TRINITY'S POV While I waited for the engineer—the receptionist had directed me to after her failed attempt to strike up a conversation with me—to complete the finishing touches on my brand new phone, I felt the anger returning back. It wasn't as if my anger towards Vanessa had left but at least it had subsided after I had ravished a box of doughnuts and two large glasses of milkshakes. But sitting in a room, bored to death as my feet swelled was not the way I had expected my Saturday to go. "Aren't you done yet?" I inquired firmly, making sure my voice was loud enough for him to hear over the annoyingly loud music that was blasting through the speakers in the room. If there was one thing I hated more than Vanessa, it was noise and waiting followed closely by and annoying as the situation was, both of them were in full motion. The man reduced the volume of the music, gave me a cheeky smile before answering in a way that made my skin crawl, "Yes, ma'am." He gave me a quick wi
TRINITY'S POV "What's going on, Samira?" I demanded, fixing a glare on my face when I noticed she was intentionally stalling. "You know I don't like waiting." It was something she was very much aware of but as usual, her stubbornness wouldn't allow her to adhere to the not so simple rules that surrounded our agreement. "Alright, fine," She finally said in resignation. "I'll tell you about the magnificent discovery I have made." Once again, I felt the cockiness in her tone but I decided to not say anything concerning it. The last thing I wanted was to rile her up before the information I clearly needed had gotten across to me. Resisting the intense urge to yell at her to hurry up, I got out of bed instead and made my way to the kitchen. Pregnancy cravings were something else and at the moment, all I wanted to do was to pop bread filled with peanut butter into my mouth. As I prepared my makeshift sandwich, I noticed Samira was taking her time with the disclosure and as displeasi
VANESSA'S POV "Thank you so much, Vanessa," The chairman echoed his wife's words of appreciation as he moved closer to where we both were. "You've been a blessing to me and my family, Vanessa," he reached out to enclasp Rose's free hand with his as his eyes held mine. "I honestly don't know how to repay you for all you've done." I was about to tell him to stop thanking me that I had not done anything significant when the door creaked open and the doctor walked into the room, wearing a broad smile on his face. "How are you feeling, Madam?" He beamed at her, with pride fixed all over his face. Rose smiled weakly, peeling her eyes from her husband's face and directed her attention towards the doctor. "My family is here with me, doctor," She answered softly, "There is absolutely no reason for me to feel anything but complete gratitude and I’m perfectly fine." The chairman leaned forward, planting a kiss on her forehead as I moved to the side to give them some space. It felt goo
VANESSA'S POV I had no idea I was squeezing the phone in my hand until a warm hand circled around mine and I lifted my head up to meet Rodri's face, which had concern plastered all over it. "Are you alright, Vanessa?" He quickly asked, as he propped himself on top of the pavement, staring at me. "Yes, I'm fine," I hastily responded, withdrawing my hand from his, while I used the other hand to tuck the phone back into the bag. "Are you?" I asked instead, attempting to shift the conversation away from myself. I didn't feel good about lying to him but I couldn't also tell him what was actually going on. The look on his face was screaming doubt but he didn't probe and I silently thanked him. "Yes, yes," he finally said, leaning forward to grab hold of my hand again. "Everything is fine, mama," He added with relief all over his face. "Everything is fine." I placed my second hand on his and gave him a light squeeze. There was no doubt that there was a lot going on for me with the
RODRI'S POV The moment I pulled into the driveway and switched off the ignition, Vanessa reached for the seatbelt and unclasped it, swinging it off her body in quite a haste. Removing the seatbelt and helping her out of the car was my job but it seemed like she had no need for my services at the moment. My eyes followed her movements in surprise as she propped open the car door a few seconds after she had rid herself of the seatbelt and carefully placed one foot out. She swung her bag over her shoulder as she attempted to move out of the car's confinements all by herself. "Let me help you." I called out gently as I hurriedly opened my side of the car and jogged around to her own side of it. "Why are you doing this all by yourself when I'm here?" I asked with confusion masking my face as I made to help her but retracted my hand when she gently shrugged it off. "It's fine, Rodri," Vanessa answered firmly, balancing both feet on the ground as she finally but carefully got out o
TRINITY'S POV Reaching out to Michael Sterling was most definitely important but taking a long bath was also a necessity. With one swipe upwards, I tapped on the Do not disturb icon and tossed the phone on the bed. Samira was due to arrive with news but I needed a clearer head to process it. A deep sigh of relief escaped through my lips as I sank into the bathtub, elated that I had gone through the trouble to run myself a bubble bath. My appearance had always been topmost priority for me but with everything that had been going on with the pregnancy and Rodri, the last thing I had cared about was my body. Sweet alluring scent of lavender of filled the bathroom as I picked up the beauty soap—that had come recommended by Vanessa's beautician through Samira—and applied it on a soft sponge till it formed a lather. Another sigh of pure content left my lips as the sponge touched my delicate skin. Usually, I had my bubble baths whenever I had an appointment with Rodri and doing it now
VANESSA'S POV Rodri's questions echoed in my head as Samira handed me my drugs and I felt guilty for not answering him. The ride home last night had been chaotic for me, my mind kept on drifting back to the conversation I had with my miserable father. For some reason, I couldn't shake off the feeling that someone close to me had given him my number. Mum was completely out of the question since I knew she would do anything to protect me from him. She had talked about his threats and how he had tried to get her to give my location up but she had firmly stood her ground. I was a hundred percent certain she had not aided him, then who had? Well, the calls had stopped after I had turned my phone off in the car and then back on after bathing and having breakfast. Knowing my father very well, I knew it was just a matter of time before he started calling again but this time around, I was ready to block his number once again. The last thing I needed was someone stirring up the pot I w
TRINITY'S POV "Hello, who's this?" A gruff male voice poured out the speaker as I tapped on the loud speaker icon and placed the phone on my thigh. The voice sounded oddly familiar but I wasn't about to conclude it was who I was looking for without asking the proper questions. "It doesn't matter who I am," I answered monotonously, making sure my voice was as clear as it was firm. "What matters is what I have for you and if you're the right person to receive this priceless information." I could almost see the look of confusion on his face. There was silence for a few seconds, before he responded in a more firmer voice than I had used. "What kind of information could you possibly have for me?" The question was laced with a hint of amusement but oddly, I wasn't upset by it but rather intrigued. Compared to Vanessa, this man was bold and smart. I knew I had to poke his balloon a little bit to get his attention. "Something that would prove to be quite useful for you, Mr Sterling."
