Not every mistake deserves a punishment

Adam's POV

"Well that went well," I grumbled, stepping out of the boardroom with mother in tow. She had a grave look on her face. One that she had through the entire meeting, even when she had spoken about her decisions.  

I couldn't blame her. She was shaken. I hadn't seen the news until Mother had rushed into the boardroom a few minutes before it started, looking like she had seen a ghost.  

She looked white as hell. I didn't like it. Hell thinking about it now as we walked down the hallway towards my office, made me feel queasy. I had been terrified when I had seen her look all pale and thrifty and then I had been even more terrified when it looked like she couldn't speak. 

"Mr Stone? The meetings with the marketing and publicity team?" Lillian called as soon as we reached my office. "Oh hello Mrs Stone," 

"Hi Lillian, how are you doing?" Mother g
