Author's POV
John dropped the CD back into the drawer and ran his hands through his hair. So much talk for so little. He couldn't reveal the contents of the CD to the press, they would be within Madeline's reach. The chances that Adam would see them before Madeline tampered with them would be low.
And besides, something as huge as that? Madeline would know he was responsible for it. Especially since he had handed her the flash drive saying that was the original copy.
The thing was, John wasn't stupid. When he had gone to Adam's mother's birthday party, he had gone with the sole aim of finding his way back into Madeline's life. He couldn't exactly come back begging to be in her life. That would have proven suspicious and besides he didn't think he could do that without losing control and doing something like bash her head against the wall.
And so he had gone w
Adam's POV"It's late Mr Stone," Lillian groaned, pushing the door to my office, a tired look on her face. "I could swear I have been pushing buttons around forever!""You can leave if you want to Lillian," I told her, tearing my eyes off her disgruntled face and focusing on the market analysis before me. I had so many projects on the line, but the market didn't seem like it would get any easier to understand.I could see the worry etched on Lillian's face as she hesitated by the door. It was clear that she wanted to leave, but duty kept her rooted to the spot. Not that I wanted to keep her here any longer. But the stocks, and I needed important files that only she could access because she had arranged them in the first place. She had to know that I would disturb her with calls if she left at such a crucial moment. With a heavy sigh, she finally spoke, "I'd like to stay a little longer, i
Adam's POV"You cheeky bastard!" I yelled, jumping on my feet, just as the same time Anabelle screamed."Micheal!"The man at the door laughed, tossed his head back as if he hadn't done something that funny in a long time. Anabelle launched towards him, wrapping him in a hug."Step away from the asshole, Anabelle," I said, darkening my eyes as I took steps towards him.Micheal grinned wolfishly as I approached. He always looked like he was kidding. His eyes were a proud slant, blue like the fucking sky and just as teasing. He always looked like he knew something you didn't. Or at least he liked to pretend that he did."Wanna fight, jackass?" He taunted, undoing the buttons of the damned pink shirt he wore. He must have chosen to wear that on purpose."Of course," I said dar
Madeline's POV"Squat, squat, lunge, you go girl!" The commentary for the exercise I was following on TV was downright annoying.I paused for a minute to glare at the crazy bitch jumping up and down the screen, claiming to do lunges. Ah crap, I really have time for this? The instructor was dressed like a slut. She had a rather tiny bra to cover her huge boobs and some bumshot for workout clothes. And then she made those weird stick your ass out movements whenever she did lunges and squats."Is this the exercise that's supposed to make me feel confident?" I chuckled, reaching for my bottle of water. "I might as well go back to running."I hadn't done my exercises in a while. A major reason would be because I had been so busy trying to get right into the Stone Foundation. And now that all that hard work was paying off, Isabella Stone was in
Madeline's POVSlut! I knew she was always pretending. Can't believe we trusted her.My daughter named her her role model at a talent show last week! I am so annoyed. The comments on several videos and pictures that had my face on them were annoying as fuck. I gritted my teeth reading through the comments, hating what it had come to.This was all Avila's fault! She had caused the fucking ruckus! Everyone had seen the video of her attacking me and it annoyed the shit out of me that no one was blaming her for smacking me right in the face. What the hell was their problem?! They all were acting like they had never done a thing wrong in their lives. Fucking hypocrites!I could feel my blood boiling as I scrolled through the endless string of comments, each one more hurtful and causti
Madeline's POV"Hello John," I murmured through the receiver."Hello homewrecker," John replied and I could definitely see him laughing or grinning. I'd bet he found my predicament quite hilarious at the moment."Quit it," I hissed through my teeth, angry at the way he'd behaved. How could he call me that? Homewrecker?! All because of a stupid woman who.knew nothing more than shoving her hands in people's faces."Oh come on," He taunted. "Don't be a spoilsport. You should see all the names you're called. Some are quite colorful. And some are just plain terrible. Once again America has demonstrated its lack of intelligent life.""I guess that makes you stupid, just like the rest of us," I scoffed. Why had I bothered calling John? He was a dumbass."I wouldn't be so quick to judge," John chided. "You know me
Adam's POV"Well that went well," I grumbled, stepping out of the boardroom with mother in tow. She had a grave look on her face. One that she had through the entire meeting, even when she had spoken about her decisions.I couldn't blame her. She was shaken. I hadn't seen the news until Mother had rushed into the boardroom a few minutes before it started, looking like she had seen a ghost. She looked white as hell. I didn't like it. Hell thinking about it now as we walked down the hallway towards my office, made me feel queasy. I had been terrified when I had seen her look all pale and thrifty and then I had been even more terrified when it looked like she couldn't speak."Mr Stone? The meetings with the marketing and publicity team?" Lillian called as soon as we reached my office. "Oh hello Mrs Stone,""Hi Lillian, how are you doing?" Mother g
Tom's POV"Where is the report from the design team?" I asked my pathetic excuse of a secretary. She trembled before me as if I held a knife in one hand instead of a document."Ah, it's... It's on the way,"I frowned. "What the hell does that even mean?""I mean," she blubbered. "I had asked the design team and they had said they would send it in as soon as they could.""And I'm guessing that isn't soon enough? And quit shaking like a damned fish!”She flinched at my sharp words but managed to stammer out, "I can... I can call them again if you want, sir."She was useless. She ought to have called them a long time ago dammit. What the hell had I hired her for? I knew I should have gotten a male assistant.I waved her off impatiently. "Do that. And make sure th
Tom's POV"I don't understand what you're saying,"I was in Finn's hideout. The gnarly one that was found downtown New York. The same one that made my skin crawl every single time I walked into it. Not because it repulsed me. But because it reminded me too much of the past. The past before Tom Harrison that got married to Eve. It wasn't a very sightly one. And I hated anything that reminded me of that past. Anything like the tall buff men standing at the door, laughing among themselves behind me.They had laughed the same way when I stepped out of my car and walked into the house. As if they knew something I didn't know. I didn't like the feeling that was caused in my stomach. Made me feel queasy and weak, like a fucking pathetic fool. But the last thing I was, was pathetic. I had sacrificed so much to get to where I was. I had done all I
