“Can I come in?” He asked.

I hesitated. I knew if Kevin were here be would have called the cops, but I was curious to hear what he had to say and how he had gotten out. Had he escaped too? I thought.

I decided he was harmless, and stood aside. He came in.

“You have five minutes.” I said.

He grinned. “ Still the same.” He sat on an armchair.

“Can I get a drink? Lemonade maybe?” He asked.

“No!” I sat across him on the arm of the sofa. “ Say what you came to say and go.”

“You looking good Jan. Really good.”

“Can’t say the same about you.” I said.

Which was true. He had lost weight, and needed a haircut and a shave.

He grinned. “ Don’t worry I will clean up in no time. But I need to talk to you first.”

“How are you out of jail?”

“I could answer faster if I had a glass of lemonade.” He said.

I sighed in annoyance and marched to the kitchen. I brought back a tray, with a jug of lemonade and a glass.
