Eve's POV
Turns out we weren't going far at all. Anabelle had listened and I couldn't be more grateful.
"Found this place while I was trying to do a U-turn," Anabelle explained as she swerved into the car park. It was a mini cafe named Mortys. It was so cute and I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed it along the road. I had lived in that estate for some years.
Granted I didn't go out much, but that didn't mean I shouldn't have noticed a cafe by the street.
"I'm sure you've come here sometimes," Anabelle mumbled, looking apologetic. "I just wanted a place where we can see the estate gate from a distance because I know you'll spend the entire time worrying about getting home unscathed."
"I never knew this place existed," I chuckled at the look of horror on her face. "Thank you for considering my anxiety though.".
"How do you no
Author's POVIt was easy, he decided, running his hand on the rim of the glass as he watched the people.of New York jump and dance to a song that literally had no lyrics and was all rhythm. It was easy to fool humans. To make them yearn for something right within their reach. It was easy to make them do one's bidding. As long as one knew how to and what buttons to press. There in the crowd from the height where he stood, he could hear the chatterings, the laughter, the gossiping friends and those who were drunk as hell. He could hear everything.Yet Micheal Hamilton felt nothing.Nothing for the humans lying down around the place, drunk, lost and looking for an excuse to live. He felt nothing for the bartenders who had to weave through the crowd of hungry, thirsty drunks while making sure the drinks remained in the glass cups they hoisted
Author's POVThe man dropped dead, his body hitting the ground with a thump. There were several other bodies scattered around him and they all had a clean shot to the head.It was a cold night. The wind whipped around Micheal's jacket as he stared down at the bodies sprawled on the floor. This was the heart of New York city. A place with tall skyscrapers that looked like they would kiss the sky.He stood on one of them, dressed in a hooded black coat and with a sniper set up, glaring into the distance."Target confirmed dead," The earpiece in his ear rang with someone's voice."I know, Andy. I killed the bastard," Micheal said dryly, feeling annoyed.Maybe it was the alcohol in his system. He had taken bourbon because it didn't make him tipsy easily. But it seemed it made him feel his emotions in a h
Adam's POV"Good morning Mr Stone!"Paula. Her voice rang through the house and I groaned. She had been way too active ever since she had come back from her break. I tugged at my tie, keeping a straight face as I knotted it in the mirror. Was she always this active? I didn't remember her being this active. Hell half the time I forgot she was there. She was always so quiet and demure and in the background. But lately all I had been getting were yells and loud clashing of pans and shit in the kitchen. I hadn't said a word because I thought that perhaps she felt awkward for her behavior the last time. But it was getting too damned much and I was close to the end of the fucking rope.I gave the tie one final tug, satisfied with how it looked and walked out of the bedroom. Right there in the hallway, not so far from my bedroom was my maid Paula
Adam's POVBy the end of the day, I was tired. I sat in my office, staring at a document without seeing a single thing. After all the hard work I had done in the past week, one would think my work should have lessened considerably. But more and more work piled up.I glanced at my watch. It was the last six. Dinner was at eight with Mother and Anabelle. My sister had insisted that she would go with me. I had a niggling feeling it was because of Matt. She hadn't seen him in a while, I was sure. Unless, they'd been sneaking around meeting each other. I paused at the thought and laughed. Matt would never do that. He always looked like he was terrified of her.But he likes her. You know that, a voice in my head nagged. You saw the way he looked at Anabelle at the mall.I shook my head, not willing to accommoda
Adam's POVAnabelle's words were jarring.'You're just as selfish as father'"Selfish?" I hissed, storming towards the mirror. "I had stayed away because I didn't want to be selfish, dammit! I had stayed away because I didn't want to be like you!"The reflection that stared back at me was his face. The hair. The eyes. It was all my father's!"I have lived everyday, every single day, trying not to live like you did! And yet I cannot escape you! I can never escape you, you bastard!"I could swear he grinned at me. He must be feeling so fucking triumphant. He'd passed his stupid legacy to me and here I was suffering for it all! I wanted a woman that wasn't mine. That wouldn't be mine! I wanted her with a madness that consumed me yet I stayed away. But she waited. Anabelle said she waited for me. For me.
Eve's POV"No," I replied, trembling as I tried to keep still. It was way too early to be on the phone. It was five in the morning. Tom was asleep in bed, he had come home late last night as usual. I tried to sneak out of the bed quietly. Left undisturbed he ought to sleep for at least an hour more. The phone vibrated in my hands and I clutched it tightly, sneaking out of the bedroom. Only when I was in the kitchen did I allow myself to breathe easy."Why," it was a simple straight and direct question and yet it made me giggle. I clamped a hand over my mouth, trying to be as quiet as possible as I texted back a reply."It's early. Tom's still around. I can't call now Adam,""When can you!?"Another giggle and I could feel the sensible part of myself glaring daggers at me. What the heck was wrong with me? Oh who
Adam's POV"I'm sorry," I muttered over and over, ignoring the squeeze in my chest. The ache that deepened and spread to every fiber of my body.I hadn't expected to hear her cry. She sounded so weak. So fragile."I'm sorry baby,"That only made her cry harder and I felt like a jackass. I was in the office, ready for another day of work. But hell I had been excited since when I'd woken up. Of course it had been crazy to think that I could call her that early. But that was the problem. I hadn't been thinking. Once she'd texted back, I'd just wanted to hear her voice as soon as possible. It had been hell waiting. It was past nine and yet it felt like I had waited for a long long time. And though hearing her voice was worth the wait, I wish she wasn't so sad."I should have called. I know. I'm sorry. I have n
Adam's POVMy phone buzzed for the hundredth time that morning. It was barely eleven in the morning and after spending the first three hours of work stuck in my office appending signatures on certain charity donations, after the messy bit with Madeline and John two years ago, I'd made sure all payments connected to the company were appended by me.I didn't want to wake up to see half the money in my accounts gone due to some negligence of some sort."And here are the designs,"I looked up at the projected screen to see a couple of designs flipping on the screen. Here I was again, stuck in another meeting with my damned phone buzzing like crazy. Why had I taken it in the first place? I fished out the device from my chest pocket to see who kept sending the messages. I had taken the phone in for one reason only.
Eve's POV"Madam?!"Ah crap. I snuggled deeper into my husband's arm, wishing Nuren would disappear. Why on earth was she at our door?!"Madam?! Madam you have to wake up!"No I do not!"No she does not!" Adam yelled groggily, hugging me tighter. He must be mad at her for running our sleep as well."But she has to!" Nuren said stubbornly."Ignore her," I mumbled to him, running my hands over his skin.He hummed in response. "It's a fucking Saturday. We ought to be allowed to sleep in,""Not like
Eve's POVGolden. He was all I could see. All I could feel. His scent drove me heady and aching with desire. I gripped the counter, hanging on, waiting, anticipating.Cold air whipped against my exposed skin as he yanked down the dress and tossed it aside. His breathing was ragged as he trailed kisses down my arched back, to my ass.He let out a hiss, smacking the cheeks, sending painful thrills up my spine and down to my pussy."Adam," I moaned, pushing against him. "Oh please, please."‘Ah fuck, I love it when you beg," he mumured huskily, giving me another smack. Heat pooled between my thighs and my juices spilled down my thighs. Another smack and soon he had me writhing and mewling begging him to give me what I wanted. What we both wanted."So fucking eage
Adam's POVI watched Eve walk side by side with her mother on the patio. It had taken a great deal of work and patience to convince her mother to come. I had to send the video of Tom molesting Eve to her and that seemed to change everything. That seemed to reveal the truth. They seemed fine now, happy. They had hugged and held each other for hours, weeping buckets while I stood there watching. It tore me to bits, seeing her cry. But she needed it. I knew that."You did good," Mother said, joining me on the balcony where I stood. "I'm sure you've made her very happy.""Thank you mother," I murmured while taking a sip from my brandy. "That was the goal.""Oh," my mother arched her brow in a manner that told me she had something else to say. "And the goal
Eve's POV"Wake up Eve,"A pair of lips teased and tickled my ears. I moaned, melting deeper against his touch. His very familiar touch."Mhmm," I purred, moaning softly as his hands stroked my arm."Are you up, my pet?"Oh I was . I was now. I had spent the past few days in Adam's arms. But as much as I enjoyed his presence,I feared that it would all end. I tried to push away those thoughts, telling myself that I was just being paranoid. As I opened my eyes, I saw his face looming over me, a smile playing on his lips. It sent a shiver down my spine and a soft sigh slipped from my lips. Adam leaned in closer, his eyes darkening with desire. The air between us crackled with tension.“Hey,” I whispered.“He
Eve's POVAdam drove us down to his house. Nuren had cried her eyes out when he had announced to everyone else that he was taking me with him. With the way she had cried, you would think Adam was carting me off all the way to the moon. But I was sure she was only too happy for me.The drive was quiet. And yet it felt so... Peaceful. The days after the incident at the warehouse had felt like that. Slow and peaceful and it was good.In the meantime. His house... Scratch that, his mansion was huge! The gate creaked open as we approached, revealing a long driveway lined with blooming cherry blossom trees. The mansion loomed ahead, its grandeur taking my breath away. Adam guided the car to a stop in front of the massive oak doors, and I stepped out, feeling small against the backdrop of opulence.“I thought y
Adam's POVFour days. They passed by in a blur. I couldn't remember much about what happened, but I could remember how I felt every single second.Afraid. Terrified. Devastated. Nothing had prepared me for what I had seen. Nothing had prepared me to lose Eve.When Tom had shot her, I was pretty sure I went mad. It had taken Micheal and the police to pry me off a bloodied Tom by the time I was done. The ambulance took its damned sweet time to arrive so while I called the pilot to the private jet, Micheal had checked her wound and helped do first aid. And I had held her in my arms on the flight home.Pale. She grew pale rapidly. Her pretty skin had lost its color until she looked so drained it terrified the shit out of me.I could feel the weight of her in my arms, her breath shallow and weak against my chest. Panic surged thr
Author's POVWell duty called.Micheal Hamilton sped down the road that led outside New York city, a happy grin on his face. One would think he was on his way to attend a freaking birthday party with how excited he looked."Will you stop grinning like that?" Adam who sat in the passenger seat said with a concerned look. "It's fucking creepy man."Micheal chuckled and took a sharp turn at the same time, earning a glare from his best friend. It had been a while since they left Isabella Stone mansion and frankly he had expected Adam to rain down his questions.Instead, his best friend behaved as typical as anyone would expect Adam Stone to. He sat in the passenger seat quietly, occasionally glancing at him. If Micheal had to guess , he would say Adam was trying to connect the dots and figure out who or what he was exactly.
Adam's POV"Your mother says, your little miss Eve is hanging around somewhere,"Those were the first words Micheal said when I met him at the gate. He had the damned cocky grin on his face as if something permanently amused him."Perhaps I do," I chuckled, slipping my hands in my pocket. "With that grin on your face, I'm not so sure I want you to meet her.""Oh please, I have to. I need to know the woman who makes you do the craziest of shit," Micheal crackled, walking ahead of me into my mother's house."Try not to say shit when you meet her,""Shit like what?" he asked innocently and I just knew he was going to try something crazy when he saw Eve.We stopped by Mom's study to say."Hello, boys," Mom greeted us with a warm smile. She looked
Tom's POV"That bastard!" I spat as I scaled down the wall with Eve, gritting my teeth in disgust.I had watched him stroll with her. As if she were his. As if he had the right to.Now it all seemed to be clear. To be so fucking clear."Take her to the spot," Barlow ordered, jumping in right after me. "I'll signal the men."After a whole damned argument session with Barlow, he finally agreed to help. But what could possibly be much more valuable to Adam Stone? If we could get him to take back the charges and then say he had come up with the fake proof and lied that we were trafficking then everything would be solved. There was nothing the word of a billionaire could not accomplish. But the problem however had been discovering how to make Adam Stone give in. I had snuck into his mother's hou
