Liv had a car which her parents had gifted to her when she was sixteen and since then she had been using it. It has being over five years now and the car had visible signs of being old. But it was still a nice little black car.
"When are we going to reach?" I asked. It had been over half an hour and we were still driving through the New York roads to reach to her friend, Wilma's place.
"Are you so excited that you can't wait to reach there?"
"You wish."
She rolled her eyes. "We're almost there." Liv replied, excitement evident in her tone. What a party animal.
She pulled up in front of a large mansion with high walls surrounding it and a black intricately designed gate which had two men in black on either side of it.
Liv unbuckled her seatbelt and glanced at me. I still had my seat belt on.
"Why aren't you getting out?" She asked while smoothing out the corners of her dress which perfectly fit her. Her dress on me was a bit big but st
"Do you need anything, miss?" I heard a voice behind me and turned towards the source. I saw a young man dressed as a waiter looking at me. He was probably the one who asked me."A glass of water would be fine," I told him. He raised his eyebrows at this probably wondering why I wasn't having a drink at this party like the other people."Are you okay?" He asked as he filled a glass with water."Yeah. What time is it?" I asked. He looked at his wrist watch for a second and looked back up at me. "It's almost ten," He said and extended his hand towards me, holding the glass of water. I took it from him."Do you know where Wilma could be?" I asked him, not sure whether he knew or not."She must be somewhere here. It's her birthday and cake cutting is yet to take place in a few minutes so she must be somewhere around here. Is she your friend?""No. She's my friend's friend. She's Olivia's friend, I mean.""Oh," He said shrugging. "I
I went to the bathroom but there was no one.I was about to leave when I heard some abnormal noises and I knew it was Olivia."Olivia?"I heard a low groan from inside. I knocked on the door again."Olivia? You there?"Nobody replied, instead I heard the toilet being flushed and the door cracked open. I immediately stepped back. Olivia tumbled out of the toilet.I caught her before she could face plant herself on the floor."Jelly!" She shouted in my ear and I cringed at her loud voice."Don't shout. And my name is Julie, not Jelly."I put her one arm around my neck and helped her out of the toilet."Where were you, July? I missed you a lot!" She said, clearly ignoring what I said to not shout. Her mouth reeked of alcohol and I stopped breathing for a while. "You know I played this dare and truth with Wimla. And I got this naughty dare to kiss a guy. And I enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyed it! Wimla was..."Before she cou
We were in such a horrible situation where I doubted we'd even be able to reach home and she was more concerned about the five inch devils."Olivia, shut up. Take those damn heels off."When she made no effort to take them off, I glared at her. "I'll let go of you. And maybe even leave you here alone. You don't want that, do you?"We both knew I was not going to do such a thing but it was worth a try."Idiot." She murmured as she bent down and took it off and carried it in her hands. If I would have been her, I would have chucked them in a bin.I saw the red lines on her feet. "Why do you wear them if they are so painful and uncomfortable?""I love them. And I don't have many heels. And they also make me look tall and sexy." She clutched her stomach."Are you okay?" I asked her.She immediately let go of my hand and ran towards the washroom. I followed her and saw her puking her guts out in the toilet. Ew.I looked
"Julie," I heard someone whisper to me. I stirred a bit before losing myself to sleep in the silence."Julie!" This time the voice was a bit louder.I opened my eyes slowly. I didn't see anything. It was dark. Or maybe I still had my eyes closed. I opened them furiously, widening them till they were the shape of saucers."Julie," I heard the same voice coming from beside me. I turned my head towards my left. There she was. Olivia."Hey Olivia. What're you doing here?" I asked, smiling a bit at her, my eyes wanting to close shut for forever. She gave me a disbelieving look."Did they hit you on your head?""What?" I asked."We're kidnapped!""Wait, what?!"I looked around, the previous day flooding in my awareness.I was in a room. Thank God Olivia was with me at least. The room was big and it was dark. I could hardly see anything. I could make out a bed in front of me and the windows were clos
I jumped out of bed too and sprang to the door when I felt her hand wrap around my wrist and pull me back."Julie, wait."I yanked my hand out of her grasp and sprinted towards the door. I tried to open it but it was closed."Shit!" I looked back at Olivia and she ran to me. She began pulling me back to bed."What're you doing?! We have to get the hell out of here!" I yelled at her. What did they do to her? Or did they hit her on the head for her to loose common sense?"Julie I know you are scared but please calm down. I'll explain everything. It's-""Shut up!" I cut her off. "Just shut the hell up! Olivia have you gone mad?""Julie, enough. You're overreacting. You're safe.""Go to hell! If you want to die here, it's fine with me. But I don't want to die, thank you so much, so bye."Before I reached the door, I heard itshandle turn slowly but silently. The door was quickly yanked open and a big man with a
"Julie, come on," The woman said to me.Before I could protest, she linked her arm with mine and dragged me inside the hall. As I had described before, the hall was really big and beautiful. Everything in it was color coordinated in white and gold. It looked elegant."Mrs. Jenson! I think it will be best if I talk to Julie-t for a bit," Olivia said, stepping towards me. My eyes narrowed at Olivia when she called me Juliet. The woman, Mrs. Jenson smiled at Olivia and nodded, "Sure.""Thanks," She said and took a hold of my arm and led me to the same room in which I woke up. I was about to ask her what was going on but she gave me a look that instantly told me to shut up. I decided to obey her.As I entered the room, Olivia shut the door behind her."Sit," She said and I walked over to the queen sized bed and sat on the edge. Olivia handed me a glass of water and sat beside me. I drank the water, realizing just how thirsty I was. I put the gla
"Julie, say 'dad'," I heard Olivia whisper in my ear from behind."D-Dad?" I stammered. I just hoped that was what Juliet's relationship was with that bald man.His eyes softened and he walked over to me before gently pulling me in his embrace. I was shocked at first, but I soon hugged him back lightly, now sure that he was Juliet's dad. It was a bit awkward because I just met him for the first time and I just didn't hug anybody. He pulled away a little, only to place a soft kiss on my temple."Juliet, why did you leave us?" His voice broke in the end. "Why did you do that? I spent nearly two years finding you! I never found you. Until now," He said, pulling me in a tighter embrace. My eyes widened at that. He had not seen his daughter for the last two years! I swallowed hard. He has still not met his daughter yet. I was not his daughter. I felt a pang of guilt hit my chest. What I was doing was wrong.I felt another pair of arms wrap around me and
"What's up?" Olivia asked as she made her way to the fluffy bed and flopped on it, bouncing slightly on it. "Ah," she moaned. "It feels like I'm on top of the clouds," She said, closing her eyes and sighing contentedly."Olivia! Shut up. We have to get out of here," I said as I skipped towards her. Her eyes shot open and she gave me a puzzled look."Why?" she asked. "It's so nice here," she gave me a sly grin, "Juliet."I groaned. "I'm not Juliet! Don't call me that for God's sake!"Olivia sat up on the bed, eyeing the door from which we came in from. She took my hands in hers, focusing her gaze on me. "Look Julie, I know you're not Juliet. You know you're not Juliet. Except for us two, nobody knows you're not Juliet.""So?" I asked, even though I knew where exactly she was going with with this. She just looked at me like I've grown three heads. "Don't you know what this means? Do you even know who the Jenson's are?"I scrunched up my
♡five years later♡I bent down to examine it through the glass. It was beautiful but so were all the others. I nudged Olivia next to me."What do you think about this one?" I asked, hoping she could help me out with choosing something. She examined it closely. "Like I said about everything you showed me, it's really pretty.""That isn't helping me to choose only one!""Julie, how am I supposed to know which one is perfect? Everyone has different tastes and what I like isn't necessarily something that Ethan might like. You know him the best so you choose one."I sighed. "Fine, fine." I looked at her hand to stare at her wedding ring glinting on her finger under the fluorescent lights."Hurry, we've been here for an hour now. I'm going to go sit down somewhere.""God, I'm sorry. Yeah, sit somewhere. I'll make it quic
"I assume she must've retaliated?"He grimaced. "Yeah, she dumped an entire pack of flour over me and it was okay because it was powder until she started chasing me around with the hose turning me into a man dough."I chuckled. "Don't hate her too much. She's still my sister." It felt weird to think of her as my sister. "Oh and is it still true that you used to envy her because she did whatever she wanted and didn't give a shit?"He grumbled under his breath. "Don't you ever tell her that.""So thatistrue.""I'm serious. You're not allowed to tell her. She'd bring it up every time we bicker.""Okay, I won't." I said, thoroughly amused."Good. So now that we've got all problems out of the way, I think you should tell me about yourself, Julie Jenson.""Well that's a hard thing to do. What do you want to know?""Just tell me everything about your life from as long as you can remember. I want to get to k
It had now being a week since I visited my aunt. I was settling comfortably into my college schedule like before and there was no difference even in my routine with the exception that I no longer woke up at five in the morning to get ready and go for a jog. I now woke up at eight for classes at nine like a sane normal college student and Olivia was proud of that. She was just happy that I'd no longer knock on her door at the crack of dawn demanding for her company while I jogged. I had to admit it felt pretty good to get three hours of extra sleep everyday. It had been a week but Ethan still did not come to meet me. I wondered if I should just lose hope and move on but it was too soon to take that decision but it would certainly be considered late if he showed up now. But I missed him. I missed him too much to the point where every brown haired guy made me think it was him, only to be disappointed.Olivia and I had been getting along pretty well. Amelia had called the
"He had already called and demanded the ransom money from your parents when his criminal friend told him about a child trafficking group who was willing to give him twice the amount he had asked for. He didn't want to risk getting traced if he asked again for a raise in the money from your parents so he managed to get two dead girl bodies who had recently died in a house fire and were burnt to the point where they couldn't be recognized and just exchanged your baby clothes with them. He staged a fake accident and the couple was informed. They thought that both of you had died and didn't want a DNA test to verify it. They couldn't bear it." I could see her hands shaking as she spoke but she clasped them tightly together."Was there no mention of all this anywhere in the news?" I was exasperated."He had kidnapped you two before others could be informed that your mother had given birth to triplets. After the couple found the two babies dead, they didn't want anybody to k
I had borrowed Olivia's car for the day. Today was important. It was something I had promised myself to check after I left the mansion. It had taken nearly three hours to arrive. It was a nice sunny Sunday afternoon with birds chirping in the afternoon sun and a pleasant atmosphere. The breeze and the faint smell of the salty sea in the air brought back fun childhood memories spent with my parents and my uncle and aunt.Today was Sunday which reminded me that Ethan was supposed to move out on this day. He hadn't tracked me down and came to talk like he said he was going to on the phone and I wondered if he was just giving me time and space or that he genuinely didn't want anything to do with me anymore. I tried remaining optimistic. There was no way he wouldn't come. On top of that he knew about me from the very beginning and still fell for me so I found no reason as to why he wouldn't find me.We called Heather the next day after returning because we were curio
"Who?" Even I thought Heather's attempts at playing dumb were pathetic."Are you done pretending you don't know anything when I know you've been helping the girl?"Heather sighed, annoyed. "Not yet, no," She grumbled."I just want to see her. Now where did you hide her?""She's not here."There was a pause and I imagined her raising an eyebrow. It annoyed me that I didn't even get a glimpse of her face. Sure, I'd seen her in pictures but I was sure it didn't do her full justice. So I had to imagine myself raising an eyebrow."She ran away." Juliet realized. She was pretty quick at catching on things."She did, just now. Let's leave her alone. Now that you're here, just blend into your role. And how the hell did you know I helped her?""Just when are you going to stop thinking that I have no brain? It's you who's sounding stupid right now by asking that question."I wondered where Ethan was. I already missed him.
I froze. For a full minute I couldn't do anything but gawk at a confused Samara."Are you okay?""Uh," I snapped out of my daze. "What did you say?""I said that a woman is waiting in the living room. She's asking for you and she looks like you. It's unbelievable. I thought you were just messing around but you two really are different people.""I-I'll be right there." My voice came out shaky. I was expecting Juliet to return but nothing had prepared me for this moment.I knew I should immediately find Heather because if Juliet was here then that meant Heather must've known that she was coming. Why didn't she warn me before? But my feet seemed to have a mind of their own as they approached the stairs. I couldn't deny that part of me which wanted to see the woman I had been pretending to be for so many months.I could see the back of her head. She was a redhead but I knew she was a natural brunette and she had just dyed her hair and cho
"That's...strange.""Very much so. Hopefully, there aren't any more clones. I've had enough with you as it is. Once I'm sure everything is under control here, I'll go in search of Juliet.""Will that be necessary? I'm all over the news. Even if Juliet doesn't keep up with the latest news she's bound to hear it from someone, especially when it's about her."Heather seemed to think it over. "Now that I have no idea where she is, that's highly possible.""And before that happens shouldn't I just disappear?""No. At least not yet. Even if she does hear about it, she'll contact me first. I don't think she'd want to come back when she's unintentionally the hot topic right now."I sighed. "What am I to say to the parents?""They're pissed. If you keep being holed up in your room, they'd probably be mad at you for being a coward and that is unlike Juliet."Taking her words into account, I promptly approached them just before lunch.
JULIE'SPOVI shot up into a sitting position once my eyes opened. I immediately regretted sitting up so abruptly because the room spun at great speeds. I squeezed my eyes shut and pressed my fingers into my temples. It took some time for me to recall the last thing I could remember which was the argument with Heather.I sighed. I was again torn between what was the right thing to do and what I was forced to do.I noticed an Advil on my nightstand. I immediately chased it down with water, grateful to whoever put it there for me because my headache had just started to set in.The atmosphere at the breakfast table was tense. I had woken up late and everyone had already had their breakfast. Ethan had left for work and I regretted not being able to catch him before he left.I didn't remember much from last night after my argument with Heather. I just hoped I hadn't done anything stupid but if looking at my parents
