Madeline’s POV
Thirty minutes.
That was how long I had to watch that bitch cling to my man in that damned restaurant or cafe or whatever the hell they were in.
I couldn't care less.
I couldn't hear a thing. Partly because I sat in my car, parked on the opposite side of the road, watching through the glass walls. Partly because my heart pounded too loud in anger. I couldn’t see them clearly. Because I was too far off.
What was Adam doing with her? I had foolishly gotten carried away with the press and their constant attacks thrown at me, I had forgotten all about the stupid bitch who had managed to snatch Adam right from beneath my nose.
Eve Harrison.
“Damn her!” I hissed, slamming my fist on the wheel repeatedly. “I'll kil
Eve's POVI coughed, grasping my throat, trying to breathe. My vision was blurry, my head felt light and overall I felt like I was close to passing out. My body quivered and my knees shook and I found myself falling towards the ground again.Until strong arms caught me.I had just left Adam not quite long. He had dropped by quickly to see me and I had wanted to show him some of my paintings. Things had been a bit awkward at first because I couldn't stop thinking about his promises to get me away from Tom. But all he had to do was give me a hug and my worries melted away.Being with Adam was wonderful. For a few minutes, I could forget that I had spent the last ten years shackled to an abusive husband, living more like Rapunzel locked in a tower. I could forget the pain that came with being married to Tom. I could breathe easily.&nb
Adam’s POV“Eve?” I called, frowning at the sounds that reached my ears through the car radio. Was she crying? What on earth had happened? I had left her some minutes ago, watched her walk through the estate before driving away from the cafe. Hell, I was still on the road. And everything looked fine to me.Had her husband returned from work? Had he hurt her?“A-adam,” she hiccuped and I felt my heart race faster. Without thinking, I turned the car around and headed back for the estate, all the while trying to get her to tell me what exactly was wrong.“Eve… Eve, baby, breathe okay? I'm on my way, just breathe.”“I… I was so scared,” she cried,She was scared? That meant whatever happened had passed.
Tom's POVNothing in the world could have prepared me for the sight before me. I blinked, pulling my forehead into a frown as I peered through the windscreen. Was that Adam Stone with Eve or was I hallucinating shit?!The day had started pretty annoying anyways. I had left early for a meeting only for the bastard I had a meeting with to stand me up after waiting two hours. If I hadn't needed his company's investment and couldn't afford a pull out at the moment. He gave some flimsy excuse and if that was supposed to pacify me, it fucking didn't. I had spent the night with Barlow trying to make another delivery and also trying so hard not to rip his head off.The bastard probably still felt that I didn't know what he had done. That he had tried to rip me off and I was clueless as fuck.
Adam's POVMy hands trembled as I drove. They shook for a million reasons. But mostly for Eve.The look in Harrison's eyes had been unsettling. Especially when he looked over to Eve. I could see the malice, I could forsee what he wanted to do to her and I had been so fucking close, to grabbing Eve with me and driving off with her.But what would that have solved? You could have protected her, my mind taunted. Some man you are."It would have caused a scandal!" I growled at no one but myself. "It would have caused nothing more but trouble. No one would understand that Harrison was a major bitch who beat up his wife. All they would be concerned about would be why me, billionaire Adam Stone, had an affair with Eve in the first place."Fuck, it felt even more annoying t
Author's POVJohn had done it."When can I move in?" The man before him, with the flashy blonde hair and green eyes, was a rich politician's son who needed a house to throw his wild secret parties. If John had to guess what kind of parties, he would bet they were orgies.Rich people had so much money and time in the world, they could dream up all the disgusting things they wanted and could bring them to life.Whereas he?Well he wasn't sure what he could do now. He had wired the rest of his money to a foreign account. He had sold the house too. Sadly to the pompous kid before him.John glanced down at the kid's tattered jeans and designer hoodie. Another habit that seemed to plague rich kids. They had a terrible sense of fashion. Not like he was
Madeline's POVThat bastard. That grimy little bastard.I groaned as I dragged her bad leg down the lonely road. Blood dribbled down my face. My skin was seared with burns from the heat and I could swear my hair smells burnt. It had been a close call. Hell, I couldn't recall how I had escaped from the damned house, the whole shit was blurry in my mind and all I could see behind me was fire and smoke. And possibly a dead John. You killed him, my mind accused. You killed him, Madeline. Not the first time, and at this rate, it certainly wouldn't be the last. I just had to get out of here first. I could hear sirens in the distance and considering the road I took was rather lonely, if the police caught on to the trail of blood I was making, they would be on me in an instant. And you
Eve's POV"Ouch!" I hissed, as the burning spirits touched the wounds on the side of my head. "Nuren!"My maid glared at me. "You have to sit still, Madam! And I have to clean the wounds or you'll get infected.""I can't have that," I mumbled."Good, so you will remain still, yes?"I bit my lip, trying to keep still as she tended to my wounds. The wounds Tom had inflicted with his fists. It had been barely a day since Tom found me outside the gates with Adam. And of course, he hadn't been too happy. I suppose I was grateful that he hadn't found the real reason why I was out there with Adam and was just mad that I was out of the gates. If he knew what was between me and Adam, I was doomed. I would go through way worse pain than I did yesterday.Nuren finished clean
Eve's POV"Ready?" I whispered to Nuren when Tom's car zoomed into the garage. She shook her head. "When I said to make him pay, I didn't mean go get yourself killed too!"I chuckled and shook my head. "He won't kill me, Nuren. He'll just beat me to the point of near death and dump me in the basement. We've been through this several times.""I do not agree!"It was night. After the meeting with Mrs Stone that afternoon, I couldn't wait to be out of here. To be away from Tom's clutches forever. My heart pounded loud and strong in my ears, drowning my thoughts. I couldn't hear myself think. And if I were to be honest, I preferred that very much."Your plan to provoke him to anger is not safe!" Nuren hissed.Tom's footsteps reasoned closer and I felt my chest tighten. I'm
