Emily's POV

My alarm clock was going off again, blaring its irritating noise. I groaned and pulled my hand out from under the covers to turn it off. I was so not ready to start the day. I just wanted to stay in bed and sleep for a few more hours.

I hated setting alarms. They always woke me up from a deep sleep and made me feel groggy and grumpy. But today, I had to set one so I wouldn’t miss the court wedding. I agreed to sign a proxy marriage for Olivia, but it wasn’t because my mom had asked me to or because I wanted to help Olivia, She had always been rude to me, and I had no desire to help her out. But I had my reasons for doing this.

I got up and took a quick shower, then dressed in a simple but flattering outfit. I took my time doing my hair, making sure it looked just right. As I looked in the mirror, I gave myself a small smile. I looked good, and I felt ready to take on the day. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door, feeling confident and prepared.

Ethan's POVI buttoned my shirt, surveying my reflection in the mirror. I looked sharp and professional, ready for the business meeting I had to attend. I ran a brush through my hair and headed downstairs to the kitchen, determined to get a cup of coffee before I left. As I walked into the kitchen, I heard the sound of someone moving around. I wondered who it could be. I was engrossed in my phone, reading a message about an urgent matter, when suddenly I bumped into someone and felt something hot and wet splatter onto my shirt. I looked down and saw coffee soaking through the fabric. I cursed under my breath, realizing that I didn't have time to change. I was going to be late for my meeting. It was Olivia's sister, of course! I didn't even know her name. I was furious. "Look at what you've done!" I yelled, gesturing at my stained shirt. "You're a complete klutz!"She stammered, "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to -" But I cut her off, my anger getting the better of me. "That's the only

How may I help you today?" "Hello, my name is Emily Jones. I'm the new assistant to the CEO." I said with confidence, making sure to maintain eye contact and offer a firm handshake. I wanted to make a good first impression, so I paid close attention to my posture and demeanor. She responded with a friendly, "It's lovely to meet you, Miss Jones. I'll let the CEO know you're here." As I sat down to wait, I took a deep breath and reflected on my goals for the day. I couldn't quite make out the conversation, but it sounded like she was arranging for someone to come and escort me to the CEO's office. Ethan's POV Her words left me speechless. I didn't know what to say. Why was she telling me all of this? Was she trying to make me feel better? Or was she just trying to clear her conscience? "Why are you telling me all of this?" I managed to ask. "Are you feeling sorry for me or something?" "I just felt like the way I left you wasn't right," she said. "And I know you saw the message I sent by mistake. I'm sorry about that." Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I was a jumble of emotions - anger, sadness, betrayal. I didn't know what to say. But then her words sank in. She was apologizing. And I realized it was because of the message, not because she felt bad about leaving me. I felt my anger rising. My throat was dry and my mouth was dry. I couldn't form words. I just stared at my phone, unable to speak. The words finally came. "So you are telling me this because of the message?" Emily's POV I was worried Ethan hadn't come back yet. It was past 1 o'clock, and he still wasn't home. I knew I shouldn't care - he wasn't my husband, after all. But I couldn't shake feeling unease. I hoped he was safe, wherever he was. I was worried something bad had happened to him. He had been so harsh to me in the office, but I still cared about him. I paced back and forth in the sitting room, watching the enormous clock on the wall. Each minute that ticked by felt like an eternity. I panicked. On top of everything else, I was scared. There were no maids or chefs in the mansion. He had told them all to take a break. I wondered why he had done that. It was unlike him to be so kind to the staff. Something about the whole situation felt off. I got a bad feeling about what might have happened to him. The house was so big, and every move I made seemed to echo around me. The silence was deafening. I had never felt so alone. I wondered where he was, and why he hadn't come home yet

Ethan's POV I woke up feeling disoriented. My body ached all over. I couldn't remember how I had gotten into bed. The last thing I remembered was standing at the door, trying to figure out how to get inside. What had happened between then and now? Had I blacked out? I tossed and turned, and I suddenly felt something else on the bed. I shot upright, my heart racing with fear. Who was there? I grabbed the nearest object I could find and held it out in front of me, prepared to defend myself. But before I could do anything, the blanket was pulled off the other person in the bed. It was Olivia's sister. What was she doing in my room? And what was she doing in my bed? My heart was racing even faster. Then I realized my shirt was off. Had she tried to seduce me while I was unconscious? I felt a wave of anger and confusion. I tapped her hard on the shoulder, and she snapped awake, her eyes bloodshot and bleary. She looked like she had been through quite a lot, but I wasn't feeling sympath

Ethan's POV I stepped out and saw Emily in the living room. "Is there a problem?" I asked, concern etched on my face. "I was hearing loud voices.”I raised an eyebrow, my curiosity piqued. His eyes locked on mine with an intense gaze. “I'm not.” I needed to be out of her. My body was here, but my mind and soul were with someone who cared least about me. I realized at that moment I was in love with Ethan. I had always known that, but what I just discovered was the connection between me and Liam-Lust. I didn't know how to put it. I didn't know how to tell him why I was giddy with excitement whenever he was around. Ethan's POVI watched from a distance as Liam's car pulled away from the curb, a mixture of curiosity and unease swirling in my chest. I had specifically warned Emily to keep our arrangement private, and yet, here she was, meeting with...him. I narrowed my eyes, my mind racing with possibilities. What were they discussing? And why did Emily feel the need to sneak around behind my back? I made a mental note to confront Liam about this later, my eyes never leaving the fading tail lights of his car.The anger simmered beneath my surface, a slow-burning fire that threatened to consume me. I couldn't believe she would kiss me, pretend to have feelings for me, when all along she was still entangled with Liam. The thought was a bitter pill to swallow, and I felt my jaw clenched in frustration. I wasn't used to feeling this way about anyone, especially not a woman. My usual detachment, my ability to remain aloof, had been breached, and it was a disconcerting feeling.I stood in front of the s
