "Did he really-""He's over there. I'll confront him," Madam Alex concluded and headed towards them. I followed behind him with my confidence skyrocketing."Parker!" They stopped at Madam Alex's voice. Now that we were out in the open, I saw what he really looked like. He turned around; he was handsome, had a perfect figure, wide shoulders and interesting height. The sleeves of his white button up shirt was rolled up and his tie hung loosely on his neck. His bangs sat over his forehead and his hair looked like he had been running his fingers through them.He didn't look away from my gaze. In fact, he stared at me like he was seeing something strange and wonderful at the same time. I slowed down as he started to walk towards my direction. He wouldn't dare touch me again... I hoped. He got to Madam Alex and walked past him like glass. His hands stretched towards me."What the-" I couldn't get away fast enough. He cupped my face, pulling me forward and he leaned down, crashing his cold lips on mine in a kiss.LISA'S POVI splashed the cold water on my face and turned off the tap. I stared at myself in the mirror. It was a good thing I spent good money on quality makeup.I threw on a shirt and a pair of jeans, finally calling it a night. This was too much drama for one day.I opened the bathroom door-"Tried to kill you, huh?" Chantel arched her brow in disbelief. "Yeah right.""Shut up," I wasn't about to defend something that definitely happened. "What did the boss do?""What else? He asked his assistant or whatever to send him home. But damn! That man was fine and sexy as hell-""Crazy too, not gonna lie," I made my way to the backdoor."He looked rich and that kiss-""Let's not even talk about it," I rolled my eyes. His breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were hazy. Who kisses a host that passionately? Maybe he mistook me for someone else. Had to be the alcohol."Hey," Chantel grabbed my arm and I turned to hold her gaze, "Kevin is out back," her eyes turned worried. "Be careful. He l
LISA'S POVWhile I wondered how much I'd have to dance to cover a hundred thousand dollar debt. We arrived back at the bar because I mentioned that I didn't trust him enough to go somewhere other than the bar.He said nothing to me but ordered Parker to turn the car around. We got back to the bar and the minute I walked in, I met Chantel's gaze and she threw her head back, laughing immediately.I ignored her as I led my client- now turned creditor- to the private room I ran out from a few hours ago. While he got settled in, I changed into my outfit, hating that I had to repeat the same outfit in one night.I couldn't ask him for money for payment. That would be ridiculous. I stepped into the room and once again, took my position before the pole only this time, the lights were switched on."I need to know you're actually watching me-""I am," he interrupted and went silent again. He was staring directly at me. Leaning forward with his hand intertwined and under his jaw to hold his head
LISA'S POVI finally called it a night. I had waited an extra twenty minutes and he was still a no-show. I felt a little disappointed as I squeezed the flash drive in my palm. I was looking forward to seeing him again. What face would he wear this time? The first night, he was gloomy. The second night and third night, his expressions were unreadable. I was beginning to wonder if that man could perform the simple act of 'smiling'."Well, I'm leaving," I called out to my boss who didn't bother to give a reply.I stepped out into the cold night with my low waist crazy black jeans and a hoodie. I noticed a familiar car at the next three shops away from the bar.Nervousness filled me up as I wondered if that was my man. I approached the vehicle and knocked on the passenger's window. It was rolled down and I saw no one inside."Get in," Parker's harsh voice filled my ears and he stared at me from the driver's seat. "He's waiting for you."I smirked as I pulled open the door, "Can't get enou
LISA'S POVI closed the bag and sat straight as the door was kicked open. He strode in with his long legs. He was wearing a blue three piece suit but he held his suit jacket in his hand.He probably didn't see me because he stood in his office, unaware of my presence as he continued his phone call."I'll send them to you when I can," his voice was a tad urgent but he still sounded so tired. "Just get everything she needs."Was there more of me by his side? I couldn't complain. After all, I was earning my fair share of him."Hold on, it's on my desktop,"Oh no it isn't! I jumped to my feet and hurried over to him before he could get any closer to his desk.I attempted to hug him from behind, wrapping my hands around his body when he suddenly flinched.I lost my balance and I fell on my ass, staring at him in shock. He had a glare on his face as he was suddenly on alert."Let me call you back," he said into the phone and hung up without taking his eyes away from me.I gulped as he walke
LISA'S POV"Where the heck did you go, Lisa!" Chantel yelled into the phone and I jerked it away from my ears."Settle down, girl! That yell can get me deaf into New Years'," I rolled my eyes. "I'm on a vacation-""Without informing anyone?" her tone was high and she sounded angry. "You didn't even take any of Madam Alex's calls.""Yes, yes, I know that," I rubbed my forehead and fell back on my bed. "It was a last minute vacation." I just had to disappear. After that stunt with Parker? I didn't have the balls to stay back in town.I was living well here. The escape money was enough to last me for a week and once I got a buyer for that bag, I'd be well for another week. "Miguel is worried," Chantel said and I scoffed at her silly attempt to squeeze information out from me. "Didn't things go as planned?""Like hell it did!" I cursed. Once again, Miguel was planning on keeping tabs on me. The bastard was worried I had kept the money all to myself. "Look, I just need to breathe for a wh
LISA'S POVStupid Lisa! I was both a dummy and a fool and money would surely be the death of me. I was sitting beside him in heavy silence while he stared at me.My hands were clenched on my thighs as I stared at my boots with one question roaming my mind; where was he taking me? We didn't even talk about it. I just hopped on like I had no resolve to refuse him and no words needed to be said anymore. Was it too late to ask where we were going?"What are you doing all the way out here?"My eyes moved first before my head followed. Ah shi! He was staring at me again with those heavy eyes. My chest was tight all of a sudden. It was a natural feeling now whenever he was around.More importantly, didn't Parker mention anything to him? I guess the bastard kept to his word like a true gentleman and here I was, going back on mine. What, the driver-"Parker?""No…that's not him," he interrupted. "Why are you looking for him?" His voice was calm and despite his questioning, they held no suspici
LISA'S POV"You- You're insane, Miguel!" I was shaking , sweating too under the sound of his voice. I could hear Chantel's little whimper every second. She was struggling to get away from him. Would he really go this far just to get his hands on billionaire money? I knew I was interested in it too but this was just topping the charts."And you're delusional if you think you can score that billionaire for yourself," he mocked. "Wake up, Lisa!" he suddenly growled. "We steal, wipe them clean and bounce. It's all we've ever done-""I know!""Then why the fuck are you slacking?""I really did get my hands on his stuff but his stupid guard got in the way. Why the fuck do you think I'm on a by-force vacation?" We had turned the conversation into a yelling contest and I wasn’t even sorry. He was silent, probably trying to find the truth in my words. I gulped as I noticed I was already breathing like I had run a marathon-"Argh! You piece of- Don't pull my hair like that- ah!" Chantel groane
LISA'S POVI sat still on the hospital bed as the nurse wrapped my neck in a white bandage. She was humming an unrecognisable tone but I didn't pay any mind to that. My thoughts were conflicted on how I had gotten here."Get your hands off her!"Richard's yell was like a bomb that exploded without warning. The man had flinched, pulling away from me all of a sudden and I crumbled to the floor, panting for air and pressing a hand to my neck as I coughed. He had moved with the intention to kill me. I could imagine dying on the cold hard floor of a cheap hotel. That wasn't the right way to go."The deal was not to bring anyone," the man sneered at him. "Who is she? Did he send her?"But Richard ignored the question and got in the elevator instead. He tapped on a button and the lift went down. When the doors opened, he stormed out with arrogance dripping from his steps and he didn't need to tell me to follow him."Is everything alright with you two?" The nurse asked and I blinked, staring
