We finished our coffee and he gave me a lift to work.

“How are things with you and Kevin? You guys seem very serious?” Dad asked.

I tried to hold back my smile.

“Things are great dad, really great.”

He glanced at me. “I can see he makes you happy, and I thought you were the one going to suffer a heartbreak.”

“No Kevin would never hurt me. He is a lot different from what people think.”

“I am happy for you honey, you deserve it.”

We drove in silence. Not surprising a bouquet of roses was waiting on my desk along with a note.

For the woman who makes my heart race.

I smiled and placed them on the coffee table.

My phone rang it was Jason.

“Hey how are you?” I asked.

“Not good. I’m having a flu and you didn’t bother to check on me, I thought we were friends.” He sounded hurt.

“I’m sorry. I have been so busy with a lot of family stuff. Please forgive me.”

“ Of course I will, you are my good friend.”

“Sorry about the flu, how is New York?”
